That is amazing! It gets right to the heart of it.

It is a good article. All this debate has introduced me to some good writers who check their sources and put together a good argument and write it well. I now read Janice Turner regularly.

Actually, can we request a change to the title of this thread? I’m not on board with accepting the label of terf, any more that I am with cis. “Gender critical MNer”, “critical thinker” or a “questioning woman” sits better with me.

There's a hell of a lot of double standards going on in politics and media at the moment.

That article is spot on. The hatred isn't coming particularly from transexuals - it's coming from Men's Rights Activists and other misogynists of various gender identities who've found a loophole from which to terrorise women.

They’ve been given a name, a name that means they’re bad people, people who should not speak and should not be heard. That name is “Terf,” which once meant “Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist” but now appears to stand in its own right as a term of abuse and dismissal alongside the other short, harsh words often used to question the worth and virtue of women.

Thanks James. Excellent article. Our politicians are being very cowardly on this issue and hanging a huge proportion of their electorate out to dry. Plus damaging our ongoing ability to debate important issues and believe the evidence of our own eyes.

Thanks Brandy. I don’t want to compel language etc, but I did want to thank James. After I posted, it then occurred to me that it looked like I agreed with and accepted the term. I don’t - it is designed to “other” women.

I see you are reading here and elsewhere and taking notice, not only of the threats and intimidation, but of what is actually being said, from practical objections to Girl Guides dropping safeguarding, through sexist implications in new swimming rules (breasts are bad but penises are just fine and dandy) to McCarthyite intimidation of women with the temerity to hold political opinions.

None of this is necessary to reduce the discrimination GNC people, trans or otherwise, face in society.

Excellent article, once upon a time i scrolled past the Feminist posts, believed they were not for me, how wrong i was.

Keep up the investigating James, your voice is helping us be heard and you acknowledge the reality, as a man, you do not suffer the same abuse as the women who say exactly the same thing.
