I am a woman.

I was a girl.

I am an adult human female.

Something a man can never be.

I am a woman.

People refer to me has her and she.

Sometimes said with deep contempt and misogyny.

I am a woman.

Something a male will never be.

I have a vagina and uterus.

I menstruate and have given birth.

I am a mother.

Something a male will never be.

I have been insulted, assaulted, belittled, dismissed, held back, intimidated, stereotyped, terrorised, mocked, shamed, humiliated because I am a woman.

Something a male can never be.

I feel insulted, appropriated, offended, anxious, tense, depressed, hurt and under siege, when a male claims to be a woman or anyone says a male can be female.

It is not civil or respectful to treat me this way.

I am a woman.

I am Spartacus.

My DH is Spartacus too. He's allowed to say so without being scolded like a naughty child, because penis.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 14/06/2018 06:56

My DH also. We both wish these deluded people would cut the crap!

GeorgeFayne · 14/06/2018 06:59

I am Spartacus.

I am S p a r t a c u s
Sabistick · 14/06/2018 06:59

I am Spartacus ,
just by learning after all this time, to say , no , to men's needs above mine.
Once i said it once, i saw how often i had been conditioned to defer. A lifetime.
It was a revelation.

MangoSplit · 14/06/2018 07:02

I am a woman. I am not transphobic. I am Spartacus. I am a woman.

20pencepiece · 14/06/2018 07:03

My friend's had lip fillers, she admits she has a trout pout, doesn't make her a fish.

Facial feminization surgery on a man doesn't make you a woman it makes you a surgically altered man. Looking at you........

20pencepiece · 14/06/2018 07:03

Munroe Bergdorf.

Still Spartacus.

abbsisspartacus · 14/06/2018 07:04

I am and always will be Spartacus biology is fact not fiction I have a daughter and two sons I will teach them the same

ISaySteadyOn · 14/06/2018 07:06

I am mostly easygoing and I don't like being harsh or mean. I feel uncomfortable with it.

That said, this is the hill I will die on. My life is not a costume for men to wear. My biology with all its messiness and wonder is not theirs. They can't have it. I say NO.

I too am Spartacus.

seafret · 14/06/2018 07:15

I am Spartacus.

I don't have much intellectually today as I am menstruating and tired and in pain.

Women = adult human female. Transwomen are male.

Humans cannot change sex. #biologymatters #sexmatters #sexnotgender

Courtesy and respect needs to work both ways. From much varied experience I fully understand that material reality is often distressing and upsetting, and sometimes intolerable to live with. But it is what it is, however painful. You can wish it wasn't so (and I do), but no amount of identifying or spinning reality will actually change it.

From this, I have often thought of this 'prayer' (I am not religious but the principle is the same) as something to guide me and keep me going wisely and I think it applies here.

"Grant me the wisdom to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

I wish everyone peaceful mental health, and especially at the moment I wish this to the many, many women who feel scared, gaslighted, triggered, pressured, disappointed, exhausted, angry, indignant and indefatigable that we have to even be having this fight.

JSmitty · 14/06/2018 07:36

I have just joined to express my support for sanity and a world where words mean something.

There is sex and there is gender. Sex is male and female. Gender is masculine and feminine. There is no such thing as 'the female gender.' Female is not a gender. It is a sex.

Female is a matter of chromasomes. If you have a Y Chromasome, you are not female. If you don't, then you are. This is a substantive reality in every cell of your body that cannot be changed.

Gender is a whole different crock.

Glad we've cleared that up.

PS: I am Spartacus.

I am a long time lurker (and feel like most of my posting is done on threads like these!) and I am Spartacus too.

Sex matters
Biology matters
Truth matters

Strigiformes · 14/06/2018 07:47

I am Spartacus. The way that free speech is being censored in the name of tolerance and progression is terrifying. Biology exists, men can not change into women. 2+2=4.

