MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

Also I hate to say I told you so re TGLWGH, but it was pretty obvious there that some at HQ were delighted with it precisely because it involved women policing themselves and approaching this issue from an apologetic, oh if you wouldn't mind awfully if we spoke just a little, if it's not too much trouble, we promise to immediately clamp down on any women who seems like she might be getting a bit uppity perspective. Which whatever else it may be most certainly isn't feminist.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:52

You can't make people respect you

and I think this is at the heart of a lot of the anger from the trans community. as someone said upthread, things like the cotton ceiling show the difficulty trans people can face finding sexual partners, and is just one example of the fact that while people try to be accepting and understanding, they also generally don't believe that trans individuals have changed sex.

You've tried to change your reality and most people aren't buying it. I can see how that might make people angry. it's a good reason to be very honest with people considering transition.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 30/04/2018 22:52

Everyone must stay!!!

Get angry. Get deleted.

Make them follow this thought control through if that's what's needed.
The deletions themselves are speaking volumes about what is happening.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 30/04/2018 22:52

Iwill

You are looking for insults.

Sex is immutable. There is no insult for you or your child in stating that fact. I wish you both every happiness. But no amount of bullying will compel me to tell lies to facilitate your beliefs. You are entitled to have them, but you are not entitled to make me believe them

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 22:53

Those who have had total surgery, no longer have one? Can you not see that saying they're still a bloke is transphobic?

Nah, nah, no you don't!

We know where this one leads to the 'only a true transwoman' fallacy, and the 'ergh yuk! so are you going to check everyone's genitals now?' fallacy..

CoteDAzur · 30/04/2018 22:53

"The sentance was finished off by saying “your dd will never be a woman”

Dictionaries say one has to be female to be a woman. And they also say that Female means Of the sex that can bear young or make eggs.

Draw your own conclusions, since you can't stand others voicing them.

Truscum · 30/04/2018 22:54

I thought WTGLWGH would eventually be used to silence women again. It’s a noble idea but when you are up against this amount of hatred, bile and rage, it’s never going to work.

We’ve already seen what damage being ’polite’ has caused. I’m not suggesting we start abusing everyone at will, but why the hell shouldn’t you be allowed to speak verifiable, biological truth, just because it may hurt someone’s feelings?

Fuck that.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:54

That sentence alone could be seen by many people as openly transphobic. Could it not?

Only the hard of thinking ones. I have no animosity towards this subset of the male class as a whole. But I do not and will not believe they are women. It's as simple as that.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:54

Poula: the law actually enshrines the fact that it's people pretending to be the oppisite sex. It doesn't say they are the opposite sex. It gives them the right to be treated under the law as if they were the opposite sex. It gives legal standing to the pretence. That's all it does.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:55

You're the wrong kind of trans person, Tru.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 22:55

why the hell shouldn’t you be allowed to speak verifiable, biological truth, just because it may hurt someone’s feelings?

Exactly - butch the fuck up fragile wimps. Some people have actual problems to deal with.

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 22:56

Supermatch might be interested to learn that several of their posts have been deleted. Do you stand by your approval of deletions?

Yes. 100%.

The sentance was finished off by saying “your dd will never be a woman”

A direct attack on my daughter.

That is not an attack, that is a person telling you that they don't share your belief system. Like if I said that I don't believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us all from hell. People are allowed to not believe the things that you believe, and trying to force them to pretend that they do believe what you do is Orwellian.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:58

Cote don't ever shut up.

You demonstrated to me (then a lurker) why some studies, showing TW to have traits ascribed female, actually do not and can not demonstrate the existence of gender identity, and in fact show the opposite.

Don't ever stop please Cote.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:59

It's abusive to accuse someone of attacking a child when they plainly didn't.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 23:00

As that's what some were saying earlier. That kind of stuff is going to get deleted.

I said nothing of the sort, if that's aimed at me. Nor did anyone else mention "sex reassignment" surgery, because it's not a meaningful category in the U.K.. You don't require surgery to get a GRC or to "transition" whatever that's supposed to mean. Nor do I agree, if I had, that it's transphobic. You know nothing about this issue do you?

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 23:00

If this really does turn to shit, we can set up our own forum.

Yes Refuse, then you can truly rule the echo chamber of your dreams!

SophoclesTheFox · 30/04/2018 23:00

I was in an abusive relationship where I went in circles for years thinking if only I could find the right way to talk to him, to put my point of view across nicely, so he didn't get upset, if only I wasn't so selfish with my needs that made him feel so bad that he had no choice but to yell and scream and threaten suicide.

Some of the tactics on show here today are awfully familiar to me.

And to many other similarly uppity women who are no strangers to how conversations can be controlled by those who wish us to stay silent on our needs, because they're too much.

On a feminist board, though. That really is too much.

OlennasWimple · 30/04/2018 23:00

But IWill your child will never be a woman. They may decide to undergo various medical and / or surgical procedures to feminise their body, they may decide to apply for a GRC to give legal status as a female in most (but not all) circumstances. But that would make them a transwoman, not a woman. And what is wrong with that?

I sincerely hope that they are getting a lot of support from their family and friends, and live a long and fulfilling life. But you are really really doing them no favours to pretend that they are a woman, any more than you would agree that an anorexic were obese or support someone who found self-harm to be an effective coping strategy.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 23:00

Therefore fck TGLWGH*

That's fucking goady putting a fucking asterisk in my fucks.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 23:00

Some posters are allowed to lie

Some posters are not allowed to tell the truth

Its weird

(Down to the reporting I suppose)

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 23:00

Poula: inevitably. They aren't women. Some genuinely believe they are women, but if there's a choice of pretence and delusion, I consider pretence to be less offensive.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 23:01

Ha! I love the fact that you can't being yourself to type fuck SupermatchGame. Go on leave out the star, type the whole word. it's most liberating.
