It tallies with the lack of understanding of how women are actually treated.

Yes, I'd be happy to be treated like a human.

Pratchet · 18/06/2018 13:17

We HAD common ground. We had a system which worked. TRA declared war on that.

Kettlepotblackagain · 18/06/2018 15:16

This is really difficult to explain but by asking to be treated by society in the same way that they would treat a woman, I feel more comfortable,” she says.

Wow. This does explain a lot. Totally agree with Datun.

This explains the rage and indignation. We've ruined the fantasy. So instead of believing us, they carry on believing the fantasy and try to silence us.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 15:18

@Datun do you remember the poster who visited the site a few weeks ago. She was a trans woman from the USA who blogged. I know you and she had an interesting exchange and she linked to her blog... I read some parts of it and there was something there very relevant to this part of the thread....

Datun · 18/06/2018 15:27

Gosh R0wantrees no I don't! Can you put your library and skills to use and remind me a bit more?

By the way, I think you are such an invaluable part of this. Your mind is like a spreadsheet. It's fantastic.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 15:33

It was 2-3 weeks ago and the poster helped to clarify something... they used an idendifyable name here. You had a direct conversation with them in the midst of a long thread and I remember you thanking them for their help in better understanding.

I remember that their blog went back a long way.

I 'm sure I can find it if it doesnt ring a bell.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 15:35

O and thank you... its not really a spreadsheet, just a pile of the things Ive read to try to understand this better.
Thanks are really all due to all of you here who have kept on keeping on!

JoanSummers · 18/06/2018 15:57

Justine has posted on the Site Stuff thread asking for info which I have tried to supply. Have a look and please add anything you think is relevant.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 16:02

@Datun it was sillyolme a trans woman who joined the thread below on pg 6 and provided some links.

The links included her blog which is extensive.
'Kay Brown is an eminent transactivist who transitioned as a teenager over four decades ago exploring the science of transsexuality and transgender experience.':

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/06/2018 16:06

Datun you may recall a HuffPo piece in which a transwoman raged about someone daring to touch them in the street. Blamed it on transphobia, ffs. Not only absolutely zero awareness of women's experience under patriarchy but no interest in finding out either.

Sillyolme · 18/06/2018 16:45

Prawn... I can't help it... regarding this transwoman you mentioned who blamed unwanted touching on transphobia... ugg! OK, jumping in again because I see a link to my blog (when people visit my blog, it is recorded where it came from...). Yeah, this person is clueless. Some men, far too many, think they have the right to women's bodies... my worst experience (other than the rapes and attempted rapes)... I was once in line for a small concert to hear Holly Near... when this asshat of a man wearing gym shorts and tanktop standing behind me started rubbing his erection against my butt (or bum as y'all would say in the UK). CREEP! -- I love the solution to this problem in Japan (been there a fair number of times for work)... they have special train cars only for women so that they can avoid this problem.

... one takes what one can get !

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 16:57

Sillyolme
I feel like I've set off an alarm! (hope its not the middle of the night for you?)

I remembered your comments on the thread above and also your extensive blog.

NotTerfNorCis · 18/06/2018 18:48

Good article on AGP, sillyoleme. I keep seeing TRAs claim that AGP is just normal female sexuality. E.g. a woman who has a sexual fantasy involving herself is exactly the same as a man fantasizing about having a woman's body, clothes etc . Well, no, it isn't the same thing at all.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 18:52

current thread with discussion about attending WPUK Hastings and other apparent attempts to disrupt the meeting:

Good article sillyoleme. Really interesting.

Familiar names are popping up in this:

I'm not sure whether I'm come across Chris Kingsland before but Adrie Van der Meer is the Labour Party official and friend/associate of Lily Madigan involved in this:

It appears that he has some delightful views about women:

Flooffloof · 18/06/2018 20:10

So how far does that go? Does that give you the right to exclude
us from where we have been for decades? How far do you want to
roll our rights back? AWP misrepresents a reform which would
make a minor administrative change in a thing many trans people
don't bother with as a sudden prospective invasion of Men in
Women's Spaces. What they say is not true

I honestly don't know how many ways this can be said until it's understood.
You (general) have been allowed in our spaces for millennia, cos we are kind like that. Opening up the criteria to "any xy person" Makes it unsafe for us women AND you.
You (general) appear to subscribe to the signing a document in front of a solicitor has some higher meaning.
It doesn't, people lie to solicitors all the time. It's how they make money.
If a person signs a document stating they the opposite gender not sex, it means nothing.
You (general ) think that no xy person will in fact bother with signing said document in front of solicitor for some small recompense. I agree, I reckon they will simply state they are a opposite gender not sex, as it will be illegal to ask for documents. Save £30 and upset women and wannabe women, or is that the whole point? Wannabe women require perverted men to recognise them as female and This is as good a way as any?
Meanwhile xx people have no say?

Baroquehavoc · 18/06/2018 21:35

So how far does that go? Does that give you the right to exclude us from where we have been for decades?

If this was still about Debenhams toilets, I doubt it would be a problem for most women and girls.

Which sex segregated spaces are unnecessary? Which initiatives that promote opportunities for girls are wrong? Which sport activities shouldn't be divided by sex? Because if these are 'inclusive', they no longer are sex segregated.

Sex segregation is being eliminated and women are being threaten while trying to protect our rights for safety and equal opportunities.

They have a voice, a big voice. And much power. We did listen to that voice. That's why we are here.

Baroquehavoc · 18/06/2018 21:42

Wow, that was quick

Kettlepotblackagain · 18/06/2018 21:42

It was wasn't it!
