Might be worth using purchasing power and avoiding them!

Thanks OP. To be fair I suspect that Lily's Kitchen will have no idea of the current toxic nature of some of Stonewall's developments. I used to be a full supporter - went to a Stonewall group, fund raised etc.
It's only recently since I understood what their real attitude to women and lesbians was that I abandoned them.

LassWiADelicateAir · 29/06/2018 18:33

I would prefer that if a pet food company chooses to support a charity that it chose an animal welfare charity.

I would be just as unenthusiastic if they had chosen a sports or heritage charity and indeed any health charity unless it was something like Guide Dogs or a similar charity promoting support animals.

Writersblock2 · 29/06/2018 18:59

Most people commenting on their FB page didn’t like it for the same reasons as Lass - they wanted it to be an animal charity.

I did tell them why I wouldn’t be buying their products but they came back with claptrap about how Stonewall fights for equality for all. Hmm

I don't have a Facebook account but would you be willing to add a comment along the lines I posted?

I'm not opposed to Stonewall getting funding but Stonewall gets quite a lot of funding, including governmental funding.

No animal charity does- not even the RSPCA or SSPCA who are expected to play a part in the investigation and enforcement of criminal law.

Pratchet · 29/06/2018 19:33

Happy to boycott

stillathing · 29/06/2018 20:16

I'm sad about stonewall. I loved their "some people are gay get over it" campaign.

MistyEyedMixture · 29/06/2018 20:22

Agree with Lass. It's marketed as a higher end dog food they should be dishing cash out to animal charities.

borntobequiet · 29/06/2018 20:35

I thought it was baby food. So I was confused.
Now I’m even more confused. Why?

FesteringCarbuncle · 29/06/2018 20:36

That will go on my list along with lush as companies I will never use and will discourage others from using

FesteringCarbuncle · 29/06/2018 20:38

I have bought from them and from lush in the past
It's funny. They are jumping on the bandwagon without realising the woke generation are not the spenders
Us women spend for the family yet we never get courted. Just not the in thing I guess

SporadicSpartacus · 29/06/2018 20:40

I got some of their cat food and my cat turned her nose up. She’s more GC than I am...

ChickenMe · 29/06/2018 21:37

Not buying this then. Can't stand Stonewall and their shit attitude to women.

Doobigetta · 30/06/2018 00:01

Oh FFS. Lily's Kitchen is about the only food that my little madam will eat. That has really pissed me off.

Wanderabout · 30/06/2018 00:55

If you stop buying it make sure you let them know why. Stonewall openly say on their site that lesbians can be male so you can link. And also point towards WPUK, FPFW Man Friday or wherever.

LassWiADelicateAir · 30/06/2018 01:27

I just think it is very disappointing that the company did not pick an animal charity. Stonewall gets loads of funding.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/06/2018 02:04

Agreed that the funding should go to an animal charity, since they're always underfunded.

Wtf? Why would a pet food company support a political lobbying group (unless it was on behalf of animals)?
I only ever bought it when I ran out of ddog’s regular food and needed something you can buy in a supermarket, but I will choose another brand next time.

LassWiADelicateAir · 30/06/2018 10:23

They could have picked Peta or if Peta is too controversial something Animals Asia. The work Animals Asia do on behalf of bile bears deserves support. If you don't know what a bile bear is don't Google, it's horrific.

Writersblock2 · 30/06/2018 10:59

Crap, isn’t it? Lass, yes I’ll post a comment like that. :)

Smoked salmon cooked in scrambled egg is a puppy favourite in my household at Xmas. If you need alternatives. :p

Thanks WritersBlock

misscockerspaniel · 30/06/2018 14:07

I am all for companies making charitable donations but these are strange bedfellows. Then again, when I see it on a supermarket shelf (and pass by), I have always thought that it looked like hipster crap.

LassWiADelicateAir · 30/06/2018 14:17

Mine eat but it's not their favourite luxury brand. They prefer Sheba and Gourmet.

BettyDuMonde · 30/06/2018 14:21

Poop.

My doggy has a really sensitive gut and can only tolerate grain free.

Forthglade is good, but she gets a bit bored.

Considering she’s a former illegal hare courser, she lives a charmed life after rescue!

Silentnighttwo · 30/06/2018 14:21

My puppy eats this. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing.
