Where the fuck has the Posie thread gone and why??

So posie has views which have got her no platformed by WPUK.

and now MN will not let us discuss her no platforming???

WTF is happening?? How scary is this shit?

The reason I can see given is that the WPUK decision was not to do with MN.

99% of threads are about people/organsitions/decisions not to do with MN. That explanation makes no sense.

Did Posie ask for it to go?

I thought she was getting mostly support on there.

Bewildered I have pissedoffwoman's carrot cake recipe somewhere and I think I have a screenshot of your lemon curd.

And they say feminism on MN is a waste of time Grin

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 22:02

Was that directed at anyone in particular Bewilderness? Or do you mean there's some sort of co-ordinated Gish Galloping action going on here?

Probably at me tbf. And probably because she knows she is clutching at straws on this one.

Melamin · 30/05/2018 22:04

I feel sorry for the children. There are too many competing interests trying to vie their way into schools to get their agenda taught, and tell them what they should be taught and how and by whom. There is no respect for the children and no matter how ideology is spoon fed them, they will grow up learning how the world works and work it in the way that suits them best. Just like all the adults did to them.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:04

Not what I said. You said evil laws made by men

That is indeed what I said. There are thousands of them cruel and evil made when women did not even have the vote or a separate identity from the males who owned us.
But you are absolutely correct. A woman is guilty of proposing an evil law once so clearly they are exactly equal.

speakingwoman · 30/05/2018 22:04

thank you rat for clearing that up.
I knew Charlie couldn't be right and hoped that someone would give us some facts.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:06

I need a good carrot cake recipe. Most of them are too sweet for me.

speakingwoman · 30/05/2018 22:07

Posie how come you're happy to be learn about the (probably US originating) problem with uppity and take that on board.
But not prepared to look at the words you used on the sterilisation tweet?
GRRRR!

SuperDandy · 30/05/2018 22:09

Also not a troll, nor an MRA or TRA or a man or a sea lion or a seagull or plopper or any of the other things.

You know, I was speculating before I hit POST as to how long I'd get before being troll hunted or otherwise called out. So depressingly predictable.

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 22:09

But you are absolutely correct. A woman is guilty of proposing an evil law once so clearly they are exactly equal.

You don't make it easy do you? Never said they were equal. I am very well aware of female oppression throughout history. However, this is why I said what I said:

PP: this sounds like the arguments made re homosexuality in 80s
You: oh let's compare a woman having an opinion to evil laws made by men
Me: actually, that particular law was made by a woman as PM
You: misogyny

I agree that throughout history, that vast majority of evil laws have indeed been made by men and women have been oppressed. That does not exempt them from critique. I don't give Katie Hopkins a free pass for having XX chromosomes and nor will I do so for Posie Parker. It's not about being outspoken, it's about being offensive.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:10

speakingwoman
If you want Posie Parker to hear you it is necessary to put an @ inside the * that you use to bold the name.

BeyondSceptical · 30/05/2018 22:12

Ah I've never heard of a gish gallop either. Interesting, thanks

birdsdestiny · 30/05/2018 22:13

Not a troll not an Mra, mostly lurk but have commented enough for my views to be clear. WPUK have always seemed to me a well organised, and above all serious organisation. They have acted in a way I would have expected them to.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 22:13

First time uploading bewilderness so bare with me if it's wrong!

The refrain of "we welcome posters with differing views to discuss them here" is deeply and repeatedly undermined by all the recipe posts and we see yous and clip clops.

Troll hunting is still troll hunting, however you dress it up.

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 22:15

To be fair, that does look quite nice, Mist. Might add it to my recipe collection.

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:15

That does not exempt them from critique.

You appear to have lost sight of the fact that the original critique was one of targeting FWR women with guilt by association.
That is what you are doubling down on.

spontaneousgiventime · 30/05/2018 22:16

Gish gallop - make an accusation of to shut people up who's views you don't like!

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:18

That looks delish, Mist. Thanks.

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 22:18

True. The recipe thing in particular. They know I am not a troll and MNHQ can confirm I am not a troll and that I have been on here for yonks, yet because I say something some posters disagree with, they treat me as if I have started a thread saying 'why are all women such bitches?' It's unnecessary because it won't make me go away and it clutters up the thread for others. Debate means including those with differing opinions.

BeyondSceptical · 30/05/2018 22:20

Haven't read the definition, I don't think I've seen any here - I just saying it was an interesting concept (I have definitely seen it done before otoh, and now I know what it's called)

thebewilderness · 30/05/2018 22:20

Obviously my joke about the sudden flood of posts looking like a Gish Gallop was neither understood nor appreciated.
I beg your pardon for not being clearer and adding a snark tag.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 22:20

spontaneous thank you I had no idea!

peak was a cracking cake, I altered it a bit off cuff to suit my families dietary needs but it's a great basic recipe. Never be afraid of fat Grin

PeakPants · 30/05/2018 22:21

Okay, sorry I said that. I did not mean everyone on FWR. That post has been deleted anyway. Still no need to do the recipe thing at me. I don't spam you with lemon curd recipes in a bid to drown out your voice so no need to do it to me.

CharlieParley · 30/05/2018 22:22

speakingwoman Rat did not clear up what I said. Rat cleared up what somebody thought it meant.

At least 21 countries do indeed require trans people to undergo sterilisation before they can legally change gender. This is understood as forced sterilisation because it's not a free choice trans people in those countries make. Instead it's either get sterilised or don't get legally recognised.

The misunderstanding was that sterilisation is required for anyone who wishes to transition (socially and/or medically). As rat pointed out, trans people in those countries are free to attempt to live in their chosen gender without being sterilised. But because this means they don't have a legal recognition of their chosen gender, that's not an easy choice to make.

And for the record, I disagree with this requirement. Such a difficult, irreversible choice should always be freely made.

MistAmougstElephants · 30/05/2018 22:22

peak i share cake in good faith btw. It's a reminder that everyone likes cake and there you have it common ground - Voila.
