Venice was spot on. Well done!

Jollygrandma · 21/05/2018 14:27

Well done to whoever made this public.

I wonder what 'dealt with VERY SOON', means. Could be yet another series of tweets, but capitalising very soon, could mean they intend to involve Snapchat.

@Natalie
If a crime has been committed here, ANYONE can report to the police. Including you. I believe the non-emergency number is most appropriate here, but if you feel that the nature of the crime being committed is serious and urgent enough, feel free to dial 999.

HTH

TheUterati · 21/05/2018 15:21

@Ariel,

Got my details have you? Bring it on....

JoanSummers · 21/05/2018 15:39

So has Mumsnet got anything to say about that? How can we tag them in to find out? I think that sort of threat requires a statement from someone here right?

What I don't get is how these people keep threatening women here and the site itself and yet the site doesn't stand up and just bluntly tell them to fuck off and it's members can talk about this subject as much as they like, as long as we aren't threatening anyone or inciting violence against anyone.

JoanSummers · 21/05/2018 15:43

Also threatening to reveal confidential information about members stolen from a website like this one where people talk about their children etc seems like just the threat it itself it would be breaking at least one law, let alone carrying it out. That tweeter has to be guilty of either deliberately lying to cause panic/harm, or guilty of planning to cause panic/harm, or eventually guilty of being part of a criminal act.

Anyone know the laws around this?

Ereshkigal · 21/05/2018 15:47

I think Ariel is a nasty little fantasist. No more no less.

Ereshkigal · 21/05/2018 15:50

So I think Ariel is probably bluffing. But yes, it's completely out of order to threaten people based on illegally receiving personal information.

NotTerfNorCis · 21/05/2018 15:52

Strange thing, but I've never seen people on Mumsnet threaten to 'deal with TRAs VERY SOON' because 'somebody has the information'. On the other hand this isn't the first time I've seen TRAs threaten to doxx feminists. Who are the bad guys here?

ScarletBegonias · 21/05/2018 15:54

I just had a look at Ariel's Twitter feed. It includes several posts consisting of "TRANSWOMEN ARE WOMEN" repeated over and over again.

Sounds like someone having difficulty convincing themselves of something.

Sarahconnor1 · 21/05/2018 16:01

Yes I also think Ariel is bluffing. It's just another sinister attempt to silence women.

If it's not a bluff bring it on. Nothing I have said here is illegal or even controversial. So to release my details along with anything that suggests otherwise will land them in court.

Mamaryllis · 21/05/2018 16:03

Again with the outing and doxxing?
Yawn.
Women must be punished for believing in reality, says man. Same shit, different day.

JoanSummers · 21/05/2018 16:04

I've seen Ariels comments several times on different thread over the past month or so and tbh I have at times wondered if it is a satirical account run by someone gender critical. All their comments seem to be really extreme and some are totally bizarre.

But I don't think a GC person would make a threat like that even as satire.

Mamaryllis · 21/05/2018 16:06

But I am loving that someone leaked that vid. That’s very heartening.

Juells · 21/05/2018 16:13

OH NO! They have all our details! Stop talking immediately and they might not take action against us!

Fucking men just can't stand having women talk among themselves, can they?

spontaneousgiventime · 21/05/2018 16:16

Oh good grief, is that the new attempt to shut us up, threats and intimidation? What a crock, they need to read up about what feminists faced in the 70's. Someone making ridiculous threats on Twitter is the least of our worries.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 21/05/2018 16:18

Well done to Venice, you really spoke well in that piece.

LOL @ the 'coming to get us' threats. Bring it on, saddos

Sarahconnor1 · 21/05/2018 16:18

If I recall Ariel first made these threats about doxxing when one of the two interns/ex employee of MN wrote their blogs Ariel suggested that more info had been stolen and it would be released.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 21/05/2018 16:22

So is it completely unacceptable now to discuss the ethics of children and young people having healthy body parts amputated? Or do we just need to avoid referring to specific cases?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/05/2018 16:31

The police will be here to arrest us all shortly along with everyone else who doesn't believe men can become women. The prisons are going to be a bit full and the country will grind to a halt, but hey, anything to stop transphobia.

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/05/2018 16:33

If Ariel does, they will be breaking a couple of data protection laws and will be legally liable. The person or people who obtained the data could also face penalties under data protection law. The details will all be on the data protection threads after the intern leaks - it’s a big deal taking customer data.

I also agree that MNHQ need to be very firm about this and say that this topic gets the same moderation as anything else. Threats (not that I’ve ever seen one) and violence and hatred get modded. They always have, and people do report off colour posts. The tone of debate here is robust but it's polite . Beyond that, they need to stop trying to engage or compromise. TRAs don’t want to compromise, they want MNs head on a plate. You don’t win with abusers who want to destroy you. You put a legal boundary down and you leave it there, and you disengage.
