I couldn't see how to comment on it. If I had, I'd have thanked her for this.

Good grief.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 29/04/2018 16:25

Oh dear, that LukeNTyers fella is bonkers.

NotTerfNorCis · 29/04/2018 16:46

Her Twitter account is linked from Google but when you go there it says 'user not found '. :(

Ekphrasis · 29/04/2018 16:54

Lol certain!

I've felt like I've had v low bp today; I certainly felt better after a bit more perusal on twitter.

Even had a rant.

Ekphrasis · 29/04/2018 16:55

I'm sorry Catherine is receiving such treatment, but we completely salute you if you're reading. ThanksCakeGin

The Libdem LGBT+ twitter account is making me furious. I really feel conflicted and I don’t know what to do about it.

I’m a Libdem member. They’re about to lose my vote over this bloody twitter feed. Twice, I’ve composed a tweet in response to them. I want them to know they’re going to lose my vote. But doing that risks sticking my head over the parapet. I’ve got a family and it makes me vulnerable. I feel bullied into silence. I’m really fucking annoyed.

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 11:15

weekfour, if you do include Brian Paddick, Sal Brinton and Jo Swinson on it.

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 11:19

FWIW I think you will probably get a fair amount of support from such a tweet. And maybe less negativity than you fear.

Wanderabout · 30/04/2018 11:26

Agree with both of RedToothBrush's points above.

R0wantrees · 30/04/2018 11:29

@weekfour There may be more to gain by tweeting your view to other libdem accounts and reference the LGBT+ one?

Popchyk · 30/04/2018 11:32

Can't you just send a written letter to Lib Dem HQ?

I'm not sure about tweeting the account itself. Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig enjoys it.

You could compose a printed letter with screenshots of a couple of the more unhinged stuff and ask them to look into it. Be very factual and cool. Escalate into an official complaint if they try to fob you off.

You won't be the only Lib Dem member to be thinking this way. That account is reflecting very poorly on the Lib Dems.

weekfour · 30/04/2018 11:32

Well that’s what I was considering @R0wantrees . Everything just gets so twisted! I’m wondering whether actually speaking to the party locally would better serve the cause. I doubt self ID or even LGBT issues are regularly discussed in our local office.

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 11:34

Yes or write to Brian Paddick, Sal Brinton or Jo Swinson directly.

Wanderabout · 30/04/2018 11:40

Good idea Rowantrees. Also including the people RedToothBrush mentions.

Brian Paddick listening to all sides was a real positive for me. It would be good if the party's online LGBT presence was run by someone who could represent the concerns of many in the lesbian community. Even just listening to them instead of insulting them would be a step up from now.

Popchyk · 30/04/2018 11:41

The fact that Brian Paddick chose to resign from the LGBT Executive recently should have prompted the LD leadership to look into the reasons surrounding why that was.

This would be a good time to bring up the account while all that is still fresh in their minds.

That account just escalates in vitriol every day.

And the local elections are on Thursday.

Wanderabout · 30/04/2018 11:41

Speak and/or write sounds good too.

nauticant · 30/04/2018 11:43

There's been a telling response to this article on twitter. It is loathed by many trans allies who are unable to see anything more in it than "trans=incel". Any suggestion that people read what Bennett actually wrote, that they think for a moment about the San Francisco Public Library exhibition is either sidestepped or triggers an angry response.

From the critics I see very little beyond anger and irrationality. So much anger.

weekfour · 30/04/2018 11:44

Why just those specifically @RedToothBrush ?

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 11:54

Brian is aware of the subject. Jo is deputy leader. Sal is president.

It has to go to the top. I am not sure who else would be able to action much / have awareness of the subject.

If you can think of anyone else try them. They strike me as the ones with sufficient authority.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:01

What Wanderabout said. They're losing control of the narrative and they don't like it. There's a lot more narcissistic rage to come as the unraveling continues, but the TRA narrative always depended on making sure that nobody asked any questions. The moment people start doing that, and other people see it happening and start asking their own questions too, it's all over.

Brace yourselves though, because if you've never seen Cluster B rage before it's quite something.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 30/04/2018 12:02

This video was in my Facebook feed, its interesting to watch the three protesters, who are walking cliches in many respects.

The stand out for me is the tiny number of people with such an irrational intolerance of biology.

It's not going to be pretty. But it will be revealing.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 12:32

A totally reasonable response with no narcissistic rage at women whatsoever:

guardiann^ — terfs DO NOT represent all women in the world, terfs are only cvnt-shaped ar$eholes, therefore to hate terfs cannot be misogyny. Stop sponsoring dishonesty.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:33

Well, I did once see a woman wearing a costume shaped like a giant vulva at Pride?

(The narcissistic rage begins)

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 30/04/2018 12:41

Haha

That's quite a creative insult Ereshkigal, do you think its a Freudian slip?.
