Respect is good... I think it means different things to different people though.

Respect needs to be earned.

I don't respect people who insult others (colleague? Competitor?) using that sort of language. I don't respect bullies.

I'm sure that the fact that Hadley Freeman's career is going better than Shon's has nothing to do with that petulant little outburst, right?

Dinosaurchicken · 03/05/2018 13:44

I am a biological female also known as a woman.

If you wish you were a biological female but are a biological male (also known as a man) and choose to adopt the dress and mannerisms of some biological females that does not make you one. I’m happy to stand up for you as a human being but I will not be ignoring biology.

If you are male you never will be a female regardless of how you dress or identify any more than a dog can be a cat.

AbsintheFriends · 03/05/2018 13:45

"If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better."

Just leaving that there for Shon to ponder on.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 03/05/2018 13:51

I reckon it's that mimmy fucker who is doing that account. V similar Style, plus our Helen has been unusually quiet on her main account

Figures. Totally on her agenda to see Mumsnet shut down or controlled by TRAs

SunsetBeetch · 03/05/2018 13:52

Shon has "defined" woman. Nailed it!

I'll remember that definition the next time blood comes dripping out of my fanny

Ah Ffs

Also, this was mentioned some pages back, but Shon did axtually encourage young people to be "slutty".

if 'woman is a loose, shifting constellation of biological, political and cultural phenomena which varies according to context, place and time' then so must 'man'.
In the context of FWR discussions on Mumsnet at a time when women are fighting for their sex-based rights then this isn't pertinent?

R0wantrees · 03/05/2018 13:59

NB I don't have a law degree but do have one in English Language & Literature.

AbsintheFriends · 03/05/2018 14:00

Not sure that anyone in the Oxford English Dictionary office will be reaching for a pen to scribble that load of meaningless twaddle definition down.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 03/05/2018 14:02

Hey Helen @TellTalesTwitter

There is not 'real' about it. Transwomen are not women AT ALL. They are biological males. And Sex is immutable. Post that on your pee the bed twitter account

Collidascope · 03/05/2018 14:05

I'd personally like a TRA Venn diagram for women and men. It's all very well coming out with bull like that as a definition for 'woman' but what is it that makes Shon definitely a woman and not a man?

ScarletBegonias · 03/05/2018 14:05

Real women know how to spell "apparently".

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 03/05/2018 14:08

Isn't that banner from the mermaids action man to pinkdolly binary range bollocks?

From the MN Transphobia account: "Our team have been monitoring Mumsnet forums closely today and It seems they have stepped up their moderation and are taking this seriously."

Translation: "We have not been able to find any real transphobia on MN, because there isn't any."

ErrolTheDragon · 03/05/2018 14:12

'woman is a loose, shifting constellation of biological, political and cultural phenomena which varies according to context, place and time'

I don't respect meaningless nonsense either.

OED 'An adult human female.'

Where 'female' is 'Of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes'

Perfectly clear and unambiguous. It's extremely disrespectful to try to redefine (or undefine) the word pertaining to a particular class of humans without their consent.

BeyondParody · 03/05/2018 14:22

Threads moved on a bit, but my pronoun is 'one'.

This may be a problem for some people to use though, once translated into German... (man liebt kaffee)

Truscum · 03/05/2018 14:25

I like the idea of testing what is and isn’t allowed now (seeing as we still haven’t had a definite response from MNHQ.

Are dictionary definitions ok?

Woman = adult human female.

Penis = The male genital organ of higher vertebrates, carrying the duct for the transfer of sperm during copulation. In humans and most other mammals it consists largely of erectile tissue and is used also for urination.

Vagina - The muscular tube leading from the external genitals to the cervix of the uterus in women and most female mammals.

People who I don’t like, that are in the public eye, and I personally think are fucking idiots in no particular order; Shon Faye, Donald Trump, Katie Hopkins, Lily Madigan, Heather Peto, Tom Cruise, Owen Jones.

(Insert sarcastic tone for this next word.)

‘Bless’.

Tru I like it Grin.

But for scientific purposes you may need to separate those into individual posts, and post a "control" comment next to it, viz:

I think Tom Cruise is a Pillock who should never have got his hands on the wonderful character of Jack Reacher

vs

Tom Cruise is a well-known actor who plays the wonder character Jack Reacher

(Actually a third category might be interesting - comments about knowledge which is in the public domain because the person named has put it there, but they're a bit antsy about having discussed)

Tom Cruise is a prominent scientologist.

WanderinWomb · 03/05/2018 14:31

Tru I like your style but if you get deleted we won't know which one was the naughty one.

Sweet of you to try though. Bless. x
