Fake news. It's no wonder Trump got elected. He could say that and people knew exactly what he meant. Identity politics.

The poor victim.

These are not women

happydappy2 · 26/06/2018 16:14

@finnmcool Thanks for the number-I've just phoned to query their use of the word woman when these people clearly look like men.....was told the Police have issued a statement that they are women so their hands are tied in terms of reporting differently. Hmmm-have suggested one of their journalists dig a little deeper but doubt that will happen

BiologyIsReal · 26/06/2018 16:18

Police call them women eh? Perhaps some emails to the relevant police department suggesting their officers should go to Specsavers.

Pratchet · 26/06/2018 16:22

The police are under no obligation to describe them as women.

This looks like another reason for legalising requests to see a GRC.

So my demands would be: strengthen Equality Act
make it legal to demand to see a GRC

OvaHere · 26/06/2018 16:25

Maybe James Kirkup could look into why the police classified this as a crime committed by women. Has anyone tweeted him?

SpartacusVonWaitrose · 26/06/2018 16:25

I just phoned the IPSO (Independent Press Standards Organisation) to find out more about their Editors' Code of Practice with regard to reporting crimes committed by transgendered people.

They referred me to Clause 12 (Discrimination) which specifically mentions gender identity. It seems to be in conflict with Clause 1 - Accuracy. Have a read.

Obviously they couldn't comment on the articles I cited (Metro, LBC) without having them in front of them, but advised me to contact them again with any specific complaint after reading the Code.

It would be more impactful if more than one of us complained to both Metro and IPSO.

BiologyIsReal · 26/06/2018 16:26

I'll pm him. We have been in touch previously.

LangCleg · 26/06/2018 16:31

I mean, it's MRA reporting, isn't it? Women are violent too - er... no.

Pratchet · 26/06/2018 16:31

AllaboutTrans 'interacts' with IPSO

Pratchet · 26/06/2018 16:33

Just try getting this sort of access as a feminist. Oh, and they've already has an intimate tete a tete with the Head of BBC Complaints too.

Surely it's all kinds of wrong for the police to be colluding with this lie. Can someone tweet them? I'm not on Twitter but what's the point of the police having to fanny around with gender identity when in most cases the public are going to need to know the sex of the suspects
Wonder if the witnesses were allowed to say in their statements that these were men or will it now be a thought crime to do so?

Jorah · 26/06/2018 16:37

They have a meeting with IPSO and everything gets changed to the way that they like it.

They are SO oppressed Hmm

They could report Transgenderedwomen, if they are, surely?

OlennasWimple · 26/06/2018 16:44

make it legal to demand to see a GRC

Why would it not be legal for the police to request sight of a GRC? I thought that requests had to be proportionate and handled sensitively (including how records are kept), not that no-one could ever see the GRC ever

sundaynamechange1 · 26/06/2018 16:47

No slash I asked you to confirm if you thought more transwomen were sexually attacked than natel women? Like you stated.

happydappy2 · 26/06/2018 16:48

currently 19 complaints on LBC website, pls post there if you have time to

DickTERFin · 26/06/2018 16:50

Can’t see any women stamping on that man. I did see some women trying to defend a man getting the shit kicked out of him by some other men though.

LighthouseSouth · 26/06/2018 16:58

ChickenMe "Wonder if the witnesses were allowed to say in their statements that these were men or will it now be a thought crime to do so?"

there have already been issues around this in court I think - judge ordering witnesses to use preferred pronouns?

however, what would be interesting would be to see if there's been one of those yellow incident boards - though I suppose arguably someone seeing that board who had some information would know what the board was saying.....

scotsheather · 26/06/2018 17:09

Shows that men can be victims of male violence as well. That will be the line of a certain part of the trans activism. 'but we're victims too'

DickTERFin · 26/06/2018 17:13

I wonder how the police officers who were assaulted will feel about being compelled to mis-sex their assailants?

It’s one thing to sit through the “woke” training and take it on board in the abstract. It’s quite another to have to write a report that compels to lie about what happened to you.
