Exactly, FeministBadger - redacted documents must be obviously redacted.

They can't just be retyped.

QuentinSummers · 11/04/2018 20:04

No problem that none of the accused's statements matched, that they had deleted texts, met up to discuss their "story", didn't have to explain the old bloodstains on the sheets , had time to wash their clothes afterwards, semen on the crotch of the girl's jeans not allowed to be mentioned but the complainant had to have perfect recall with no discrepancies whatsoever

Yes exactly. I think certain things shouldn't be allowed in defence as they are prejudicial. Such as suggesting she was trying to come across as "the perfect rape victim"
Or allowing the regret myth as a defence

eloisesparkle · 11/04/2018 20:39

Ugh!!!!
Harrison bringing the victim home and then sending a video of spit roasting the next day to his mates.

Situp · 11/04/2018 20:41

DH and I have really fallen out over this. He gets his information from rugby forums and the attitude on many of them is that these players are victims, the WhatsApp messages were just silly banter and because they were found not guilty, the victim was lying.

I look at my 2 DDs and feel so enraged that I can't offer them a world where they won't be second class, that even violation of their person will be seen as not a big deal or their fault.

I worked in professional rugby for 10 years, and sadly, although there are a lot of teams who wouldn't touch these players with a barge pole, they will get professional contracts. Part of community work of players is to visit schools and promote grass roots rugby. Would anyone want these players talking to our daughters about the respect within the game? Angry

You and me both.
DH is with the 'lads' Sad

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 11/04/2018 21:07

Regardless of anything that happened in that room, I just cannot ever imagine someone leaving my house bleeding and me not being concerned about them enough to sit with them until their taxi came and at least text them the next day to make sure they’re OK. Basic common decency. But the fact PJ was content to just fall asleep in her blood and also either his own or someone else’s Shock I mean even if he was too drunk to notice or deal with it that night surely he woke the next morning, saw the blood and remembered what happened and was concerned for the woman? No? Is that not a natural human feeling?

OP posts:
gluteustothemaximus · 11/04/2018 21:14

Everyone who is defending the players, are ignoring some of the most basic facts. Like the injuries she sustained.

They bang on about how her story had 'so many inconsistencies' yet they ignore the players many many inconsistencies outright lies

I have been outraged by this case. And my head hurts from the virtual banging on the brick wall.

If one more person says 'they were found innocent' and therefore 'she is lying' I will lose it!!!!!!

The abuse on twitter is surreal.

One lady made some brilliant comments, and because in her profile picture she has short hair (yes, I know that sounds silly) the men were saying comments like 'don't worry love, you'll never get raped'. Like getting raped was something to aspire too, and proves you're 'attractive' enough to be raped!

Angry
Twixes · 11/04/2018 21:17

You'd think so Zibbidoo, but to him she was just a piece of meat to 'spitroast'.

And from the Irish Times:

'It also did not hear about pictures sent by a friend of the men, identified as AA, to a WhatsApp group containing Mr Jackson, Mr Olding and Mr McIlroy.

The pictures showed AA having sex with a woman in the recent past. One of the accused men reacted “very enthusiastically” to the pictures, the prosecution said.'

Vile.

gluteustothemaximus · 11/04/2018 21:21

Most of the vile comments on twitter say that the woman in question got her period early. No big deal Hmm

That's what she thought at first. But then the doctor confirmed that it wasn't menstrual blood.

Why are they ignoring the facts?!

You can't reason with stupid.

Fucking hell. These are possible future jury members.

kikashi · 11/04/2018 21:30

They all have shown that women are just pieces of meat to them . Even those "very middle class girls" that were tagged as "brassers" and "sluts".

I wonder if McIlroy is still "sleeping in" with Paddy?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 11/04/2018 21:41

gluteus if that was on Twitter I saw those comments directed at that woman. She handled them brilliantly but it’s Absolutely ridiculous that she had to. I mean, what?? She should be grateful she “isn’t attractive” enough to be raped?? Angry total ignoramuses!!

Those videos/texts revealed today just confirmed (even moreso) everything I suspected about these scumbags. They should have been shown in court. Apparently we can’t trust the jury to make the right decision with all the evidence so we only show them certain selected evidence. Hmm

Btw I hope all this new evidence of videos and texts etc has been forwarded on to UR and IRFU to form part of their review.

My dh keeps telling me about the support for Jackson and Olding and the petition to reinstate them on the Ulster team.
How many signed that and how many signed the one in support of the victim do you know?
I want to hit him with statistics.

Maryz · 11/04/2018 22:07

At the moment there are 15,000 fuckwits people supporting their petition, and 70,000 have signed the anti-one - but I suspect most of that 70,000 aren't from Ulster Sad

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 11/04/2018 22:20

Well this anti one is. And I know quite a few Ulster women irl who have signed it too. Don’t know any men who have. Maybe they just don’t want to say out loud, where people can hear.

OP posts:
Maryz · 11/04/2018 22:33

I'm glad of that Zibbidoo; I've been rather avoiding the FB comments (apart from the IT which seems to have a relatively sensible readership) as it's all too depressing.

I know men down here who have signed the anti one.

I also have a very good (now ex for many reasons not just this) friend who shared the "reinstate them" one - a middle aged man, father to a 20 year old dd; someone who should know better. And who has been called on it by a fair few of his own dd's friends, which is interesting to watch!

treaclesoda · 11/04/2018 22:36

This one of the 70,000 signatories is from Ulster. A lot of my Facebook friends signed it too, including some men (although not enough men, sadly)

treaclesoda · 11/04/2018 22:36

I should clarify that I mean Facebook friends who are also local to me.

buckeejit · 11/04/2018 22:59

This one is too. I desperately hope UR don't take them back but I think they will & it will be a final kick in the guts if they do.

Exactly agree about them as rugby players promoting the sport-so disgusting & Belfast Telegraph couldn't be more biased if it tried ffs!

The reporting restrictions haven't shown anything new, just reinforced the disgusting attitudes we were already aware of. The blood comments were very weird though

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 11/04/2018 23:03

I too think they will take them back to avoid an expensive legal battle.

OP posts:
Maryz · 11/04/2018 23:12

I too think that Ulster will take them back.

I'm really hoping, though, that Ireland avoids selecting them, whatever they do about employing them. They, surely, can't ever be suitable as representatives of a country.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 11/04/2018 23:23

They’re not even suitable representatives as human beings. They should have a legal guardian appointed to each one of them. They’re not safe to be let out alone.

Sexual activity that leaves a woman bleeding, crying and making a police report.

Yeah, I'll object to them playing a national sport. Where they're role models. Who mentioned "the gays" - do you associate gay men with activity that leaves women in hysterics and bleeding?

anneoneill · 12/04/2018 00:09

Who exactly are they role models for? Raise your own bloody kids, don't expect the back pages of the newspaper to do it.

AnitaLovesVictor · 12/04/2018 00:10

You're a charmer aren't you? "bloody kids" - "the gays" - yes. I think we see who you are.
