Just for a few comments that were very polite but were different to their politics on what being trans means.

It's disturbing that someone who claims to be trans and who wants to speak for women blocks people who have different views to them.

All the gender critical transwomen get blocked and lumped in with 'terfs'.

For what it's worth I don't think Lily is any kind of trans that you or I would recognise. Lily is an agent provocateur and most likely an MRA.

It's a bit disturbing it only took 3 tweets. And they liked a few of them. I can see why someone would block abuse - I have blocked people who have sent me abusive messages - but surely someone who claims to be a politician should not live in a filter bubble.

Unbelievable, isn't it? No matter how politely worded or how close you come to Madigan's point of view - dissent, no matter how minor is simply not tolerated. I still worry that Madigan is a vulnerable person in an incredibly hostile public arena, but many other, equally vulnerable people are blocked, doxxed, gaslighted or silenced by Madigan & friends in that very same arena without any thought given to their feelings. It's complete madness...and I'm sorry this happened to you as well.

Tbh I was completely shocked to read how much contempt people like Madigan seem to feel free to show to other trans people, but to transsexuals in particular. But I recently read an article written by a post-op transwoman who has come to understand this as an intrinsic part of the new trans community. Otherwise they wouldn't use ridiculous notions like "passing privilege" as sticks to beat other trans people with. She was vilified for criticising an aspect of the trans community that was important to her life and the whole full machinery engulfed her - they got her fired, ostracised, she was threatened...and all for expressing an opinion they didn't like.

She's now removed herself completely from the scene and I wonder if this isn't why the community seems to become more and more hostile and poisonous to itself and those it feels slighted or threatened by. If the reasonable adults all leave, what are you left with?

This is what will mark the end of this destructive movement's power, imo. The atomisation of identities as all these pomo-addled [thanks to the MNer who coined this term recently] loons seek to outdo each other in laying stake to the superior identity, means that they will ultimately turn on each other. Sadly, they will leave in their wake the genuine trans people whose plight they have highjacked.

I am not at all sure politics is the right career for this person. Politics means listening to other points of view whether you like them or not. That said if they are particularly depressed which seems likely I can understand them shutting out things which would make that depression worse.

Pressed post too soon - politics also means you are the subject of abuse and speculation and while this is very unpleasant when it is personal (and arguably unnecessary) it is a fact that you must and will be held accountable for your views and be prepared to defend them - that doesn't mean pretending the other point of view doesn't exist.

That said, politics can also be pretty childish (see HOC bun fights and all the boos and heckles)

When they think they have silenced women, it’s only a matter of time before they turn on each other. I used to say, during the troubles, that the monsters that kill in the name of religion/politics will always find a reason. If they didn’t have religion/politics they would still find a reason because they needed someone to hate.

The same will happen with the TRAs. When they think they have won, they will turn on each other. You will have to be the ‘right kind’ of TIM, or you’ll be a terf. Look at how they already hate the transsexuals, because they don’t fit the TRAs’ narrative.
I imagine many transsexuals are quite relieved to be hated by, rather than included with them.
