Natasha, and Natacha, is a name with connotations related specifically to human trafficking of women for the sex trade, and more generally with prostitution. (Apologies to any actual Natasha's out there for bringing this up)

Who can say why adult males choose the names they do? Presumably the 'academic' ones think carefully on it and choose the one that best fits the woman they imagine themselves as Hmm

This is Natasha Scott from Hastings winning Miss Transgender Brighton in 2015 at the age of 44.

I am very concerned about the bomb making materials found in the area where a bomb threat against women was made. Is there a journalist on here that can find out more?

Kettlepotblackagain · 16/06/2018 10:51

ClareFlourish - Hi Smile

Do you agree it is up to you and those within your community to fight back against this? Are you directly fighting it and standing with us to stop the abuse and violence?

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 10:53

This is the academic and trans rights activist, specialising currently in 'trans children', Natacha Kennedy.

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 10:58

I agree that trans people collectively are not responsible for this

Collectively they are responsible for encouraging, condoning and ignoring violence on their behalf against women who disagree with them about what a woman is. No more than a handful stand up and speak against it.

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 11:01

Those that wrote to the open letter in Guardian recently, should have zero guilt.

Kettlepotblackagain · 16/06/2018 11:03

Oh I missed that Pointless..do you have a link...?

Debbie Hayton and Miranda Yardley were signatories, if I remember correctly. I can't find a link, I am sorry.

Is it this one?:

This Keem Arkwright person doesn't seem to be a TRA, by the look of it, just your average disaffected right-wing young male. He seems to have objected to the Man Fridays using Hampstead Pool, probably because he missed the point.

It's only a few years since Paul Chambers was prosecuted for threatening to blow up Robin Hood airport in a tweet that was clearly intended as a joke. So the police would, I hope, take this threat at least as seriously as they took that.

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 11:23

If someone had threatened a trans event like this, in the current climate there would have been a score of articles demanding that 'known transphobes and their enablers' this would include you mumsnet 'condemn or condone' it. And many of them, this would probably include you Mumsnet, would give small statements along the "of course we stand in solidarity with trans people and completely condemn those who threaten them".

So how about it Mumsnet? How about a statement on this? "We stand in solidarity with women speaking and organising for women's rights and absolutely condemn the actions of those who threaten them."

How easy would it be for you to release that simple one sentence statement, given that a serious threat has just been made on a meeting that you must know a number of your regular female contributors will likely be attending?

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 11:24

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 11:25

Thank you Pointless, yes I would like them to see that.

Yes yes yes yes

YES

Cmon Justine. We know you want to.

Just have an 'oh fuck it' moment - you'll have most of the country on your side.

If he's missed the point though, how has he made the link between Man Friday and Woman's Place UK? He must have some understanding of what they are campaigning on to have linked this meeting to that event?

Even if it wasn't that way in the beginning (and I don't know much about its origins) the transactivist movement now seems to have attracted a lot of misogynist men who realise that it is an opportunity to attack and bully women with impunity.

Pratchet · 16/06/2018 11:40

Joan: start a site stuff thread

Yes, that's a good point - if he's made the link between the two, he must have some grasp of what's going on. You may well be right, and he's just another misogynistic male who enjoys any excuse to threaten women. The only difference between him and the rest of the TRAs is that he doesn't pretend to be progressive. Perhaps that's a good thing - it helps bring their real agenda out into the open.

Southfields · 16/06/2018 11:55

The Hastings local paper has been sent all the threats from the TRA. They have ignored it. The reporter who wrote about the bomb has now been emailed with full details of the "device" threat.

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 11:57

So the biased local press are involved in a cover-up? What do national journalists think about this?

Southfields · 16/06/2018 12:02

PointlessTV

Gosh. Someone local should do this.

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 12:05

Identify politics is about the individual, it's a right-wing ideology. Many feminists believe that those that are of the sex male and are activists against women, are MRA.

dolorsit · 16/06/2018 12:07

It's more likely that any arrests have not been made public and it could possibly be prejudicial to link this search to a specific tweet.

RadicalFern · 16/06/2018 12:11

I'm very glad that the police are taking this seriously, though I also take comfort that someone unable to spell the word device on the first try is likely to blow his own hands off when trying for his bomb-making badge.

ScrubTheDecks · 16/06/2018 12:22

Natasha Scott’s attempt to shut down a debate / discussion event had immediately made me want to join A Woman’s Place UK. I will be there in spirit.

Stupid, stupid TRAs. Do they really not understand how minority groups have fought, marched, lobbied, debated for YEARS to attempt to create an environment in which people can live without judgement and oppression. No feminists I know want trans women / trans men abused or refused work or housing or health care. All the feminists I know would take action if they witnessed a trans person being insulted on the night bus home. Whilst the abuse women receive from TRAs feels like misogynistic bullying.

Woman’sPlace Member wannabe.
