A woman who is blocked from view, Phillip Bunce who is sometimes dressed as female, Maria Miller MP, Trans woman Bex or Aimee (they look the same to me) and a bloke. They are discussing trans inclusion and the girl guides.

Trans activists have gone after so many different female centred organisations. I don't see how it is possible to read this as anything other than an attack on women.

This - look for the pattern…not as each as a one off.

They want girls to grow up thinking of it as normal to have no connection to the women around them.

I don't know if it's actually deliberate but I think this is true. The nurturing power of women only spaces is an existential threat. That's why the lashing out is so vicious.

One of the biggest shocks I personally had was realising abusive men deliberately set out to severe the bond of the children with their mother - by separation, undermining, putdowns, ignoring, blaming etc. So I have no doubt this is deliberate - as orphans are a lot easier to control, whereas she-wolves are not.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 16/05/2018 15:55

It's massively about sanitising and normalising kink and fetish. Cross dressers, transvestites. If they can create a loophole making them legally women they are in everywhere.

That's what Shelia Jeffreys was presetting about in the House of Commons back in March which caused such utter rage among the narcs. They have been working towards this since the 1970s.

Someone like Stephen Whittle is just a cover.

This. It's PIE all over again. Most don't comprehend the duality of sexual predatation and abusive men - it's all about grooming.

DrudgeJedd · 16/05/2018 18:13

Jonny Whitehead, the man in charge of safeguarding at Guides used to work for a childrens charity in Africa, did he bring in this change or did it precede him?

loveyouradvice · 16/05/2018 22:41

picasso thanks for sharing Miranda .. the only sane piece I have read about Bunce.... longing to ask a mate of mine what they ACTUALLY make of him at Citi....

Picassospaintbrush · 16/05/2018 22:49

He's at Credit Suisse. Not Citi.

ChattyLion · 16/05/2018 23:27

The chief exec of the Guides (Julie Bentley) used to be the chief Exec at the frickin’ Family Planning Association. I am fairly sure that means she knows a fair bit about relevant issues to this affecting women and young people, given that the FPA offers parents and others advice and training about young people and relationships and particularly around consent issues and safeguarding.

Anyone who has worked at the FPA you would expect will have a pretty good understanding of how babies are made and that biological sex is actually real and not a made up or feelz-based thing.

So what on earth is actually going on here at this meeting in Parliament? When the Guides senior people have said they won’t meet with women’s groups in order to discuss their concerns around safeguarding etc? Shock WTAF? That is not the action of a non campaigning charity..

Ereshkigal · 16/05/2018 23:30

When the Guides senior people have said they won’t meet with women’s groups in order to discuss their concerns around safeguarding etc?

So they won't meet with women's groups but they will meet with Phil/Pips fucking Bunce?

Pratchet · 16/05/2018 23:31

Julie Bentley's social circle

LaSqrrl · 17/05/2018 12:14

The plot, as they say, thickens...

It's just not rational that GGs would suddenly just chuck out safeguarding. More is at play, behind the scenes.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/05/2018 12:39

What do you think it could be?

I mean it can't be good can it.. .

Ereshkigal · 17/05/2018 12:48

It's just not rational that GGs would suddenly just chuck out safeguarding. More is at play, behind the scenes.

This is my feeling too.

There is a whole new program of badges and activities being brought out this summer, completely new, across all sections. The oldest age group (Senior Section) is going back to the old name "Rangers" and the age is changing from 14-25 to 14 -18 (up to 19th birthday).
New forms for parents permission and for notification for events are being introduced (much more paperwork all round).
Interestingly the event notification form now asks for the "gender" - male , female, other...

I don't know what is going on, but something is, and the grass roots members have not been asked and questions are not allowed.

ChattyLion · 17/05/2018 13:41

Does Girl Guiding have an AGM if the regular routes to engage are not being productive?

drspouse · 17/05/2018 14:29

www.girlguiding.org.uk/about-us/our-organisation/how-girlguiding-is-run/the-council/

I am not clear if the AGM is open and, if it is, if anyone could speak.

