Here is a survey on the terms used during your care and which you prefer

There was a thread on Reddit about this. Apparently the Colorado Midwives Association posted the link to the survey on Facebook and were thoroughly lambasted. This is indeed about them changing terminology affecting 51% of the population to mollify a tiny percentage, many of whom are not, never were, and never will be capable of maternity. The Facebook thread was deleted, but someone managed to screenshot a portion of it, redact names, and place on imgur. As I'm new here, I'm not sure if the link to the screenshot is allowed, but if it is, I'd be happy to post.

TinLizzy · 18/04/2018 06:42

Upstart, I put 'front milky mounds' for breasts, floof for vagina, squishy baby bag for womb Grin

JellySlice · 18/04/2018 06:54

Seems no one is bothered about upsetting transmen, i.e. women. Better not to rock the boat with “real men”, eh?

This is about not upsetting transmen.

(Doesn't make it any the less idiotic.)

BestBeforeYesterday · 18/04/2018 07:22

This is so fucking bonkers I don't know where to start. Surely calling a vagina a vaginal chamber or a uterus a womb (that made me laugh out loud, it's so silly) doesn't change anything - it still excludes transwomen because they will never have a vagina or a womb, whatever you may call it! FFS!!!!
Why would we want to change medical terminology anyway? HCPs need precise technical terms. Are we going to avoid mentioning eyes because some people cannot see, and ears because some people cannot hear?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 18/04/2018 07:38

Filled it in. Livid.

Koalablue · 18/04/2018 08:00

Is there a survey to rename the male gendered bits?
Penis could be pelvic sausage. Testicles could be ugly hairy things.

iamawoman · 18/04/2018 08:08

Did anyone notice the terms gendebender and BIGender at the end - i hope this is not nhs!! Honestly i wish these people would get the psychological help they need rather than trying to push terminology that applies to a miniscule population globally as opposed to 52% of women !!

elQuintoConyo · 18/04/2018 08:13

Tjis has made me very angry and quite sorried, actually.

I filled it in twice. Chose 'other' and re-wrote the term they wanted to change.

Then i filled in a bonkers one Grin i may have mentioned baby juice, flappage and magic button.

I feel 10 years old Grin

AncientLights · 18/04/2018 08:13

There's a video about this on Sisters to all Guides FB page - public group. It's by an American doula who can't believe it either.

I want to go back to Uni to study to be a midwife and I don’t know how I’m going to handle this BS if it comes in to the NHS training.

I live in an area with a lot of LGBT people so there is a definite chance I’ll end up treating a TIF as a patient and will of course want to be as sensitive to their emotional and psychological needs as possible to ensure their birthing experience is positive- but they will be the vast minority of the patients I’ll see.

Pratchet · 18/04/2018 08:39

Mrs Underwood - so many people thought it was fake but it's people like you who will end up trying to implement this nonsense because you have to

jelly I mean transmen as in women indentifting as men/ trans.

Natsku · 18/04/2018 09:55

but I couldnt resist "mummy juice" as an alternative to breast milk

I put Magic Mummy Milk as mummy juice is also beer in my house. And I put Boobing for breastfeeding. Ah it was great fun filling in that survey, might do it again.

Ekphrasis · 18/04/2018 09:58

(Regarding the original post) Some people need to repeat their anatomy exams it seems.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 18/04/2018 13:45

ACtually I see what you mean “jelly”. Got confused there for a second - which is not hard considering the sanity of the matter Hmm

noeffingidea · 18/04/2018 23:33

I just filled the survey in again. My vagina is now known as my 'tunnel of love'.

MadBadDaddy · 18/04/2018 23:34

I am shocked at the absence of "cha-cha" or "lady garden"

QueSera · 19/04/2018 14:51

This survey is revolting. So misogynistic, and dehumanising to females.
Is there a similar survey regarding male body parts and the male role in the reproductive process? If not, why not?

bebanjo · 19/04/2018 16:41

Not read the whole thread so apologies if it's already been said.
If a man who identifies as trans has a ' female penis'
Then surely a women who identifys as trans has ' male breasts'
And if this is so, why the need to stop using the language we have always used?
