I agree, we don't leave. We stand our ground. Twitter is an important way to find allies too.

Hyppolyta · 27/05/2018 10:09

Ive been suspended and made to delete tweets for the exact same reason.

I called an adult male, a man.

The second my ban is lifted I'll re-tweet it.
They can ban me for life, I'll happily get posters printed saying the same and coat the town with them.

I refuse to be silenced.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 10:19

They don't look at the content of tweets. It's an algorithm being manipulated by transactivist. If a tweet / poster gets a certain number of reports and blocks, it's gone. I understand twitter has being told how terfblocker and other abusive accounts are using this against women, but nothing is being done.

LangCleg · 27/05/2018 10:19

They are but this is a crucial moment in the advance of men's rights and the regression or destruction of women's rights. I don't think we should leave our places at the front line so long as we aren't banned.

I agree.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 10:19

I'm with hypp and Blythe.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 10:22

The TRA send out a signal and people mass report and block, leading to suspensions and bans. This is people who have nothing else to do except obsess about validation. Basement dwellers, mirror gazers. It's a minority of utter narcissists removing women from a public sphere.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 10:23

Wish I knew who you lot are on twitter. We prob follow each other.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/05/2018 10:26

The problem is that they are banning women and because they force you to log your telephone, you can't set an account up under that and you can't delete the account if you are suspended. I got to the stage that they were putting me back in twitter jail even though I had not tweeted since the previous release. So I deleted the account. I may set up another, but at the moment, I can't be arsed. But I was being suspended for fuck all. If you say that men can't become women, this is now classed as 'hate speech'.

Grim

JoanSummers · 27/05/2018 10:42

I'd like to think it was possible to voice facts here, like that adult male humans are men. This thread is a test of that - there are posts already on here that state this face which I suspect will be reported and deleted. Because it is 'not in the spirit' to name men as men, on a board mostly used by women (actual women as opposed to men in cosplay).

Terfulike · 27/05/2018 11:02

I think on mn it's when we say x is a man and name and shame him as such. We are allowed to make general statements.
The key difference with twitter is you get suspended either temporarily or permanently, whereas on mn just that comment gets deleted. I think that's how it works.

The comment by Mama at 2.05 am stands, as do the screenshots. I think the motive has to be to irritate someone on mn to get deleted. Just trying to remember a memo from Kate I read.

I don't use Twitter. So my question may show my ignorance!
If accounts get blocked simply due to a number of complaints, why don't people just repeatedly complain about ones that are misogynistic and abusive and get those blocked?

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 12:55

Beamur: women do report the abusivectweets and accounts and some do get reprimanded and rarely, suspended. But this kind of intensive, obsessive campaign is not really within the ability of most working women. We are talking about tech transactivists who live online and have nothing to do except take offence and wage war.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 12:56

Working women here means women who work at life: jobs, child rearing, caring, volunteering, cleaning etc: all the work that women do.

Beamur · 27/05/2018 15:10

I get it. Better things to do!

Mamaryllis · 27/05/2018 15:37

It’s very interesting.
Can we say ‘Aimee Challenor is a transwoman. Transwomen are not women.’?
I’m fascinated that it is no longer acceptable to recognize biological reality.
This is the mentality that allows Kimberly Nixon (another transwoman) to drag Vancouver Rape Relief through the courts for not providing access in a one to one setting to female rape victims.

If you are not allowed to recognize biological reality, you are removing female rape victims’ rights to sex-segregated spaces.

MNHQ, there is a REASON we are being pedants about biological sex.
No one hates transwomen. We aren’t misgendering them to their faces and waving baseball bats. But silencing our means of communicating to discuss our silencing is pretty low.

Transwomen are men. Most of them are fully intact men.

Bill C-16 has not been passed in the UK. We aren’t ‘misgendering’. We are reporting actual sex.

Mamaryllis · 27/05/2018 15:45

Beamur - yes, totally. Better things to do.
But as my (now deleted) post upthread pointed out, Aimee Challenor recreated the terfblocker list, (which is laughable - as a list of transphobia it included such well known terfs as the South Battersea Brownies) with a load of techy mates. This list is used to mass block all ‘terf’ accounts.
Aimee and techy friends boast about their technical prowess and have inside info on how the twitter algorithms work for bans. So their wee army of twitter warriors (who apparently have no jobs of other merit) create mass reporting campaigns against whoever they want to silence next.
It’s actually quite alarming.

I’m still fascinated that we are being forced into mis-sexing by mnhq.

It’s a feature of social media currently. Force people to lie or remove their voice.

Fascinating.

Grin @ Miranda

Exactly what did Miranda say that was too offensive for us to read??

Ugh.

Just disgusting that Mumsnet, a website for women, is complicit in our silencing.

LaSqrrl · 28/05/2018 00:09

The comment by Mama at 2.05 am stands, as do the screenshots.
But now removed it seems. I checked.

I am about to check out mewe and see how it fares, against FB primarily. I don't Twitter much (my last post was IWD 2016), mainly I did not like the format that much (and you know, being too bloody wordy all the time 140 characters, you have to be kidding me!!!) LOL
