From petition page (click here to sign)
Nora is a Sudanese 19 year old female who is facing a death sentence because 2 years ago she was forced to marry a man. She refused having sex with him for 5 days so he called his brother & cousins who helped him in raping her. Next day she killed him when he tried sleeping with her again. Nora is being kept in prison since then and the court issued her death sentence about a week ago. She has no social support because her family dumped her and her legal defense was provided by formal legal aid.

Confusingly a second change.org petition as well, please sign both!

It seems that the court has convened again and death sentence has been confirmed. She has 15 days to appeal.

It seems that in Sudanese law marital rape is not illegal Angry

I’m trying to see if there’s an Amnesry IAR for Noura with details for who to contact directly to support her (Sudanese ministers, judges etc) if anyone finds anything more about this please add.

Otherwise please sign the petition and keep bumping the thread, pile global pressure on Sudan, and try and save Noura’s life.

Jeesus. This is exactly Amnesty Intl territory.

Unless, of course, women aren't actually humans. Household wetware, I guess.

Signed

www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2018/05/sudan-death-sentence-for-raped-teenager-is-an-intolerable-cruelty/

Handwringing article “in the news” on amnesty website - including quotes from regional directors, they’re clearly aware of her plight - but seem to be saying, well, it’s currently legal under Sudanese law, we oppose the death penalty, but whatchagonnado?

Where’s the call to action, publicising who to write to - government ministers addresses, judges who could overturn the sentence? Where’s the fight for this woman’s life?

Anyway, addressing Amnesty abandoning women is another thread - I’ll find that one you mention.

EqualityNow have published the letter they have sent to the Sudanese president here www.equalitynow.org/sites/default/files/EqualityNow_JusticeForNoura_Letter.pdf

The address is at the top of the letter - ANYONE can write or email and appeal for Noura’s life. I encourage anyone who has 5 minutes to compose an email, if you have 10-15 then write a paper letter and post it, ASAP. Maybe old fashioned, but sacks of letters can make an impact.

UPDATE Amnesty have got off their arses (have been googling each day and only just found this) and have published an email for to appeal to the Sudanese Ministry of Justice, CLICK HERE to send an email, they’ve pre-filled the form but feel free to write your own message/customise it as well.

Even if you’ve already signed both petitions please take this action as well. Thankyou all.

I'm hoping this is all having an impact. I suspect the slimeballs are just hoping to wait until attention shifts elsewhere.

Cwenthryth · 17/05/2018 09:34

Bump for daytime. Please send the emails through the Amnesty link, even if you have already signed petitions. Keep up the pressure.

Done and shared on facebook. I just hope this gets more attention so there is a deluge of emails and perhaps some hope for this poor woman.

DickTERFin · 19/05/2018 13:15

Signed, shared and email sent.

Perhaps start a new thread with the email link as those who were at the beginning of the thread, may not have checked back but would be interested in sending the email.

Peaceloving · 19/05/2018 13:37

Signed. This is how they have made women into subservient companions. If it was dogs, they will out breed the subversive genes away.

niceberg · 19/05/2018 20:01

Email sent. Thanks for links.
