Where the fuck has the Posie thread gone and why??

So posie has views which have got her no platformed by WPUK.

and now MN will not let us discuss her no platforming???

WTF is happening?? How scary is this shit?

The reason I can see given is that the WPUK decision was not to do with MN.

99% of threads are about people/organsitions/decisions not to do with MN. That explanation makes no sense.

Did Posie ask for it to go?

I thought she was getting mostly support on there.

It is frustrating because I can only dip into this thread.

Did Posie use the word 'sterilise'?

What exactly were the 'racist' words?

What exactly were the 'islamaphobic' tweets?

I haven't read any so far and I think i've seen a lot of paraphrasing.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 14:57

In fact, the sterilisation thing is one reason I’m so opposed to affirmative treatment for youngsters. A lot of that treatment will leave them sterile or set them on a path to treatment that will and it’s such a huge deal. I find it so disturbing.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 31/05/2018 14:58

"the idea of telling a baby it has no mother when it does is disturbing to me"
Actually it's totally fucked up. It's pure cruelty.

I deplore the sterlisation comment.

I can be very much opposed to both.

MissSusanSays · 31/05/2018 14:59

It begins. The whataboutery. The gaslighting.

And lo, it was nearly 3 o’clock on Thursday what the aunt said unto the handmaidens that they were all bigots because one of them made ill judge comment.

Then did the beasts of the field weep blood and the sky became a sack cloth. Yadda yadda yadda.

RatRolyPoly · 31/05/2018 15:00

Oh no Bowl, hope everything's okay! The smallest is well on the mend; I feared mumps, turns out it's just a virus and a gland the size of a golf ball. Should all resolve itself in time :)

HarryLovesDraco · 31/05/2018 15:01

@permissiontospeaksir

Posie
Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:02

He’s OK rat one of those ‘probably nothing but small chance of horrendous so come in anyway’ things. Given a tentative all clear and instructions to watch him.

Glad small rat is OK. Mumps is no fun - had that as a kid!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 31/05/2018 15:03

But forced sterilisation is a line I won’t cross

This is probably off topic - but what about in cases where the 'mother' has brought forth more than one drug-addicted baby?

spontaneousgiventime · 31/05/2018 15:06

Trans women are men
Trans men are women

So as women we agree that some women should be automatically sterilised?

Fuck that...

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:06

I can be very much opposed to both.

This. There are very few people I think I’d blindly agree with everything they say, or disagree with everything. Most people have a range of views and you can agree with some and condemn others. It’s one reason I’m wary of joining groups or aligning myself with specific people - this need of people to absolutely condemn or condone. Even Michael gove said something I agree with the other week.

I absolutely disagree in the strongest possible terms with the sterilisation tweet. I agree with an awful lot of the other things posie has said on transgender ideology in general, including pregnancy while on hormone treatment.

We do not need to divide people into angels and demons to have a debate.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 15:07

Do we? I certainly don't and nor does anyone else that I can see.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:09

This is probably off topic - but what about in cases where the 'mother' has brought forth more than one drug-addicted baby?

In very very specific circumstances and with very, very strong safeguards, long acting reversible contraception as an enforced option could be considered. Sterilisation no. The fact is that to allow it you need a framework in which it’s allowed, and that framework historically has always been abused.

spontaneousgiventime · 31/05/2018 15:09

Ereshkigal - Do we? I certainly don't and nor does anyone else that I can see.

Was that at me? Maybe you don't, I don't either but some do and it's abhorrent.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:11

Do we? I certainly don't and nor does anyone else that I can see.

You don’t, most people on here don’t. Places who no-platform do. People who do twitter pile-ons do. It’s a worrying trend, and I think it’s tied up with all the identity politics stuff. A significant portion of the online world seems to want to put everyone in either ‘with us’ or ‘against us’ boxes.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 15:11

Yes sorry. I really don't think that anyone does here.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:12

No need for a sorry! I think I worded it badly, it did sound like I was saying people on the thread.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 15:12

Sorry confusing cross posting that was directed at spontaneous.

spontaneousgiventime · 31/05/2018 15:12

Posie does and some here agree with her, so...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 31/05/2018 15:13

The fact is that to allow it you need a framework in which it’s allowed, and that framework historically has always been abused

I'm only partly playing Devil's advocate because aspects of my work bring me into contact with young people born with FAS, but one could argue that pronatalism, or even the unfettered right to reproduce, have also been abused.

What was the sterilisation tweet anyway?

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 15:14

Posie has said she didn't mean that. And I don't see anyone agreeing with the idea that people should be forcibly sterilised.

spontaneousgiventime · 31/05/2018 15:15

Ereshkigal I don't buy Posies explanation and others don't either.

UpUrm · 31/05/2018 15:16

She said what she said.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/05/2018 15:21

but one could argue that pronatalism, or even the unfettered right to reproduce, have also been abused.

Yep, you absolutely could. And I bet in your line of work you see some heartbreaking stuff. No easy answers...

PermissionToSpeakSir · 31/05/2018 15:21

I don't agree with forced sterilisation (even for women caught in a cycle of drug addiction/prostitution - it is punishing/blaming women- why not DNA test the babies, then trace and force the men who abuse the women to have vasectomies?) I see it as akin to advocating the death penalty - but is that what Posie actually meant?

It is a bit strong, but plenty of people seem to recommend cutting dick and balls off to welcome men into 'womanhood' - a position I also disagree with.

It is ridiculous to birth a child and call yourself a man.

Reproducing is a sexed thing. If you want to do it then you are admitting your sex and need to stop dicking the world around with your bullshit claims of dysphoria.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 31/05/2018 15:26

I find yet again PermissionToSpeakSir that I agree entirely with your last remarks.

As an aside - I noted somewhere that an older woman had suggested recently to me that men should be castrated as a means of birth control - at the time I dismissed it but the more I reflect on it, the more I think it could have merit …..
