Examples of transgender males in male roles

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 08:07

Are there any examples of females that have transitioned into males holding male posts, accessing male spaces or entering male sports contexts etc as men?

I'm struggling to find examples.

Is this happening on the same scale the other way around?

Can't think of any - much less vocal and elbowey than m2f.

TerfsUp · 31/05/2018 08:13

I can't think of any.

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 08:15

No, didn't think so...

I wonder why that could be?

Although the transgender male at. DDs school was voted prom king which made me think how bloody lovely they all are.

Please miss, I know! I know! 😁

They’re the first ‘men’ to get pregnant! 😒

rocketpocket · 31/05/2018 08:20

I was also wondering about this and similar questions. Are there ftm trans in male prisons? What about late transitioning? 40s or later after they've had children etc

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 08:21

Oh yes how could I forget the first pregnant man! Hmm

I know that the Masons will now allow TiFs into their brotherhood if they have a GRC. I wonder if the ManFriday chaps would fancy a Masonic meeting?

Not the same I know but thought that was quite interesting.

They'll also allow TiMs to stay, providing they were confirmed masons before their transition.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/05/2018 08:30

One reason for this would be that until very, very recently male to female transitioners vastly outnumbered female to male. There are still very few adult women older than say mid 20s transitioning to males, as far as I know. But there's been a huge increase in the number of female children and teenagers seeking a referral to gender identity clinics.

Tavistock Clinic:

2009/10 40 girls, 56 boys referred
2015/16 929 girls, 490 boys referred
2017/18 1806 girls, 703 boys referred

(From the GIDS website)

I don't know how politicians can look at those stats and not start to wonder whether there might not be something in the theory of rapid onset gender dysphoria.

blackteasplease · 31/05/2018 09:37

What also pisses me off about this is that they specifically put in a clause preventing F2M inheiriting titles and the like!

Yes, that's the bit we need an exemption for, something that wouldn't matter in the fucking slightest, not keeping males out of female spaces for the most vulnerable.

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 10:19

I wonder too, how many examples of transgender women there are who DONT wear thick make up, long hair and high heels.

After all, of is about internal feelings, why the fuck does the external matter so much? Why does how you dress and look need validation?

I've often wondered that, kettlepotblack. My normal attire, as a bio female, is jeans, jumper, scruffy trainers. I pull a brush through my hair, add a slick of lippy and job done! These transwomen (eg Kaitlyn Jenner) just go completely ott.

senioritabonita · 31/05/2018 10:26

I know a few transsexual women who dress like I’m very plain clothes and have very simple hairstyles you would expect on an older woman who was less concerned about her sexuality in appearance and more concerned with being ‘tidy’ and ‘proper’ - they wear low heels, court shoes etc.

Re trans men and boys, our local comprehensive has 2 trans girls and 3 trans boys. The trans girls change in the girls and so do the trans boys - I can’t get my head around it and when I asked why or how it made sense I was basically told that it’s what they want. But what do the girls want?

It’s incredibly confusing.

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 10:30

Exactly single.

As I was writing this I thought, I'm sat here, scruffy jeans, hair a mess, flat shoes, no make up - I guess I'm not a 'real woman'.

There's such a contradictory argument. One minute gender is an illusion, there's fluidity, social construction. I actually get parts of those arguments...

But the next gender matters so much that being a women is automatically affiliated such rigid gender stereotypes and this needs to be recognised!

There are a few more out there if you go looking. Perhaps they just don't get picked up on the feminist boards for... er... obvious reasons?

There are several more around like this one ^^

And there was a TV show on about transgenderism really quite recently and most of the trans people interviewed were transmen - high achieving professionals - if I remember rightly. There were three of them in a bar in the US all chatting about being a man in a man's world. Wish I could remember the show...

HTH :)

Kettlepotblack · 31/05/2018 10:38

Thanks Ray. That's helpful and interesting.

That's revealing. What a shame it's so much harder to be a high achieving professional as a woman in a man's world, especially if you want to have children.