JoyTheUnicorn · 14/06/2018 07:51

Have woken up to find that I am even more Spartacus than I was last night, and I'm concerned about the slippery slop that is controlling language.
TERF is undoubtedly a slur, and cis is offensive, but I don't want them banned.
Once we've banned these words there'll inevitably be a push to ban other words, because we must be nice, we mustn't hurt anyone's feelings.
Well, fuck that!
I can handle being called TERF and cis. If someone is so fragile they cannot hear the truth and debate their side (which is what MN is famous for!) they need medical help, not restriction of more and more words, and certainly not affirming lies to validate feelings that aren't in line with biological reality.
Still Spartacus. Still fuming.

JoyTheUnicorn · 14/06/2018 07:52

*Slope.

ChickenMe · 14/06/2018 07:53

The sun is in the sky
Humans still cannot change sex
My cat can't either and she is Spartacus as well

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 14/06/2018 07:54

Joy I concur! I for one don't care what I'm called...I know what I am and other people aren't going to affect that! It's a pity those deluded people who shan't be named don't have self worth but that's not our problem.

SolidarityGdansk · 14/06/2018 07:59

I am Spartacus and will continue posting on these threads as long as they appear

Cosmetic surgery can not change your sex

If you are born XY, you will be XY til the day you die.

I resent being gaslighted and will never stop saying that the emperor had no clothes.

BettyDuMonde · 14/06/2018 08:01

I am Spartacus.

I don’t believe in god, any god, nor do I believe in innate gender identity.

I support those that do in their quest to live happy and full lives free of harassment due to their beliefs.

However, I do not accept that belief, no matter how fervently held, gives anyone the right to enter a space designated for the opposite, biological sex.

Keep your penis out of our prisons, our changing rooms, our rape crisis centres, our showers, our gyms, and our private medical cubicles and there is no conflict.

FlippinFumin · 14/06/2018 08:03

I haven't posted for a while, for reasons. But I have read. I am still FlippinFumin. And maybe now I am Spartacus, because I am a woman.

When I was writing my dissertation, it was in part gender critical, I argued then that gender is a social construct. That was the the year Nadia won Big Brother. Nadia who was a characature of a woman, playing a woman, who could turn into an aggressive man at the push of a button when needed. Those things were never shown on the highlight show, only her acting like a woman. The public bought the lies, and they are still buying the lies.

For all sorts of reasons, because some men are complete cunts, today I am Spartacus.

20nil · 14/06/2018 08:06

I am still Spartacus. I stand with my sisters.

BaronessEllaSaturday · 14/06/2018 08:24

I object to TERF because it's not correct. Biology matters not feelings I'm more than happy to accept any natal born woman who identifies as a man because they are female. It's not trans I refuse in female spaces but natal born men.

This is my hill and I'm still Spartacus.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 14/06/2018 08:28

I am Spartacus. I’m an adult human female. I came out of an adult human female, as did everyone on earth. I have given birth to children because my body is female. I breastfed those children because my body is female. I have been a victim of sexual assault, sexual harassment and stalking because of my female sex, not because of my gender identity. I have had birth injuries and mental health issues because of my female body.

A man cannot be a woman, ever, no matter what extremes of surgery they go to. I believe Male and female people should be able to live in peace despite the clothes they choose, the adult sexual partners they prefer, the names they adopt. I support trans people in their quest to live safely and with dignity but this should not be at the expense of the 52% of the population who are female. Biologically female.

I will not deny the truth no matter what. Biology is a fact. It is science. Feelings and fairy tales trumping science is religion. I will not be converted, I will not lie.

Males cannot EVER be female- no matter how they present aesthetically, no matter what their hobbies are, no matter how they augment their bodies. Their maleness was a reality at conception and is programmed into every cell.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 14/06/2018 08:28

I am Spartacus. I don't post, but I read.

there are lots of us it seems.

Thymelord · 14/06/2018 08:29

I am Spartacus.

I'm a woman. I've been pregnant three times. I've had an abortion. I've had a miscarriage. I've given birth. I can't identify out of any of this.

I've been raped, I've been battered by my ex-husband, I've been abused in the street, I've been sexually harassed by my boss. I can't identify out of any of this.

I reject gender. I don't reject transpeople. I will stand side by side with them and fight for their rights if needed, but I will not do it at the expense of my rights and those of my daughter.

As a pp beautifully put it, I Will Not Kneel.
