As for men entering women's bathrooms... I wish there was an easy answer and it's alarming. I think harsher prosecutions and more thorough follow ups of theses perverts would help. Go on any mainstream porn site and this kind of bathroom stuff is easy to find, seemingly without prosecution when they actually manage it. It's a shame that it's being 'normalised' that way.

1. No we didn't walk out together. We g didn't come to the event together. She just happened to be at the same place I was at for the event that night. We came in at roughly the same time, I did my make up, she didn't have to do hers but we had a quick chat, she went to the toilet then left.

The awareness of self ID will increase this happening. At the moment men don't realise that they can just say they are starting to transition and walk brazenly into women's spaces and start covertly filming them. There hasn't been as much publicity before.

I'm actually insanely busy today, but I noticed my name invoked so I thought I'd point out that my comment was inspired by daim's instant leap to the notion that this was a thread about trans issues rather than women being safe from creepy men.

Daim's normal procedure is to tell us that these things happen and any concern we may have about a laxity of social rules or legal permissions is ridiculous because these things both never happen and happen whatever we do.

We discuss lots of issues with regards to women's rights here, usually in the context of men abusing those rights. The fact that the first leap, without any comment, is to point out that this is nothing to do with trans people, is defensive to the point of extremely revealing about priorities.

If you open up the women’s loos to anyone, it doesn’t matter if every transwoman on the planet is a living saint. Men like this charmer WILL exploit the loopholes.

nobody is saying all transwomen are a danger. What they’re saying is that men like the guy in this story will use any loophole they can to access victims. Right now we have a degree of protection because of a bloke turns up we can tell him to sling his hook/there’s social pressure for men not to go in the ladies.

If self ID comes in, that layer of protection goes. Men like camera boy here can waltz in, no right of challenge, and spend as long as they like setting up cameras.

I am always so very reassured by the 'fact' that, should I be the victim of a crime, the perpetrator will be caught and punished. That's worked out so very well for women up 'til now...

I know you probably think I'm trying to goad people here but I'm really not. I respect peoples views and I get where they're coming from. I'm not sure I'm keen on self ID either, but I'm still a little on the fence. I definitely am NOT cool with men filming women in bathrooms. They should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and sites like x hamster should be doing more to ensure that content is not on there. It's sickening.

What I was responding to was people saying that self ID is relevant in this specific case. I just don't see that it is. Didn't mean to step on toes.
