What’s the deal with Dr Christian?

This tweet
“Some really vile views being spouted on twitter tonight. Such a shame. ‘When she was good she was very good indeed, but when she was bad she was horrid.’”
Seems to be about women discussing their issues with trans/self ID/free speech debate. Women know your place, and it certainly isn’t anywhere you can be heard!

And also here and all over his timeline.

He has a trans friend.

Probably enjoying a release of his so far hidden misogyny with a bit of projecting himself onto others.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/04/2018 16:58

Dr Christian appears to believe, despite his medical training, that a man is someone who says they are a man, and a woman who is someone who says they are a woman.

He is not the first doctor I have seen expressing these views which makes me somewhat concerned about the state of medical degrees in this country...

MipMipMip · 16/04/2018 17:01

He seems a very unpleasant individual. There was a woman saying how hard life was being a mother and his reply was "hope you're son never sees this." Sad

FloraFox · 16/04/2018 17:01

He’s your common or garden misogynist with a dash of fame-hunger and a healthy dose of doctor’s arrogance.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/04/2018 17:03

I think flora has summed him up there

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 16/04/2018 17:04

He is not the first doctor I have seen expressing these views

Nor I (and that’s my former field). His Twitter feed seems a dangerous ramble of misogynistic brain spills aimed toward women who disagree with him and pushing his agenda as poorly supported scientific fact, to 300,000 people.

At least the idiots I’ve worked with have been called out by colleagues and thankfully not been in a position to be used as evidence by an aggressive (and regressive) lobby group.

I don't think he likes women very much, given his past comments on breastfeeding.

HairyBallTheorem · 16/04/2018 17:08

As assassinated says, he has a long track record of saying unpleasant things about women... I don't think he likes us much. Specially not the older, no-longer-aesthetically pleasing sort. (Not in a sexual desire way, because he's gay, but in a "nasty functional things that aren't pretty, cluttering up my view" sort of way).

CapnHaddock · 16/04/2018 17:10

Another gay man who despises women. Their sympathy lies entirely with TIMs because they can't imagine anything more distressing than actually wanting to be a woman.

Jeanhatchet · 16/04/2018 17:23

He's an absolute misogynist who when challenged by women over women's issues alerts his followers to dogpile and has been known to engage in a fair level of online stalking in order to do so.

QueenLaBeefah · 16/04/2018 17:50

He's got issues with women. I remember him saying something ridiculous regarding breastfeeding.

QueenOfQuacks · 16/04/2018 18:03

I was just coming to say, isn't he the utter fool who thinks women breastfeeding past 12 months are doing it for their own benefit not for the child? I'm gonna have to look this up now. I'm sure that was him though.

AssassinatedBeauty · 16/04/2018 18:07

I think it was past 6 months, not 12. Which has to be one of the most ignorant comments from a doctor that you could imagine.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/04/2018 18:09

Oh thats where I know him from

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 16/04/2018 18:12

I've always thought he seems unpleasant.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 16/04/2018 18:23

Yeah I remember the BF comment Confused
Flora & capnH have it Star

miri1985 · 16/04/2018 18:27

Men have nothing to lose and get a gold star from others when they say things like this.

Just like OJ he wants to be on the "right side of history" (which I don't think has ever included sterlising children) and knows even if he isn't he won't have to deal with the fall out.

Misogyny is acceptable again and even celebrated as long as you frame it this way

RedToothBrush · 16/04/2018 19:04

He has a long history of hating women.

FencingFightingTorture35 · 16/04/2018 19:23

I wish I could remember the precise tweet but he got a lot of flak a while ago because he said so,ething along the lines of the age of consent being constructed and how other societies were comfortable with younger teens having sex (because some societies have child marriage I think)

If anyone knows what I'm alluding to, I'd be grateful for you hunting it down. It w awful, whatever it was he said. The man is a professional troll

TerfsUp · 16/04/2018 19:24

Yep. Misogynist to the core.

FlaviaAlbia · 16/04/2018 19:26

I've only seen him on panel shows but he doesn't come across as well as I suspect he thinks he does on them. I wouldn't fancy having him as a Dr, overall a bit creepy...

WhereYouLeftIt · 16/04/2018 19:40

Found this on a quick Google search

twitter.com/doctorchristian/status/712996773417975809

Any lawyers explain why age of consent is 16 (implied that too immature to consent if younger) but age of criminal responsibility is 10?!

diddlemethis · 16/04/2018 19:43

I do wonder what's going on in his head.

Does he not realise that other people can read his writing? Or is he so confident in his opinion, that he can't imagine other folk might disagree with him? That his foolish, bigoted nonsense will be documented forever?

stitchglitched · 16/04/2018 19:46

I can remember him tweeting about a woman in the public eye who either had or was considering an abortion (Josie Cunningham?) and being shocked at how nasty and judgemental he was for a supposed doctor.
