Where the fuck has the Posie thread gone and why??

So posie has views which have got her no platformed by WPUK.

and now MN will not let us discuss her no platforming???

WTF is happening?? How scary is this shit?

The reason I can see given is that the WPUK decision was not to do with MN.

99% of threads are about people/organsitions/decisions not to do with MN. That explanation makes no sense.

Did Posie ask for it to go?

I thought she was getting mostly support on there.

Anyone wondering, no medical transition is required whatsoever to obtain a GRC under current rules.

So why the need then for Self Id?

No hormones? Rat

HarryLovesDraco · 30/05/2018 19:17

Nobody should be sterilised against their wishes. Not to obtain a GRC nor to go on hormones.
Children should not be sterilised, ever.

Does that really need to be spelled out?

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:17

If the definition is clear then you can tell me what the definition of a child is.

Assigned

therealposieparker · 30/05/2018 19:18

Ah I may have called him uppity, but not a word I'd usually use about anyone.... had he used it first?

Magpiesarehuge · 30/05/2018 19:18

Wtf were WPUK thinking - what a bloody mess. They knew Posie’s blunt, controversial and sometimes offensive style but went with it when it suited them - they probably should never have platformed her in the first place if her open views were too much for them - the can’t pretend they weren’t aware - but it suited their purposes at the time when she was getting some press - and now they’re disconnecting in this public way? This could have been handled quietly and privately. Crack on with such an own goal.

HarryLovesDraco · 30/05/2018 19:19

Elendon what are you on about?

Spontaneous said sterilisation of adult TIMs was by choice. Assigned said it wasn't a choice if they are children. Now you are asking her to define what a child is? Why?

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:20

Is a 15 year old able to sign a consent form for an operation?

NO is the answer.

flashnazia · 30/05/2018 19:20

@elendon that's fair enough but you need to look at the environment we are in. Muslims are getting a lot of flak at the moment and don't need people chiming in and having an extra go at them under the guise of being anti religion. The younger female Muslims are rising up to question patriarchal interpretations of text. Why alienate them?
Gender critical feminists are already being likened to the alt right. Why provide more ammunition?

In the UK a child becomes and adult at 18. I thought we all accepted that?

Bowlofbabelfish · 30/05/2018 19:21

I doubt trans men would be allowed to get pregnant whilst on T. It is obviously highly teratogenic. Or even be able?

It is actually possible. It generally stops periods but there have been cases of transmen getting pregnant while on testosterone, despite lack of periods.

Testosterone is pregnancy category X - the most harmful- and there would be expected to be significant effects on the foetus if it was taken.

Overall I don’t think there’s enough work or cases to really have a solid evidence base. Obviously you’d be advised to stop well before you even wanted to conceive but apparently it has happened. It’s just a very new area really.

HarryLovesDraco · 30/05/2018 19:23

Plenty of TIFs buy T online too

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:23

what are you on about?

Do you hear yourself when you ask that question?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 30/05/2018 19:24

Elendon

I'm not sure what you think I am saying, but I certainly do not think a child, which is person under 18 should be making life changing decisions.

I'm sure that some people could make the case for 16/17 yr olds but hey

chajazam · 30/05/2018 19:26

Posie- I don’t think so and usually I’d think nothing of it but it stood out at the time. Dont get me wrong- I admire a lot of what you do! But, saying what you want means people will get offended sometimes. Like I said it wasn’t something I wanted or needed to report but doesn’t mean I agreed with the term.

SupermatchGame · 30/05/2018 19:26

Did you actually read that NHS page you quoted Elendon? I don't think you did.

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:27

see my link above at 19:20.04

At sixteen a 'child' can consent to an operation, get married, have sex and children legally without prosecution, and they can work.

They cannot drive or vote though.

Magpiesarehuge · 30/05/2018 19:27

Tbh, i associated “uppity” with sexist connotations and use it to describe the treatment often directed at “uppity women”

RatRolyPoly · 30/05/2018 19:28

So why the need then for Self Id?

I'm confused; do you think self-ID is predominantly the difference between requiring surgery and/or hormones and not? Sorry, I don't mean to be funny, I am asking genuinely.

No hormones? Rat

No, there is no explicit requirement to be taking hormones.

You have to provide two medical reports, at least one including your diagnosis or gender dysphoria. They ask that you include details of any medical transition you may have undergone. That's all.

spontaneousgiventime · 30/05/2018 19:28

Elendon I am fully aware of that, thank you! Legally you are an adult at 18.

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:29

Yes. Game.

Elendon · 30/05/2018 19:30

So Poly

Why are these meetings taking place?

Can you enlighten me?

therealposieparker · 30/05/2018 19:30

I had no idea of racist connotations of "uppity", but rarely use it. Now raised I can understand why it could be sensitive around race.

SupermatchGame · 30/05/2018 19:30

Testosterone is pregnancy category X - the most harmful- and there would be expected to be significant effects on the foetus if it was taken.

Exactly Bowl. My understanding is that they do absolutely have to come off T before getting pregnant.
