This sums it up really about the problem with anti trans stunts.

OP posts:

Oh dear. I think Vice need to hire a proof reader who knows how to use commas.

As for the argument, calling people 'stupid' never changed anyone's minds. It will just create further divides.

CharlieParley · 07/06/2018 17:45

Certainly wasting a lot of space ranting about silly and inconsequential stunts...

Rattled, aren't they?

(And in true pseudo-journalist fashion completely incapable of reporting the truth - the very first Man Friday swim did after all lead to the correct re-application of sex exemptions)

lightthedarkness · 07/06/2018 17:52

Manfriday are brilliant aren't they OP? Amazing now humour can be so effective and actually change things.
Of course, it's not like punching women, masking up and intimidating women, silencing free speech, stopping women meeting, trying to get women sacked, burning books and generally ensuring that women are silenced and disenfranchised - but then that's why women are so brilliant - we generally don't use this type of tactic. Women rock Grin

Mumminmum · 07/06/2018 17:53

Well, they tried to speak politely about it first and got ignored. Now
they are trying to use the masculine way of doing it. Being loud and over the top to get the point accross and it is working.

I don't think anyone thinks that most of the actual transwomen are a big threat to women. It is more those men who get aroused by dressing up in women's clothing and then entering areas only for women. Now if anyone could figure out a way of telling the difference between them and transwomen it would solve a lot of problems for both transwomen and women.

I am hopefull that the fact that more and more leisure centres are now making individual cubicles to change clothes in and that there is now talk about making shelters for transwomen will solve a lot of the problems.

TERFragetteCity · 07/06/2018 17:53

If they are that stupid why are you so het up about it?

Is it because it shows just how toxic trans ideology is? Or sotin?

CaitlynsCat · 07/06/2018 17:54

'The simple problem' is they're getting massive publicity and TRAs in publications like Vice are frit.

Also I like how they've censored Amy's mankini, but then at the bottom they've got a link to 'The Queer Woman's Guide to Strap-On Blow Jobs'

I mean what the actual fuck?

LangCleg · 07/06/2018 17:55

Rattled, aren't they?

Yes! Narcissistic rage will snowball. This will be unpleasant but enlightening for bystanders.

Moonkissedlegs · 07/06/2018 17:56

Vice? Really?!

WhereYouLeftIt · 07/06/2018 18:01

Ah, it's the lovely FoxOnSecurity, whose contributions to the thread on M&S changing rooms brought such light relief!

Remember such larks as their definition of rape - "Err no.. Here's the act, its any of them points, so a digit pentening and so on can count as rape, but in terms of a conviction probelry more down the line of sexual assault." - while posting a screenshot that makes clear rape must involve penetration by a penis? Hmm

And "Haha amazing, reread what TERF means and stands for and then read what you just said, by your own statement your admiting that your a terf"

So welcome back Fox. It's good to have a resident GF.

Yambabe · 07/06/2018 18:08

Erm what Anti-Trans protesters? Hmm

AFAIK Man Friday (and Woman Wednesday) are highlighting the gaping holes in bringing in gender self-id without proper thought to safeguarding and plain old common sense.

They haven't blocked anyone from attending meetings where attendees may disagree with their ideology, punched anyone, doxxed anyone or made significant threats to both businesses and individuals.

Can you explain to me in what way they are anti-trans OP?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/06/2018 18:10

Is foxy jaaaaanniiisssssssss?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 07/06/2018 18:11

Well that article is lying for a start Grin

How ridiculous that they cant even tell the truth about something they find so disdainful

AllTheDressesInAllTheSizes · 07/06/2018 18:15

The truth is harder than the pain inside

daimbars · 07/06/2018 18:16

There are some great articles being shared today! Thanks OP.

Transphobes are quite literally creating a problem that doesn't exist. They are hypothesising about an outcome, creating that outcome themselves, and then trying to use their own creation as proof of its possibility. It doesn't work like that – you can't manufacture the evidence you require to prove a point.

My sentiments exactly.

UpstartCrow · 07/06/2018 18:18

Also I like how they've censored Amy's mankini, but then at the bottom they've got a link to 'The Queer Woman's Guide to Strap-On Blow Jobs'

fuuuuck.

gendercritter · 07/06/2018 18:24

Genuinely stupid things are generally rather easily dismissed and ignored. What with them being stupid and there being a lot of other stupid stuff happening on a day to day basis on the internet.

Funny how #ManFriday has been neither.

Offred · 07/06/2018 18:26

Yes... when we are considering new laws and changes to existing laws we absolutely should never consider the potential future impacts/unintended consequences... Doing that would be utterly ridiculous wouldn’t it?

Things like Man Friday and David Lewis aren’t actually highlighting the problems with the guidance TRA orgs are issuing to organisations and institutions that are actually changing how laws are interpreted, they are just making up things that actually happened such as David Lewis actually being accepted as a candidate for Women’s Officer and Man Friday men actually entering the Hampstead pools... those two things never happened and couldn’t happen right?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 07/06/2018 18:30

Considering the effect on women counts as ridiculous, if you're a misogynist.

spontaneousgiventime · 07/06/2018 18:38

Oh I do love an article posted by Fox. They are usually a heap of crap served with a side order of righteous indignation.

Picassospaintbrush · 07/06/2018 18:43

Thanks for the link Fox - this was underneath and this is REALLY GOOD NEWS

www.vice.com/en_uk/article/8xev3a/aaron-persky-brock-turner-judge-recall

The judge who attracted international censure after sentencing the Stanford rapist Brock Turner to six months in jail has been recalled from office after a two-year campaign by local activists. NPR reports that 59 percent of Santa Clara County voters cast their ballots in favor of recalling Superior Court judge Aaron Persky, making him the first California judge to be recalled since 1932.

Hell, campaigning WORKS.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2018 18:49

That reminds me.... Crochet hook. Thanks op.

HerFemaleness · 07/06/2018 18:50

Dear god, if you can't be bothered to read it all then scroll down to the last paragraph. It's the old ''men will sexually assault you anyway so stop worrying your purty little heads about men identifying as women to get easier access to you''.

miri1985 · 07/06/2018 18:52

""Oh really?" he responded, and swam off. This was the big reaction they'd been seeking, apparently: a moment of polite concern, followed by peaceful co-swimming. "

Wonder why they left out the fact that men were so bothered the police were called?

lunamoth581 · 07/06/2018 19:06

Not really a hard-hitting piece of journalism, is it? It’s basically several paragraphs of personal attacks on the ManFriday protestors without any actual counter-arguments.

I am not impressed by this article.

SwearyG · 07/06/2018 19:07

When someone tells you that your pro-woman stance is anti-trans they aren’t telling you that they think you are anti-trans. They are projecting their own position onto you. They are telling you their pro-trans stance is anti-woman. Their stance starts with anti-woman and resolves in pro-trans (though would be pro anything else if it put women down). They can’t understand that your pro-woman stance starts and ends with pro-woman so they project all sorts of their own feelings onto you.

This article is so flawed it doesn’t even bear picking apart, but for the fact we have lists of men who abuse self ID to hurt women as long as your arm, and that the argument “men will abuse anyway” is, frankly, shite.
