Wow. That olive branch was stunningly vacuous, wildly insulting and rather patroning, all in one tweet!

SpareRibFem · 19/06/2018 21:11

That's was no olive branch, that was MB telling women what to do again

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 19/06/2018 21:12

And all those painfully stupid handmaidens...🤬

AssassinatedBeauty · 19/06/2018 21:12

What an odd comment. Lots of different groups have different issues to content with. That's got nothing to do with whether those groups both face sexism/misogyny.

And Bergdorf is busy telling us how to do feminism again. Whilst using a descriptor that many women strongly object to.

OlennasWimple · 19/06/2018 21:14

Are we supposed to fawn over MB and be all "go sister!" about this tweet? Confused

BettyDuMonde · 19/06/2018 21:15

Yes! I should have typed ‘olive branch’ really 🙊

I like the comment from another trans person telling Begforf (paraphrasing) to sit down, be quite and stop ruining things for everyone else!

LaSqrrl · 19/06/2018 21:15

I will try to unpack that without getting a strike.

How come someone whose claim to woman, which is based on 'gender' grounds, thinks that they can also lay claim to two things based upon SEX. There is the SEX in SEXism. There is misoGYNY. I doubt I can unpack that any more without risking a strike.

The accompanying picture was a 'nice touch'. Very sincere looking. Hmm

OlennasWimple · 19/06/2018 21:16

"Pit bulls can have respiratory problems, elm trees are susceptible to a fungal disease. Let's focus on the the things that pit bull and elm trees have in common!"

averylongtimeasspartacus · 19/06/2018 21:17

Thanks for that, Bergdorf. I really needed you to come along and tranexplain things to me.

alexpolistigers · 19/06/2018 21:17

What I have in common with Munroe Bergdorf:
We are both human beings.

But it is very trivialising to compare menstruation with gender dysphoria. These two things are in no way alike.

Kettlepotblackagain · 19/06/2018 21:19

The accompanying picture was a 'nice touch'.

Yeah that's what I thought. Very empowering and sassy as the wisdom is imparted.

I do quite like MB’s slacks, mind you. Very Katherine Hepburn.

Noqont · 19/06/2018 21:21

Nah. Don't agree with that. And never will.

NewbieSpartacus · 19/06/2018 21:21

You lost me at cis...

pombear · 19/06/2018 21:22

“You know, cisgender women have periods to contend with and transgender wo men have other shit to contend with, but we ultimately both deal with sexism and misogyny life shit, so really we need to be focused on that rather than trying to say oh look we’re different sorting that shit out, in the numerous ways it needs to be sorted out for both males and females, rather than shovelling transagenda stuff onto the females trying to sort out female shit. "

Fixed if for you.

"but we ultimately both deal with sexism and misogyny"

Exactly Munroe - you meting it out, us having it inflicted upon us.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 19/06/2018 21:40

This person is either very ignorant or very malicious. How dare this person assume to know what it is like to face misogyny?😡

Arkengarthdale · 19/06/2018 21:45

I've just recognised someone I know in real life on that twitter thread Confused

ChickenMe · 19/06/2018 21:45

I despair of the handmaidens

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 19/06/2018 21:46

You know, cisgender women have periods to contend with and transgender women have gender dysphoria to contend with, but we ultimately both deal with sexism and misogyny, so really we need to be focused on that rather than trying to say oh look we’re different.

How can MB be so goddam blind to this, how?

You know, Jean has eczema to contend with and Simon has GAD to contend with, but we ultimately both deal with supermarket shopping and rain, so really we need to be focused on that rather than trying to say oh look we’re different."

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 19/06/2018 21:48

ChickenMe, I do too. I get so angry at them for being cheerleaders on the sidelines of this warped show!

But then I think they are just trying to make their way in a patriarchal world filled with hatred of them. And I know I will always have their backs even when they're stabbing me in mine.

heresyandwitchcraft · 19/06/2018 21:48

Following pombear's lead, this is how I read the tweet:

“You know, cisgender women young black men have periods systemic racism to contend with and transgender women young white men who listen to NWA and wear dreadlocks have gender dysphoria their parents judging them to contend with, but we ultimately both deal with sexism and misogyny people making assumptions about us and wanting to touch our hair, so really we need to be focused on that rather than trying to say oh look we’re different."

NewbieSpartacus · 19/06/2018 22:20

Love it heresy

2rebecca · 19/06/2018 22:32

It's nonsense that MB has faced misogyny. If MB still identified as male MB would not be in the media, would not have made a TV documentary and would not have been asked to be a keynote speaker on women in film. Prominent transwomen gain fame and money through identifying as female. Women don't
