Dittany - where is she now?

Just reading a reference to dittany on another thread & was struck by the feeling that in the current climate she's sorely missed (by me, maybe others too). Did anyone know her IRL? I often wonder where she went, what she's doing now with her feminism. I'd love her to make a triumphant return!

I only lurked back in 'her day' and found her posts challenging (in a good way - made me stop & think & question my own in built ideas, prejudices, and a lifetime of female socialisation - I was a crap feminist, of the 'it's all been done, I don't have anything left to do but enjoy the freedoms already fought for) type. I'm still a million miles behind others but I'm trying to do betterSmile

So Wine to you dittany, wherever you are now & thanks for jolting me out of my ignorant feminist slumber Flowers

Sorry, katherina. I never meant to be condescending, but I definitely know that the person I was when I was 25 and first posting here is quite different from me at 33, and I'd like to think I'm a bit less of a dickhead.

elephants, I just remember you were (I think) the first person ever to send me a message and I thought you were so nice. And I would never have left my ex-H (for the lesbianism, minus the feminist communes) without anyfucker. MN is a really lovely community.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/05/2018 22:39

lass, be fair.

You mean, she occasionally disagreed with you, and sometimes you didn't like that.

OrchidInTheSun · 10/05/2018 22:42

I remember you too Elephants 🙂

thebewilderness · 10/05/2018 22:45

4 pages of lovely fawning and now here is Lass to piss on the thread. Always reliable.

IrenetheQuaint · 10/05/2018 22:49

Does anyone remember the epic argument between dittany and LRD about a (quite batshit) feminist historical documentary about witches on YouTube? LRD politely suggested the documentary wasn't 100% factually accurate while dittany argued that didn't matter because it was defending persecuted women. Went on for hundreds of posts.

CarysMa · 10/05/2018 22:50

Scottishmummy was no feminist icon. She was just mean.

Greymisty · 10/05/2018 22:53

Lass I have seen you about and notice you piss on the threads too. Delicately put you have interesting logic. But fuck it you keep us fresh.

AntiGrinch · 10/05/2018 22:53

Dittany was the first person to tell me how awful a relationship I was in.
I was posting in a hopeless way about it without any intention of leaving it, just thinking that the feminists on here would see my POV and needing some sympathy. She saw how awful it was and also pointed out something like: you do realise that feminism is not about being a support group for people in bad relationships? :) what so you think I should DO something about this then? :)

I want to know the sentence too, @therealposieparker. If you can share.

AnyFucker · 10/05/2018 22:54

Lass, quite simply I have never seen you be nice to anybody

Try it some time. It won't kill you.

KatherinaMinola · 10/05/2018 22:55

I wouldn't have mentioned you if I'd known you were still here, LRD.

AntiGrinch · 10/05/2018 22:55

the naming of boards, and all the whinging about "mean feminists", and all the hassle around that was utterly INSANE. MN has come on so much. the way they see all this as having a point was unthinkable back then - there was a sort of knee jerk establishment assumption that "radical feminists" were probably "extreme" and "trouble makers"; and the way they are standing up for free speech these days is a completely different modus operandi.

AnyFucker · 10/05/2018 22:56

Is that meant to be better, KM ?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/05/2018 22:57

I don't mind. It's a fair cop, and I'm not terribly active on here, so why should you know?

IrenetheQuaint · 10/05/2018 22:58

Oh God yes! Thread after thread of posters moaning that the feminist board was too harsh and/or too intellectual.

Mamaryllis · 10/05/2018 22:59

I had a shitload of arguments with Dittany over trans. I think she was targeted in rl by MRAs, which is why she left - I don’t think it was real mn posters. Just trolling vicious vindictive MRAs. Not TRAs. It was pretty messy with FWR off the beaten track for posters safety. Lots of doxxing which was just called outing then. Horrific.

thebewilderness · 10/05/2018 22:59

Much as I adorable Dittany/Delphyne I confess I do not like it that you talk about her when she is not here.
Just me being defensive, I suppose. Carry on.

MrsWooster · 10/05/2018 23:00

I don't think I have ever seen you write a two line post before AF! Positively verbose tonight.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/05/2018 23:00

irene, I do remember that. But you know what I didn't know?

There was a real, professor-level historian of witchcraft on the thread, who posted a couple of times, rather politely, to suggest said batshit documentary was batshit.

She's an actual expert, and how she didn't out herself, I do not understand. She must have been pissing herself at all of us.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 10/05/2018 23:00

I am proud to count Buffy and LRD as friends. CaptainChaos too.

Lass - your recollection of Buffy does not match mine. At. All.

KatherinaMinola · 10/05/2018 23:03

Well I suppose it's like talking about the dead/gone/moved away, AF. Musing on people you used to know once.

DrMantisToboggan · 10/05/2018 23:03

I loved Buffy’s posts, and always found her kind, patient and interesting.

IrenetheQuaint · 10/05/2018 23:03

LRD Grin

I've learnt the hard way never to underestimate MN posters. There are experts on all sorts of things lurking all over the place.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/05/2018 23:03

I wasnt around back then

( though i wish i was...it all sounds very dramatic!!)

But i do like sitting there looking at some threads and thinking

'Oooh thebewilderness will be along with the rules'

'Right datun will sort them out!!'

And

' any minute....any minute.....any minute...lass!!!!'

Im honestly disappointed when people dont turn up when i expect them to