A recent issue with Scouting and accessibility was only settled after a legal case

and the age is changing from 14-25 to 14 -18 (up to 19th birthday)

So still 'kids' effectively, no 'young women'. Again, interesting, when combined with the other changes.

It may be worth digging around and finding out more about who is at GG HQ.

ScaredPAD · 17/05/2018 22:21

What are the new badges like?

It's all very weird. Completely changing the ethos of guiding.... as I've said before my daughter's are both soon to love up a section and it's tempting to move away ::(

loopsdefruit · 17/05/2018 22:29

There will also be a new offering for young women aged 18-30 (increasing the age of 'senior section' from 25, and allowing the younger members of that section 14-18 to have their own section with its own activities that link from rainbows, brownies, and guides).

loveyouradvice · 17/05/2018 22:39

Really interesting... what is going on???

feels very very bizarre..... can understand Amnesty International going a bit dolally as they've not been well run for a long time... but the Guides? How are they not reflecting on this from every angle before plunging in as they are, betraying so many of their values of inclusivity for girls and young women....especially the most marginalised (and by that I do NOT mean trans, but ethnic minorities and serious disadvantage)

loopsdefruit · 17/05/2018 23:12

This has been the policy for years, it just used to be that it was handled 'case by case' then they made the policy available for all to see on the website.

I don't know exactly how many years ago the policy was put in place (behind the scenes as it were) but I know that for at least 2 years before they wrote it down that's what they were telling people who asked, because I asked and they told me.

This isn't a judgement on how good/bad the policy is (because it's 11pm and I am too tired to argue right now) but just a note that this policy is older than a lot of people seem to think.

Pratchet · 18/05/2018 06:29

Didn't JB and SG work together

therealposieparker · 18/05/2018 06:49

I wouldn't be surprised if some trans activist is placed somewhere high up or is somehow connected to the Guides. It's how it works.....

See PIE manual.

If you want to influence society place members in positions of influence.

OP posts:
merrymouse · 18/05/2018 07:08

I think the Guides should be able to explain why they are a single sex organisation. I’m quite prepared to believe that some boys would rather attend Brownies with their sister/friends than cubs.

However, the current situation seems to be that the Guides aren’t even prepared to explain what a girl is. They will admit boys, but only on the basis that they identify as trans. It’s a mess.

I just noticed that Julie Bentley is leaving Girl guides as Chief executive in the summer for another charity called Action for Children. To be their new chief executive.

ChattyLion · 18/05/2018 07:27

17 April, news item from the Guides.

‘Today we announce that our Chief Executive Julie Bentley will be stepping down after almost six years to take up the role of chief executive at Action for Children.
Over her tenure, Julie has overseen a wide-scale modernisation programme including a major review of governance and organisational structures, developing the charity’s first five-year strategic plan, and modernising the guiding offer to meet the needs of girls today.

Julie drove perception-busting initiatives, ensuring that girls and young womens’ voices are at the heart of the charity and supporting them to be powerful public advocates about issues affecting their lives.
She has been a passionate champion for Girlguiding and the amazing work our 109,000 volunteers do to change girls’ lives and provide fun, adventurous opportunities.

Val Elliott, Interim Chair of Trustees, said:

Julie has made a hugely valuable contribution during her time in post and Girlguiding has moved forward significantly under her leadership. The board of trustees is sorry to see her leave but we are delighted she has been appointed to such a prestigious position at Action for Children and she goes with our very warm thanks and best wishes.

Julie Bentley said:

Girlguiding is such a powerful force for good in the lives of girls and young women in the UK. The dedication of our amazing volunteers and staff teams is extraordinary. I know this much loved organisation will continue to develop and adapt to ensure it stays a relevant, fresh, first-class service for girls and young women into the future. It will always have a dedicated supporter and champion in me.

Julie will be leaving at the end of June and Deputy CEO Ruth Marvel will become acting chief executive until a permanent appointment is made.’
