I have held back from even discussing it for months as I have a very diverse bunch of mum friends (inner London primary school) and was nervous about 'coming out'.

Anyway, tonight one of the mums started talking about austerity and the need to vote Labour in the coming local elections. I have left Labour over Self ID and just thought 'fuck it' and told them all on our whatsapp group that I wasn't voting Labour (in fact sadly, am spoiling my vote ) and why. Braced myself for a shit storm....

Nothing of the sort!

They all think its horrendous, have signed the petition and are considering their Labour vote. These are mostly a) Corbynistas or b) not very politicised but definitely Lab voters. Only one is a Tory voter and she is shocked, too.

There ya go...another 15 women get angry about this shit! Better than nothing...

I think we have to just chat to people and talk through why we see these TRA people as violently hostile to women!! Word of mouth is stronger than anything social media has to offer!! Just keep talking!!!!

Laurel Hubbard peaktransed DH and DS though. And just in time too; I was actually reassessing my relationship in the light of DH's apparent newfound misogyny. I think DH and DS originally thought I was overreacting about things that would never happen, because men wouldn't try to gain unfair advantage from identifying as women would they? Thanks Laurel.

I’m terrified of the aggression and Orwellian double think that some activists for trans people are employing. I’m scared for myself and my daughter.

Is it my imagination or is the petition gaining traction? There does seem to be an increase in the amount of signers the last couple of days. I wonder if IW helped with her latest piece?

not really it has been really slow the last couple of days. Ther ewas an increase at the weekend, but back to really really slow.

Convincing 15 people using Whatsapp to add their name to a petition is no mean feat. How did you do it? What arguments did you present given the limits of the media you used?

That's great. I am struggling with my friends, Lots of gay men, who don't seem the slightest bit interested in supporting women's rights. It does make me think very hard indeed why I have been so supportive over gay rights.

The self Id trans movement is one of the most destructive movements I have seen in years.

I've only spoken about this to one woman at the school gate. She's quietly very, very skeptical of the claims of the trans lobby. I didn't peak her, she was just frightened to speak until she realised I wasn't going to shout her down as a transphobe. I think there are probably lots of people like her out there.
