From petition page (click here to sign)
Nora is a Sudanese 19 year old female who is facing a death sentence because 2 years ago she was forced to marry a man. She refused having sex with him for 5 days so he called his brother & cousins who helped him in raping her. Next day she killed him when he tried sleeping with her again. Nora is being kept in prison since then and the court issued her death sentence about a week ago. She has no social support because her family dumped her and her legal defense was provided by formal legal aid.

Confusingly a second change.org petition as well, please sign both!

It seems that the court has convened again and death sentence has been confirmed. She has 15 days to appeal.

It seems that in Sudanese law marital rape is not illegal Angry

I’m trying to see if there’s an Amnesry IAR for Noura with details for who to contact directly to support her (Sudanese ministers, judges etc) if anyone finds anything more about this please add.

Otherwise please sign the petition and keep bumping the thread, pile global pressure on Sudan, and try and save Noura’s life.

Signed one, but had a bit of trouble signing the other one. Emailed too.

Bump.

So the appeal of the death sentence was submitted today. There are almost a million signatures, but the Sudanese Court refused to accept them.

However, I hear Hollywood royalty and even Julia Gilliard, former Aussie PM, bless her are getting involved. Keep the sigs / emails / letters (?) coming. We can hope the troglodytes cave before killing the poor woman.

She's strong.

I hope you've all seen the good news.

Oh thank goodness for that. 5 years is still an awful sentence but at least she has some kind of future even if she is made to serve all that time.

Thanks for letting us know Cattenberg
