TRA infiltration

How much do you suspect the tra's have infiltrated Mumsnet? I am in a group on Facebook and we have been discussing this and are very worried that we may lose this forum, it would appear Mumsnet sponsors are being targeted and money counts. What can we do? I have seen a tightening up of trans talk, which I'm not saying isn't a good thing as tra's seem to be adopting a cleaner approach, Lily Madigan is, by saying her followers shouldn't use Terf etc. To be perfectly honest I have not seem any transphobia on Mumsnet, but still we are being targeted....... What to do to ensure we can carry on discussing this issue??

Don't let me stop you. Keep digging.

yetanother

I think you misunderstand me - and I did say not you.

As you well know, the internet is awash with TRAs claiming most oppressed ever status. That is what I was referring to - not you, which I was very careful to say so that you didn't take personal offence.

I believe that gender is a socially imposed system of power relations which disadvantages women. Transactivist ideology says it is not that at all; it is a matter of internal identity. I'm saying that gendered slurs and male violence is gender - that's exactly what it is. It's not some ineffable inner essence. It's being treated like shit by men whenever they can get away with it.

Hence, I say with irony (and to TRAs not to you) - Welcome to gender. Feminists tried to tell you gender is other people doing shit to you. You insisted it was being able to express your inner essence. Well, now you know it isn't.

I don't see why we can't acknowledge that we are all subject to violence and disrespect as a result of not being masculine

I have plenty of masculinity, I have tons of it. I have demonstrated bucket loads of masculinity in all the many decades of my life. I am still a 5' 2" female. Give me a break. I am subject to violence because I am smaller and physically weaker.

thebewilderness · 14/04/2018 23:47

Let's all walk on eggshells, shall we?

middlesis · 15/04/2018 08:32

I think it’s really important that women continue to have this discussion despite the pressure to silence us. Well done Mumsnet for not caving in.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 15/04/2018 08:48

I think it's really important not to dismiss anybody's experience of trauma and abuse. People like yet get flak from the general population for being trans and flak from their own community for not being genderists. Where can they come to be heard and supported if not here?

It's not a zero sum game. We can acknowledge that transsexuals are treated like crap under patriarchy without implying that women aren't. Our experiences are not the same, but they all matter. And although obviously some transgender activists talk about oppression as a DARVO tactic we are savvy enough to tell the difference I think Smile

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/04/2018 08:57

I agree Tallulah. I think (the other)Yetanother was unfairly jumped on here. There will be times that the interests of natal and transwomen clash here, but I hope that we can do a little better in terms of negotiating these differences.

Terfragette69 · 15/04/2018 09:54

No need to worry everyone, Mumsnet has our back!! Article in the Sunday Times....... Thank goodness for that and thank you Mumsnet for not giving in to bullies!

I have seen the T word used a few times on here, and reported each time. Only one of those times I actually took it to be meant as a slur, other times it was meaning transvestite, and its how a lot of transvestites do describe themselves. Never the less, regardless of intent, as I know its offensive to many many people, I did report each time.

thebewilderness · 15/04/2018 18:52

Where can they come to be heard and supported if not here?

That is the kernel of belief that forms the basis for the argument in favor of Self ID. It is women's job to listen and support the other half of the population.

Here is another rat fucker.

TerfAndSerf · 25/04/2018 02:02

Reported RachelGrace55, threatening someone is not on.

I see you.

Posting something inflammatory to screenshot it and post it elsewhere as 'proof' Mumsnet are anti trans.

Fuck you.

DillyDillyDally · 25/04/2018 02:12

It's so obvious it's almost laughable. If it wasn't going to be used to try and shut us women up of course

DixieFlatline · 25/04/2018 02:39

That attempt at a smiley, though. Grin

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 25/04/2018 02:46

Gosh they stay up late don't they?

That's a very unpleasant thing to say, RG

Mamaryllis · 25/04/2018 02:56

oh 'rach'. You have about as much authenticity as a 9 bob note. Did you manage to get a screen shot to use to bully more women into submission? Silly boy. My 8yo could do better. And I don't even HAVE an 8yo.

thebewilderness · 25/04/2018 03:09

Madigan? Is that you?

auntycartmanslargertesticle · 25/04/2018 04:28

Well it is now 4:21 and nearly 3 hours later Rachel the dead naming mispronouning violence-promoting TRA's post is still up..

TinyRick · 25/04/2018 05:36

Gosh they stay up late don't they?

Probably not from the UK. Seems to be quite a few Canadian TRAs getting involved with the Twitter posts about what is happening in UK politics/Mumsnet.
