By which I mean continued protection of women/girl-only spaces (physical spaces, services, organisations, stats, programmes) on a sex-not-gender basis.

I would.

Because nearly everything else follows from maintaining that distinction.

Yes. But I would also want a guarantee that their position would not change again

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 09/04/2018 12:10

Absolutely

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 09/04/2018 12:11

What Lang said basically

LarryUnderwood · 09/04/2018 12:11

Yes, agree with LangCleg. Was seriously considering joining until I saw their stance on ts issue so if they changed I probably would join.

loveyouradvice · 09/04/2018 12:12

Yes echo Lang - I know this is the most important issue of my lifetime

And I would like them to review how they have approached Heather BE.... not a deal breaker but it was shocking.....

MolliewithOllie · 09/04/2018 12:12

No - I do not trust them.

NotTerfNorCis · 09/04/2018 12:13

If they were genuinely gender critical then yes. It's a very important issue.

Imherefornow · 09/04/2018 12:15

Quite possibly. I am political. I feel quite bereft that the major political parties refuse to even humour the need for a full and meaningful debate on the proposed changes to the GRA.

I am very impressed with sophies assurance that they will engage with the issue and her evident support of the nordic model.

Sure, it was late in coming but I admire her integrity. I hope that this integrity is reflected in their wider policies...

And though there are no candidates in my constituency, if this level of engagement continues, I would be keen to offer my support.

ijustwannadance · 09/04/2018 12:15

No. I don't trust the either.

ijustwannadance · 09/04/2018 12:16

*them

Terftastic · 09/04/2018 12:17

Yes, I would. I'm hopeful, actually.

2rebecca · 09/04/2018 12:18

Probably not, although a feminist I've never been inclined to join the women's sections in either party I was a member of. Most of the issues I'm concerned with affect both men and women. I also think you can influence men's opinions on things more by discussing stuff with them rather than campaigning against them. I'm not a fan of segregation in general (Catholic/ Protestant/Muslim : white/black/asian)
I support sex segregated stuff where you need it for biological functions or safety otherwise I think it fosters a them and us mentality.

Strigiformes · 09/04/2018 12:18

Yes, I would.

2rebecca · 09/04/2018 12:19

And sport of course

YimminiYoudar · 09/04/2018 12:20

Yes I would. I've been put off joining WEP for various reasons which would pale into insignificance if they adopted a policy that acknowledged that sometimes the needs of women and the desires of transwomen will clash and when that happens it's OK to not throw women under the bus.

I expect the party has plenty of TIM members now to ensure that this never happens though.

CapnCabinet · 09/04/2018 12:22

Yes.

I've struggled with my conscience on this, but come this round of local elections I will be spoiling my ballot with a female sex sign. I've always voted Lib Dem but now there is no party to represent me.

malaguena · 09/04/2018 12:23

I would seriously consider it too.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 09/04/2018 12:23

I am already a lifetime founder member.

I've hung on because I was sat between Heather and Sophie in the recent meeting in London, and I believed from that convo that Sophie is now listening.

Popchyk · 09/04/2018 12:25

Honestly? I think they've shown very poor judgement from the outset, which doesn't give me loads of confidence that any U-turn on policy would be permanent. Or that they'd be capable of translating that policy into practical changes for the benefit of women.

I'd wait a bit and see how they conduct themselves.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 09/04/2018 12:26

I think I would

CockOffPostmanPat · 09/04/2018 12:27

Yes, I would. But I wouldn't hesitate to leave if they changed their stance!

MumOfThrMoos · 09/04/2018 12:29

Yes, I would.

I have left the Lib Dems over their stance on Self ID.

When WEP first started I was very tempted but decided to watch and wait - I was quite disappointed by their silence over Brexit, which to my mind has far reaching implications for women - although it might be just that I didn't hear rather then they weren't talking about it.

I have found their approach thus far to self ID extraordinary.

But I have been watching Sophie on Twitter this last week or so with interest.

Winewinewinegin · 09/04/2018 12:37

Currently, on this issue, conservatives have most positive pro-women's rights stance.

Every party missed issues of impact on women and girl's rights. However, they seem to be aware of this and keen on keeping same sex exemptions. They haven't closed down discussion across the board and expelled members who state their opinion on women's rights.

So currently they would get my vote.

Labour really need to sort themselves out, voters aren't stupid.

hungryhippie · 09/04/2018 12:37

Yes ,I definitely would

R0wantrees · 09/04/2018 12:37

I have held off cancelling membership... and have been watching recent posts with interest
