FFS. Flagged at work for gender critical views

It's happening.

I'm new in a private sector company. My personal twitter doesn't mention my employer. I've apparently been flagged as 'high risk' for my gender critical views (linking to articles, carefully worded, no abusive language obviously) on my twitter feed. Boss is sympathetic but has told me to be very careful and to not ever mention at work.

We are being silenced for holding perfect legitimate pro-women views and concerns. I'm fuming and scared - both for my job and for women.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't post anything nasty even about trans people. I generally try to stick to pronouns, using they or names if it really sticks in my throat, and don't comment on appearance etc.

I discuss view points and ideas, experiences which is all part of free speech and actually always biologically true.

And I still feel I have to hide.

Seven hex is fab.

This:
"There is nothing "female" about a penis.....that's why I got rid of mine."

All employers review social media, especially in new recruits. It's part of the screening process

And the rules around this are changing fast. GDPR guidelines state that potential/employers should have legal grounds for checking social media. Employees have a right to privacy and searching out information that doesnt relate to an ability to do the job and/or is disproportionate is becoming increasingly unacceptable. Let your employer know this

Daff0dil · 26/03/2018 15:28

Seven Hex's 11th & 12th point are I think key in this context...
(Important to stress that this is about some TRA, not people who are transgender)
'Self id is not only toxic, its dangerous. The very fact its essentially being pushed through with dissent heavily punished, should be enough to raise the hairs on your, well everywhere. Violence and intimidation surrounds'

Willow "GDPR guidelines state that potential/employers should have legal grounds for checking social media"

thank you for flagging this up.

holycheeseplant · 26/03/2018 16:15

Oh no!

CapnHaddock · 26/03/2018 16:16

In the past I mean

WillowWept · 26/03/2018 16:23

spring it's a big change in approach. The guidelines are not binding at present but considered best practice. Case law will undoubtedly follow GDPR implementation post May.

Terfragette69 · 26/03/2018 16:23

How can anyone tell who is who on mums net? What are we going to do about this? Fuming!

Oblomov18 · 26/03/2018 16:29

Do you not think this thread should be moved to 'employment' topic, to get an employment lawyers view in it?

boatyardblues · 26/03/2018 17:14

If the FPFW website has been taken down, that’s quite telling IMO. The TRAs seem quite rattled by all the recent media coverage. If their arguments don’t stand up to reasonable scrutiny and debate, that should be their problem to address. Show that what you are asking for constitute reasonable adjustments (the test in equality law) and balance the needs of all users without discriminating against other protected groups (women, religious belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy/maternity) and you’ll have no problem. Continue to shout down opposing views and trampling roughshod over other groups who enjoy equal protection in law? Then don’t be surprised if you get pushback. Respect cannot be compelled and it is stronger if it is earned.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 26/03/2018 17:16

FPFW still appearing as normal for me?

holycheeseplant · 26/03/2018 17:34

It is an interesting time because all the people I know who are very pro self ID are utterly dismayed and shocked that the mainstream opinion is "WTF?" rather than 'TW are W".

I have to say, I'd really love to know which of the people supporting all this genuinely believe that TWaW. Not just the ones who say it but the ones who genuinely, would stand up to lie detector scrutiny, believe it.

CapnHaddock · 26/03/2018 18:43

Even transpeople know that they're the sex they were born as:
