I'm not aggressive but quite grumpy.

Are wee wimmin not allowed to be aggressive these days?

they · 03/05/2018 17:43

Shon Faye is SO dull. Total one trick pony. Have you seen the stand-up clip on shon's twitter? It's totally cringe.

This reminds me of the whole vagina fraud who-ha #irony. Someone who thought they were bigger than @MNHQ and MNers, tried to threaten and close down the board. It didn't work out well for them either.

I've namechanged, obvs. I don't want SF doxxing like daxleo

AsAProfessionalFekko · 03/05/2018 17:44

www.processions.co.uk/ everyone see this (whilst I remember)?

DarthArts · 03/05/2018 17:52

It would be very unfortunate if people started spamming the account that someone locked themselves out of.

JustABrokenDoll · 03/05/2018 18:08

Is the person running that 'MumsnetTransphobia' bullshit account the same Helen from Mermaids? The one who was blocked by Boy George?

Women are always called aggressive when they stick to their own opinions even when men disagree. Thou shalt people please, especially man please or you are a horrrible aggressive woman.

Quite funny SF dismissing women for being aggressive when SF is so aggressive herself. Maybe she's not womaning right either.

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 03/05/2018 18:11

I saw this TED talk earlier. It isn't about trans or feminism but it seemed appropriate for this thread. Why it's worth listening to people you disagree with (Zachary R. Wood | TED2018)

FermatsTheorem · 03/05/2018 18:13

What's happened to the thread about the "why doesn't feminism include men?" article a certain S. Faye wrote in a previous life we're not allowed to talk about? I can't seem to find it. It was very, very funny.

Apparently it was 'goady'. In other 'news we have always been at war with Eastasia'.

IdentifiesAsMiddleAged · 03/05/2018 18:15

I know. It was very enlightening.

FermatsTheorem · 03/05/2018 18:19

If someone could post a link to Faye's article linked to in the deleted thread (I assume this isn't a problem: it was in a national newspaper, is in the public domain and was actually written by Faye) I'd be grateful. Thanks.

I think I love Lisa Muggeridge.

Yes.

FermatsTheorem · 03/05/2018 18:24

Found it!

Interesting to contrast Faye's comments on Faye's schooldays in the article above with the position Faye currently espouses:

www.dazeddigital.com/artsandculture/article/26572/1/i-have-never-been-and-never-will-be-a-man

"We have always been at war with Eastasia" indeed.

FermatsTheorem · 03/05/2018 18:25

Ah, cross post with all of you who are more efficient with google than I am!

OlennasWimple · 03/05/2018 18:26

that Huff Post article is glorious

NotTerfNorCis · 03/05/2018 18:27

2011 - A man who doesn't understand women.

2014 - A man who likes wearing makeup.

2017 - Definitely a woman, was never anything else.

Okaaaaaay then Confused

Springnowplease · 03/05/2018 18:27

So many faces for one person. I wonder if SF is unwell.

Amalfimamma · 03/05/2018 18:55

@JustABrokenDoll blocked by boy George? Oh please fill me in as this is the thread that just keeps on giving

JustABrokenDoll · 03/05/2018 19:09

@Amalfimamma Not sure how/why it happened I'm afraid Sad will dig around a bit and see if I can find out why. It was late 2017 I think.

Amalfimamma · 03/05/2018 19:15

@JustABrokenDoll ohhhhhh advanced search needed me thinks

Lemonjello · 03/05/2018 19:16

I think about the recent brave visibility of trans people publicly in the media, in fashion and on social media. About my own writing on LGBT issues and the contacts it has forged with other trans and genderqueer people. I consider whether it is my own middle class, privileged affectation to call upon their spaces, their identities and "appropriate" them as my own.

If only Shon could apply this same level of thoughtfulness and self reflection to Shon’s appropriation of womanhood. I wonder why that hasn’t happened.

And controversially, I think Shon’s articles are fine. I think there’s some nice writing and sentiments in them.

Scabbersley · 03/05/2018 19:18

I think the articles are quite good. Shon is a good writer. It's sad this has happened really.
