The Catholic church shouldn't have to look at implementing further safeguarding procedures right now - some men have always used it as a foil and a shield to abuse children, so why bother putting protections in now...they've always done it.

People who want to use abuse elderly and vulnerable people in care homes have always done so, they're there already, as we've seen from expose programmes about them. Why bother putting any safeguarding to reduce risk?

There's always been inappropriate relationships between teachers and pupils - so there's really no point in making laws/safeguarding against this, because those people will always do it.
