Labour Party Mass Resignation Letter

Mayday for Women are arranging a mass resignation letter. Quote

  • After this letter it is clearly not tenable to remain. We’re therefore finalising a collective resignation NOW. If want to resign over Self-ID dont do it alone - join other women! We’ll be sending letters of names into newspapers. Email name + CLP to [email protected]

We’ve so far gathered 300+ signatures of women who wish to resign if Lab formally agreed Self-ID for AWS. That’s now happened through this letter.
Women are so angry about this many wanted to leave months ago. We’d discussed a Women’s strike for May elections. #LabourLosingWomen *

I've added my name to this letter. I've never done anything like this - eeek!

Ah ok that's good to know. Obviously the Labour Party will know though as we've resigned Smile

It's a good letter. V clear

Bejazzled · 01/05/2018 17:30

Well done those brave women.

Jux · 01/05/2018 17:39

If I were a member any more, I'd resign now too, but as I'm not I can't.

Not voting for them though, always did before. 30+ years. Will probably spoil my paper now.

Thanks to the organisers for doing this and getting the letter in the Times Thanks

I also signed it although my name didn't appear in print (only about ten did, mostly those holding some sort of office, CLP women's officer, etc).

I emailed my branch secretary, CLP Secretary and copied in my MP to my personal resignation letter. Not even an acknowledgement. They truly do not give a shit. It's local elections here on Thursday and I will spoil my ballot. It's striking how many women in my CLP do a lot of the grunt work in the run up to elections and how quickly they are jumped on by self serving, arrogant men who really think they know better. Well, they have one less woman to run around for them now and tell them how great they are.

If anyone knows a party that recognises women's rights, has a plan to manage the potential conflicts between trans women's and women's needs, isn't steeped in anti semitism and has a coherent strategy for Brexit, then I'm all ears Smile

Me too, Agnes, me too.

Well done all. Not a member so can't resign but have happily been chasing Labour reps down the street to tell them what I think.
