See what they are re-tweeting:

twitter.com/LGBTLD

(Not sure how to link to the exact tweet but it's the Cole Zachary one).

There really is no one to vote for, is there?

This is chilling. I am a member of the LibDems and boy do I feel like an idiot right now. I joined them as they were the only REMAIN party at the last election. I will complain to someone official about this. If I am not listened to I will leave and they can use the woke folks to hand out their leaflets for them instead. Not sure who the best person is to complain to, will look into it.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:59

Yeh the Greens are an anti-female sausage fest too.

I'd love to see this all broken down into its basic numerical statistics though. How does women's - and I'd like see lesbian specific stats too - representation compare to trans identified males in the different parties? In their candidates, and in the their 'equality' related groupings/advisors?

MsMcWoodle · 30/03/2018 12:04

Just been muted by a poster on the Lib dem site. My first 'mute'. So proud.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 12:06

Oh do you get a notification if you're muted?? I've muted loads of people, didn't think they'd know!

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 12:08

No they must have said "I'm muting you" or similar.

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 12:09

Unless this is a new thing, they're always fiddling about with the settings. I never block people, I mite very frequently.

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 12:09

*Mute

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 12:10

I mute loads, always for spam though, never because I disagree with them. The most entertaining accounts are the ones I disagree with!

MsMcWoodle · 30/03/2018 12:30

Yeah it says 'muted'. I just took it to mean that I'd won the argument.

Daff0dil · 30/03/2018 12:36

It is very concerning to have seen how recent threads on closed LibDem newbie members' Facebook groups were controlled and shut down.
I think it's important that this is shaming and silencing is shared with more senior LibDems, rather than battling with those who are wielding rather a lot of power.
Concerns that affect women and girls must not be silenced by a small number of people.... tis neither liberal nor democratic!

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 12:36

I became a member after Blair ignored us on Iraq. I left a few years ago due to their policies on prostitution and trans and haven't voted for them since.

borntobequiet · 30/03/2018 13:14

Judder, I called the phone number on the main website.
I also emailed the local party and said I wouldn't be supporting them, campaigning for them or voting for them while the current state of affairs exists. I suggested they forward my email to the national party, which they said they would do.

LibDemWoman · 30/03/2018 14:27

I just resigned from the Lib Dems after 20 years of membership.

Just couldn't be a part of it when the deputy leader and president started retweeting the LD LGBT Twitter feed, thereby condoning the rampant misogyny that comes out of it. Couldn't do it any longer.

I've written Vince a long letter to explain it. They won't give two hoots about me leaving but if they start to get letters explaining why people are leaving my hope is that it'll be good for thought.

I also copied in: Jo Swinson (Dep Leader), Sal Brinton (President), Lorely Burt (Women's Spokesperson), Meral Hussein-Ece (Equalities Spokesperson). All except for Jo are members of the House of Lords.

I suggest if you are Lib Dem and thinking of leaving to, that you involve the sane people.

DarthArts · 30/03/2018 14:35

@RosenbergW

Hi I've PM'd you

LittleLebowski · 30/03/2018 14:44

That must be pretty sad for you LibdemWoman. You spoke very well at the WPUK meet. Would you consider another party, being an independent?

LibDemWoman · 30/03/2018 16:36

Yes, Little, I'm feeling very sad but it's been a long time coming.

Whilst it was just the LD LGBT Twitter I could try and convince myself all is not lost. It's not unusual in political parties for internal committees and organisations to act as a locus if power for people who other wise would not have much themselves.

But once people like Sal & Jo (particularly Jo) started retweeting their stuff then it can't be ignored. They are the party and they should think a little bit more critically in my view.

No dissent allowed.

Not liberal. Not democratic.

I'm very sad.

Judder · 31/03/2018 09:38

Thanks borntobequiet and LibDemWoman for advice. I will write a letter and copy those suggested so at least it will reinforce the point to the same people.

By the way LibDemWoman I also greatly admired what you said at Woman's Place in London. The party are raving idiots to let you go.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 31/03/2018 09:44

Wow RosenbergW that's an eye opening breakdown.

GrimDamnFanjo · 31/03/2018 10:54

LibDem here of over 30 years. If you include the Liberals too. I haven't renewed, I've come and gone over the years from membership, but held office both locally and nationally, plus served as a councillor.
I'm done now.
The party's liberation record was always the best from the main parties, but within the membership I think there's always been a section of misogyny and the lgbt group has always been dominated by gay men.
@LibDemWoman you are totally right - when the female leadership have abandoned all critical thinking there's no hope left.
Sometimes I read the stuff in the Facebook groups and want to comment but really there's no point.

RosenbergW · 31/03/2018 12:38

I'm not sure if I was wrong earlier because I can't find the page where I thought I had seen Jennie Rigg identify as trans, but I'm inclined to trust @feministroar on twitter who says Jennie is a woman:
mobile.twitter.com/FeministRoar/status/979480631129198592

Jennie does identify as bisexual and poly though.

And Hollie Matthies, the other woman on the LGBTLD Executive, turns out to be a bi woman married to a man.
womenswordsmcr.com/blog/2017/09/06/hollys-story/

So there is still no lesbian representative on the Executive and isn't clear if there has ever been, either. But given the disproportional number of trans identifying males on the Executive, and all of them having a public history of misogyny, and in Sarah Brown's case at least some shameless lesbophobia too, I'd be surprised if many lesbian women felt welcome.

Apologies if I did get that wrong. Anyone run the stats on the LGBT candidates? Wish I knew where to start cos I think it would be something to pressure them on.

DarthArts · 31/03/2018 12:48

@RosenbergW

This one?

Just when you thought the LibDems couldn't out-crazy Labour...
RosenbergW · 31/03/2018 13:02

No, it was an article with Jennie's name at the bottom, but I can't find it now and I'm not sure of myself on it. Not sure if that tweet is sarcastic or not, I don't trust anything this group says, they are openly nasty, goady, lesbian-erasing, and seem to think drunkenly tweeting misogyny is hilarious. These are the official libdem lgbt+ representatives, including the chair of the Executive! It's a very grim situation.

I don't know how all the parties are letting these men get away with this public misogyny and baiting. I don't believe other politicians haven't seen it, women have been pointing it out for ages. Is there any other group of people that could get away with this behaviour? Is it just fear that stops the parties from confronting it or are there other interests being protected?

DarthArts · 31/03/2018 13:27

Yes I'm not sure if it's sarcasm or not.

RedToothBrush · 02/04/2018 17:51

LGBT + Lib Dems @ LGBTLD
Transphobes using Mumsnet to recruit for Internet “pile-on” (their words) of @CalSleeper, @ScotParl, @Girlguiding. Alt-right troll tactics aimed at making it impossible for trans women to be part of society. Please RT.

Just when you thought the LibDems couldn't out-crazy Labour...
MumOfThrMoos · 02/04/2018 20:35

Honestly, I think it's best to just ignore them.

It looks like having access to the Twitter account is the best they can do in life & you really have to just feel sorry for them.

It's really very dim to pick on one posting from one person on Mumsnet & try to make out that is Mumsnet.

It just shows they've no idea what they're talking about.

TBH I think they've probably enjoyed the attention they've been getting over the last few days - it's probably more than they've rd ives for the last 3 years or more. What the LD LGBT. Group think about anything is irrelevant.
