?!?!?!?

www.overcomingbias.com/2018/04/two-types-of-envy.html

Quote from article:

"One might plausibly argue that those with much less access to sex suffer to a similar degree as those with low income, and might similarly hope to gain from organizing around this identity, to lobby for redistribution along this axis and to at least implicitly threaten violence if their demands are not met. As with income inequality, most folks concerned about sex inequality might explicitly reject violence as a method, at least for now, and yet still be encouraged privately when the possibility of violence helps move others to support their policies. (Sex could be directly redistributed, or cash might be redistributed in compensation.)"

What the absolute FUCK is this?

Also is it true that Amnesty argues that people have a 'right' to sex?

Because if so, surely the above argument is basically the logical conclusion?

And in which case I am cancelling my long held monthly donation.

Time he got a proper job... seriously, how do academics like this get funding?

Pratchet · 28/04/2018 22:06

Cancelled to amnesty looong ago. Amnesty was infiltrated years back and women are the lowest of its priorities.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/04/2018 22:11

I used to be an academic.
Being extremely bright is not a must, believe me.

bd67th · 28/04/2018 22:11

@rocketpocket Because these men are so creepy and risk-exuding that even hookers will turn them down if they have any choice at all in the matter.

thebewilderness · 28/04/2018 22:15

Once Amnesty added a pimp to their board the writing was on the wall for all women to see.

FermatsTheorem · 28/04/2018 22:16

Oh, I know that Bowl (I too used to be an academic) - but there are some very, very bright people in academia. Some of them are very, very bright and are also quite clued up, compassionate people, others are very, very bright and utterly lacking in common sense and were clearly elsewhere entirely when the moral compasses were handed out. And there are also, as you point out, some (many) people who are not at all bright, but are very effective at intellectual charlatanry and arse-licking.

But I have come across some real odd-balls in my time. At the moment, I have, for instance, a colleague who is a brilliant mathematician and who is also a young earth creationist. Confused

OlennasWimple · 28/04/2018 22:27

No. No one might not plausibly argue any such thing Hmm

bd67th · 28/04/2018 22:44

That this bellend even thinks that the problem is that some men don't get laid shows his lack of critical analysis. Plenty of women live without sex and don't kill.. It's incel ideology, not shortage of sex that is the problem.

A man who can't get laid, joins an incel forum and goes on a murderous rampage. A woman who can't get laid, joins a gym and goes on a diet.

thebewilderness · 28/04/2018 23:00

The aggrieved entitlement of the white male has different names depending on who and how they kill.

changeypants · 29/04/2018 06:22

Can none of them wank?

RedToothBrush · 29/04/2018 06:39

There needs to be a big neon sign with klaxon which says:

Its not about sex. Its about power.

dorothyparka · 29/04/2018 07:40

'sex inequality'
So language long used to describe the discrimination women experience because of biology is appropriated by a group of disgruntled men. Yet another example of how women are losing the language to describe our oppression. Of course this is about power!

rocketpocket · 29/04/2018 07:48

UpstartCrow thanks for that, my eyes are bleeding - but the gist of it seems to be that they couldn't possibly use a prostitute because what they want is someone pure and virginal who wants to have sex with them because sex is what the incel "deserves".

Odd then that they'd accept what would essentially be women-slaves who are handed out who also don't want to shag them.

The whole thing is very contradictory and seemingly not really about actually getting laid at all! It's just good old fashioned misogyny by another name.

tortelliniforever · 29/04/2018 07:57

others are very, very bright and utterly lacking in common sense My dh is a well-respected professor. He also use to pay someone to change his lightbulbs. Confused

Anyway, it seems that basically this is the concept of "comfort women" under another name. Women are expendable for the greater good.

Can none of them wank? Grin

RedToothBrush · 29/04/2018 07:58

Its a long desperate whine of a toddler not getting their own way.

QuentinSummers · 29/04/2018 08:10

Sex is not a commodity.
Fucks sake.
What has happened to critical thought? I'm fed up of people starting from a false premise then claiming that because logically you can get from there to somewhere else bonkers (redistribution of sex/womanhood as an essence as two examples) they must be right.

Pomo has a lot to answer for.

MargeH · 29/04/2018 08:42

Not too dissimilar a concept to the ISIS fighter being rewarded with a Yahidi sex slave or the Boko Haram member being given a kidnapped schoolgirl, is it?

LassWiADelicateAir · 29/04/2018 08:51

Can none of them wank?

I was going to post this on the current prostitution thread. Sod all this finding pretty names for prostitution or the "let's reclaim the word cunt" threads which crop up with (tedious) regularity

What we should reclaim is the word "wanker". Wanking is free, easy, it's good for you, you can do it as often as you want and as long as any stimulus is your own imagination it harms no-one. Imaginative wanking is the ethical choice.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 29/04/2018 09:32

Marge and Lass
I was coming on to posts both your points re. the Yazidi girls and the merits of having a wank.

But then men have been sexually assualting girls and women since forever and getting away with it

Grim reading for a Sunday morning. That Catherine Bennnett article was good though

DairyisClosed · 29/04/2018 09:35

Bloody commies! But seriously what is up with people thinking that they have a right to other people 's stuff (and bodies!). If this were to actually Halen it wouldn't be sex they were having. It would be rape.

TheKimJongUnofFeminism · 29/04/2018 09:37

Is Robin Hanson the guy who thinks that being cuckolded is worse than “gentle rape”?

TheKimJongUnofFeminism · 29/04/2018 09:38

As usual, Lass nails it.

ShamelessEjeculate · 29/04/2018 10:39

Coming at this from another direction, as a women who has now been basically single since 2012, with pretty much every person I have hooked up with (more men than women, but some women in the mix) having only been after sex, I say where is the being loved that I am entitled to.
Of course I don't really think I am owed being loved by people, but maybe a movement along those lines for women, in the same manner as 'man friday' would help bring attention to how utterly ridiculous there demands are. Or maybe I am rambling, but this has made me really angry.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/04/2018 14:46

Amazing how they dehumanise it by removing any reference to the person they will in fact be raping. They tie themselves in knots to say sex not woman.

Sex is being redistributed - no, what you mean is you’re given a woman to rape.

I often think that the best, quickest way to world peace would be to have every bloke in the world wake up tomorrow and find that actually, they’re a woman in the society they live in. I reckon six weeks of that you’d have some kind of global minset shift.

QuentinSummers · 29/04/2018 15:04

Babel you must watch "not an easy man". Thread about it on here. It is exactly that.
