The first person who calls my breasts mammary glands, or refers to me as a person with a labia will be told where the fuck to fuck off to

Pratchet · 17/04/2018 07:52

Lol bottled
Hopp I think they haven't properly considered they will be dealing with women in labour Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/04/2018 08:04

Woman in labour to start with.

Is that even an option?

LaurG · 17/04/2018 08:12

Really can’t say that I would be offended by my breasts being called breasts! If a doctor has a trans patient then finecuse gender neutral terms but don’t bog the rest of us down in this nonsense. A vast majority of people who give birth are women who are more than happy to be called women with all the relevant female parts. Don’t steal away our identity.

PollyBanana · 17/04/2018 08:21

I was going to say that men can get breast cancer too but I see that "breast cancer" itself is a disputed term

Jaxtellerswife · 17/04/2018 08:29

I will be referring to my 'vaginal chamber' from now on. It just sounds grander Grin

PavlovaPrincess · 17/04/2018 08:30

That survey is fucking outrageous. Why are they changing the terminology for a tiny minority of people?

Also they're biologically women doing the most female thing that they can do (i.e get pregnant and give birth) but it's apparently beyond the pale to refer to their genitalia using the correct terms.

The world has gone fucking mad.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/04/2018 08:35

I can't wrap my head around this.

Surely a medical term is a medical term and is the one that correctly describes a body part.

How come we can choose them?

'tis bonkers.

Spam88 · 17/04/2018 08:35

Do you think vaginal chambers are echoey?

Seems common sense that if you've got a pregnant female-to-male transgender patient then you don't go calling him a woman. To deny that he's got a uterus and vagina though, when there's a baby currently residing in one and about to be pushed out the other, is ridiculous though, as is not calling all other pregnant women women.

Rainatnight · 17/04/2018 08:35

Where is this from? Who did it?

pastabest · 17/04/2018 08:45

Why is there nothing on there to say who is collecting the information on the survey?

olderthanyouthink · 17/04/2018 08:48

Who the F is behind this?

0to3sadonions · 17/04/2018 08:51

Is this a joke? If anyone refers to me as a ‘birthing person’ I’ll shit on their head

Hypermice · 17/04/2018 08:55

Breasts is gender neutral anyway Confused men get breast cancer, men have breast tissue. There is no need for any of this ‘chest’ nonsense. The chest is a different structure to the breast anyway ...
If you’re pregnant, you’re a woman. Use the correct, objective female terminology like a bloody professional.

Who is doing this survey please?

NoParticularPattern · 17/04/2018 08:57

It’s beyond me why any medical professional would want to refer to parts of the anatomy as anything but their proper anatomical term?!

That said I think we should start a portion to begin the use of “vaginal chamber” as an anatomical term.....

NoParticularPattern · 17/04/2018 08:58

Petition*

AsAProfessionalFekko · 17/04/2018 09:00

I'm going to hospital for a 'wimmins thing' and the letter states that the staff will be female.

Dare I ask...😉?

SuburbanRhonda · 17/04/2018 09:02

We are already very clear with students and residents that in the clinic setting patients and clients should be asked their preferred anatomy terms, and that their request should be honored in every circumstance.

Can you imagine how meaningless medical research will become once everyone has their own term for their body parts? It’ll be like trying to collect data from 2-year-olds.

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 17/04/2018 09:05

Fake survey?

It has nothing on it whatsoever to identify the institution, which is highly suspicious.

ALittleAubergine · 17/04/2018 09:07

I don't care what I'm being called as long as I get good care and they get the baby out of me with minimal damage or trauma to anyone.

InterpreterNotMandarin · 17/04/2018 09:07

Medical interpreter here.

Hope this isn’t happening. It will make my work a nightmare.

SuburbanRhonda · 17/04/2018 09:12

rabbit

I think you may be right - the OP hasn’t said where they got the survey from and the title didn’t come up in my google search so I’m guessing it’s a fake.

Kittypillar · 17/04/2018 09:17

I agree with PP - I don't think this is actually genuine and I'd be willing to bet it's causing exactly the reaction that it's hoping for....

In the wise words of Aristotle, "don't believe everything you see on the internet" ;)

Although I'd be still be behind that petition for the grand phrase of 'vaginal chamber' lol...

Pratchet · 17/04/2018 10:00

My apologies: it's not UK but Colorado. God forbid it ever comes here. I'll request MN to move this to feminism.
