It takes real balls to do that.......and wear a mankini lol

Archived link;

We need an art exhibit in a library, and the mankini takes pride of place.

Juells · 29/05/2018 11:16

Some of the comments made my blood pressure soar 😡

RTFA before spouting off about 'ridiculous women' not wanting men to have a space to themselves.

gendercritter · 29/05/2018 11:21

That's actually a really great article. I roared with laughter at spotting the mankini. That was so brave.

And fascinating that in reality, men value their single-sex facilities too. Segregation does matter

Baroquehavoc · 29/05/2018 11:23

It's interesting that many will comment without actually reading the article, let alone thinking about it for a while. Shows that people don't actually want to listen to women.

Fantastic mankini wearing.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 29/05/2018 11:54

It's top billing on the DM now!

So well done Sweary and mates - this is how civil disobedience gets people informed about what's going on.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 29/05/2018 12:00

The Mankini is just awesome. Amy is my new shero. Love Sweary's T shirt too

Nhsbytes · 29/05/2018 12:05

I plan on doing the same for the woman's only pool but on a larger scale

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 29/05/2018 12:07

Do wear a mankini NHS

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 29/05/2018 12:18

PC Barry Macefield said
They've had a chance to make their point which they have done peacefully – but you can't enter a facility designated for the opposite sex, and if this occurs with men in the women's ponds we'd deal with that too.
Really Barry? Are you absolutely sure about that? Barry might be about to go on a re-education course with Hampstead Heath constabulary, I feel. Either that or Barry has just inadvertently and single handedly knocked the whole issue of self ID on the head.

OldCrone · 29/05/2018 12:38

if this occurs with men in the women's ponds we'd deal with that too.

Except they won't, because men are already allowed to use the women's pond according to a statement made earlier this year:

In a statement, the KLPA said it was committed “to helping to create at the Ladies’ Pond an inclusive environment for all women, including transgender women, which is free from discrimination, harassment or victimisation”.

“Although it is tempting to assume someone’s gender simply by their appearance, it’s important to try to avoid doing so and to be aware of the needs of genuinely transgender women.

www.theguardian.com/world/2018/feb/09/debate-over-inclusion-of-trans-women-in-women-only-spaces-intensifies

How will PC Barry Macefield and his colleagues know who is a 'genuinely transgender woman' and who is just pretending to be a transgender woman?

Baroquehavoc · 29/05/2018 15:31

How will PC Barry Macefield and his colleagues know who is a 'genuinely transgender woman' and who is just pretending to be a transgender woman?

Easy, which rule of misogyny is 'Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.'

ProfessionalBarren · 29/05/2018 15:44

'go girls'? I'm disgusted at this blantant misgendering. You are committing literal violence on those brave lads. Go chaps!

SofieMonde · 29/05/2018 16:56

'Girls' was referring to the cops lol

Amy and your other bloke mates- wow you guys are totally inspiring heroes. Slaps on the back and fist bumps all round. Thank you for doing this. It’s so important to have this debate out there in public and you chaps are doing it in such a witty, articulate way. FlowersFlowersFlowers

PS as for the male swimmers the DM says shouted out ‘they’re women!’- can you imagine what would happen to women swimmers who shouted out ‘they’re men!’if it were TRAs getting in the women’s pool- they would be worrying for their own safety from TRAs.

Women are being silenced by this in a way that other men won’t be so it’s really important that you are taking this debate into men’s spaces so they understand what legal gender self ID means for them, and then they penny will drop about the consequences for us, (women) too.

sleepingdragons · 29/05/2018 17:18

Amy Desir from ManFriday is on BBCRadio4 PM with Jane Fae now...

Listen here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_fourfm

ChattyLion · 29/05/2018 17:28

Thanks for the link- listening now. What utter bollocks! You have to promise to self ID as the other sex for life and if you don’t you go to prison for perjury. WTF??
That’s ludicrous and also that doesn’t deal with the issue that women want and need their own spaces.

Amy is such a brilliant, clear, articulate speaker. Wow. Thank you.

ChattyLion · 29/05/2018 17:29

WTF? Prisons is not the only arena this is relevant in (Contrary to Jane Fae’s assertion)

BettyFloop · 29/05/2018 17:30

Just heard PM too.
Amy Desir - clear, concise argument presented with evidence.

BettyFloop · 29/05/2018 17:33

Sorry, fat thumbs... Blush

Just heard PM too.
Amy Desir - clear, concise argument presented with evidence.
Jane Fae - all over the place.

Well done all Man Fridayers - I salute you!

ShovingLeopard · 29/05/2018 17:33

Brilliant stuff! The mankini was particularly inspired.

I imagine West Yorks police will be champing at the bit to hot foot it down the motorway to 're-educate' PC Barry and his Met colleagues now.

Poppyred85 · 29/05/2018 17:36

Just heard this in the car and have come to post ASAP to say well done to Amy! You were calm, clear and gave examples of what we’re objecting to. Your comments about support of trans people and how the current law is fine, the process needs clarifying were perfect, not least because it made Jane Fae’s argument that we’re all big meanies a nonsense. Jane Fae on the other hand only seemed to have Jane Fae’s opinion on this and that was all. Shame they gave Jane Fae the last word on it but you were fab!

RaininSummer · 29/05/2018 17:42

Just spent half an hour commenting and red green arrowing. Why are so many people so thick. Arggg
