Where the fuck has the Posie thread gone and why??

So posie has views which have got her no platformed by WPUK.

and now MN will not let us discuss her no platforming???

WTF is happening?? How scary is this shit?

The reason I can see given is that the WPUK decision was not to do with MN.

99% of threads are about people/organsitions/decisions not to do with MN. That explanation makes no sense.

Did Posie ask for it to go?

I thought she was getting mostly support on there.

Male first name obviously

CharlieParley · 30/05/2018 22:52

MistAmougstElephants that's exactly what's so confusing about this whole thing. I don't know anything about Posie beyond her being interviewed by the police for stating known facts. That happening is interesting in a debate where one side struggles to be heard. No more, no less.

Posie can speak with authority on her individual story and it does indeed contribute to this debate. But as this isn't an organisation and we're not a homogenised group, the GC women on MN don't have leaders, we have countless outspoken women we may choose to listen to or ignore.

WPUK as a group have to make their own decisions and I understand why they did what they did (although I feel taken aback at how they've thrown her under the bus in the process).

Personally, I disagree with Posie on the transmen having babies issue, always have but especially after seeing a documentary about it. I agree on the hijabs for prepubescent girls.

I don't think kids should have any nationwide holiday for religious reasons (FYI Easter and Christmas are based on ancient pre-Christian festivals), in fact I would prefer an extremely strict separation of state and church in all aspects of our lives. Which loads and loads of women here may disagree with.

But why would myself having the view that (all organised) religions are deeply damaging and dangerous throw a bad light on the FWR board on MN? Obviously Posie is known to far more people than me but FWR is not her keeper either...

"When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail."

This thread is starting to feel like that old episode of Star Trek, where Kirk is stranded on a planet where the only language is allegorical and oblique reference to incidents of a past history he doesn't know.

Can you make your point a bit clearer so the rest of us can join in please Bewilderness?

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:56

Read the post you quoted again, SuperDandy. It says: If the mother is actually present but is denying that they are the child's mother, this is lying to the child and is not good for them."

Nauticant: Lying to children in bad for them.
You: Posts that say, or imply strongly (not in these exact words because I can't quote them all), that having a trans man as a parent is damaging to children, are reminiscent to me of attitutudes from the past that having same sex parents would be damaging to children.

You did quote them. And then you pretended they imply something entirely different from what they clearly stated.

SuperDandy · 30/05/2018 22:58

"Well do carry on reminiscing. No doubt your posts will appear on twitter as proof that the feminists here are considered homophobic, you were aware of that but chose to do that anyway. As you say, you are not surprised we are not all chuffed to bits with your contribution"

So what now, I've set you up to get copied on twitter? No, that's was not one tiny bit on my mind when I chose to stick my head above the parapet and actually post what I was thinking as I read this thread. It's not a conspiracy, I'm not our to get you, I just disagree with you and chose to actually say so.

I don't expect or want you to be chuffed to bits with my posts. It would have been nice not to be troll hunted though.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 23:06

No one believes that you do not understand why accusing Nauticant of homophobia would get a negative response considering you said up front you knew it would.
Women expressing concern for the well being of children is called transphobic by transgender advocates.

SuperDandy · 30/05/2018 23:08

So I'm going to unpick this hammer nail thing a little more then. You're saying I'm showing confirmation bias in perceiving certain posts as implying what I think they do?

Interesting. Of course we're all subject to confirmation bias. I don't feel that I'm jumping at shadows in this case, but we can agree to disagree.

I'll duck my head down again for a while, and then the next time I see what I think I see and decide to post about it, you and Picasso can troll hunt me all over again.

SuperDandy · 30/05/2018 23:15

I did not say or imply that anyone or any post was homophobic. I feel like this has now taken a rather unpleasant turn in tone.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 23:15

charlie you phrased it as ALL organised religions are damaging and I don't think that throws MN in a bad light nor you its your opinion. Posie said different things which, to me, looks bad on Posie.

I didn't comment on hijabs because I grew up with friends wearing them from early ages and I don't really notice them it's normalised to me.

I've worn hijabs when appropriate and to me it was part of my friends' womanhood (and style!) that they sometimes shared with me.

Also I am deeply uncomfortable with telling a woman or girl what to wear.

I didn't know a lot about Posie until this thread. She's no one official is she? Idk. It proves her point though people don't like women with loud opinions.

And by the time I've posted this I wonder how much the thread has moved on...

spontaneousgiventime · 30/05/2018 23:18

I feel like this has now taken a rather unpleasant turn in tone.

That's what happens when you have a different opinion.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 23:19

What is there to unpick.
She said lying to children is bad, and you associate it with homophobic comments made about same sex couples having children.
Wait till you witness one of our knock down drag outs over people who lie to their children about Santy Claws and the Tooth Fairy.

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 23:19

Mist I am a big fan of women with strong opinions actually. Not racist/islamophobic ones though or ones calling for sterilisation. I like to think of myself as a woman with strong opinions as well.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 23:20

I was talking more generally peak not about you.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 23:21

That's what happens when you have a different opinion.
Or imply that being opposed to lying to children is homophobic. One of those, surely.

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 23:22

I get that but in this case I think the unpopularity of her view comes from the content of what she said, not that she is an outspoken woman.

spontaneousgiventime · 30/05/2018 23:23

thebewilderness I was speaking in general terms. Upset some here and watch the tone change and the subtle accusations fly.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 23:32

peak Men in high power positions say shit like her and don't get half the clap back. She can be both questionably racist and a victim of sexism at the same time.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 23:33

*in my opinion!

SuperDandy · 30/05/2018 23:33

"Or imply that being opposed to lying to children is homophobic."

Again, this is not what I suggested, implied or said.

LangCleg · 30/05/2018 23:33

Well, this thread went to shit. Or went to even more shit, should I say?

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 23:37

Who you gonna believe? SuperDandy, or your lying eyes?

I don't understand any of this thread since people started talking about recipes. I'm getting it's MN code that you have to be in the know to know.

I came back to see where the general sense/ feelings of the Posie/ WP issue had ended after a good few hours.

Not sure but the recipe was nice. Or should that read naice?

Two things I learned, the gallopy thing and that uppity has racial connotations? Never heard of that, interesting and I shall be careful with that from now on.
