TRA infiltration

How much do you suspect the tra's have infiltrated Mumsnet? I am in a group on Facebook and we have been discussing this and are very worried that we may lose this forum, it would appear Mumsnet sponsors are being targeted and money counts. What can we do? I have seen a tightening up of trans talk, which I'm not saying isn't a good thing as tra's seem to be adopting a cleaner approach, Lily Madigan is, by saying her followers shouldn't use Terf etc. To be perfectly honest I have not seem any transphobia on Mumsnet, but still we are being targeted....... What to do to ensure we can carry on discussing this issue??

I am sure if you put in a search for any word it will come up with something. Some of those posts were meant ironically and at least one was a quote of a source and as I said, they go back to 2010.

Circle, I wish you well with your real life problems. Your posts have been good and I have enjoyed having you around.

I suspect that if the current trial outcome is guilty and as a result of the failure to block last night’s meeting there might be more of this digging for dirt. It would be better to engage and come up with something workable but their campaigners would rather grub around for insults if l cashman’s tweet is anything to go by.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 13/04/2018 08:46

I find it bloody odd that they've blanked out the names - we're all anonymous here anyway, and if the people saying this stuff were regulars, I'd have thought they'd want to talk about that. Leads me to suspect that if they showed the names, and if those names were searched, perhaps those people wouldn't have been around very long....

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 08:49

A lot of them are quite old before trans issues were so much in the spotlight. Many of them are people quoting other sources. I have certainly rarely seen the word here. And imagine it would be reported and deleted most of the time. I agree it's a slur and not excusing it, but in the past it was quite a common word for a transvestite, so I don't think it was always perceived by the general population as bad. Plus many transsexual people do refer to themselves as such. There is at least one in the quoted posts. And someone saying "I thought it was an affectionate term", so clearly not done in malice.

I wonder what would happen if we ran a search, on any social media site, for the words "slag", "bitch" or "whore"?

Melamin · 13/04/2018 08:58

If I think about it, it is probably a word that I have only ever heard on auntie beeb and its sitcoms and light entertainment. It is not something I have heard discussed irl.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:00

Or terf.

R0wantrees · 13/04/2018 09:04

It serves two purposes the first is obvious, to discredit MN and those women who post here. The second though perhaps less considered, is that other people who are transgender believe the lies/propaganda that they are hated/ their existence under attack. In terms of manipulation and potential harm, the second concerns me more!

AncientLights · 13/04/2018 09:04

My Twitter account was closed, it had misbehave it seems, though how I don't know as I am hardly given to writing personal abuse. So I can't follow what's going on in this thread. I have reported the obvious troll.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:11

There is a secret Facebook group, 8 am in it, Posie and quite a few others from Mumsnet. They are trying to discredit us and bring us down, please don't let them! Pm me for info on the secret Facebook group. They will be trying to infiltrate that too.

It's all getting a bit ww2.... Aka writing in code and the resistance..... My head hurts.....

OP posts:
0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:16

Do you mean the CATT group? I already joined (and left) that one.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:17

8 am in it Grin that must be secret code right?

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:17

Yes that one. Can I ask why you left the group?

OP posts:
Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:18

Confused...

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:22

I just felt uneasy that it crossed a line.

Melamin · 13/04/2018 09:25

Probably best to eat your message after it has been read. Grin

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:26

OK fair enough. In my experience it's nothing sinister at all, just discussions and in light of the current climate where we are in danger of losing our refuge on Mumsnet it's important we have another outlet for discussion which the tra's can't infiltrate..... Sure they will try though...... 🙄

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:29

The person who set up the Facebook group keeps getting banned from Mumsnet... Even when not mentioning the group. We Have been Infiltrated and I'm not even joking. This is very scary and sinister.

OP posts:
Pratchet · 13/04/2018 09:50

It's hard to trust people, but we are forever taunted about our anonymity.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:58

They had their facebook group in their username for a long time and it's mumsnet policy to not allow self promotion of that kind. It's also policy of mumsnet if you are banned once you stay banned even with a new username.

Melamin · 13/04/2018 10:03

I was joking about sunglasses and hats, sixties spy film style and the meetings are very “ ‘allo ‘allo I shall say this only weurnce” but whilst meetings are being shut down and people’s place of work is being approached, sponsorship being withdrawn on spurious evidence and there is a climate of fear and hate going on that is the only way forward. If those in government would take their fingers out of their ears and stop adding to the insults on twitter then it might change.

It would probably help if the police were not travelling the length of England to set up test cases too.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 10:06

I mean it obviously proves there is a huge increase in reports going on here terfragette69

On the politics board there was a known poster who would link to his own blog rather a lot, and eventually got banned for that but came back with a new username and was around for over a year before doing the same thing again and being banned again after being reported. Things like that are only ever really spotted by MNHQ after it's been reported.

It looks like feminist posters are just being reported constantly for anything.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 10:10

0phelia

Yes I think you are right. However, other groups have been allowed to advertise on here, #Sex matters and #Man Friday. If we lose Mumsnet what are we going to do??

OP posts:
Pratchet · 13/04/2018 11:30

The women who run MN must be exceptionally bright: they have navigated a very difficult few years on trans issues with vastly more success than any other media. I don't doubt they will continue to be able to do it.

The only thing that could stop them is an actual criminal charge or a successful civil suit.

So all the women who recommend ensuring that doesn't happen are bang on.

I hate my tone on here: I'm not really a twat but I sound like one. I think all you MN feminists are amazing.

OnTheList · 13/04/2018 15:16

I find it very odd that they blanked out the usernames, even the daily mail do not do that. Leads me to believe somethings up tbh

thebewilderness · 13/04/2018 20:45

So it looks like a collection of posts containing the word ty.
With a few rare exceptions, I have only ever seen transgender identified people use that term on the internet.
