Jean Hatchet - harassed for riding for murdered women

rowdywoman1 · 21/03/2018 10:39

She's been riding in commemoration of women murdered by men - and raises a significant amount of money for domestic violence charities.
Predictably along comes someone (from Goldsmiths funnily enough) calling her transphobic for not centring transgender women in her rides.
Twitter thread here twitter.com/JeanHatchet/status/975835612086439937

The level of misogyny is quite overwhelming at times - but has made me go to Jean's go fund me page and make a donation so in one way there's a positive result

Yes, this is her.

CapnHaddock · 21/03/2018 16:11

Yep. Jean also appears on LM's list of transphobes, despite never once tweeting anything about transpeople at all as far as I know. But she didn't kowtow to LM and is centring women so obviously she deserves doxxing.

I am so fucking angry at the moment.

I have no blummin idea how to "do" Mumsnet so thanks for the support and if this is posted under "Where has my daughter hidden my brolly again?" My massive apologies. Your brolly is in the dog. Maybe.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 15/04/2018 13:46

LizzieSiddal · 15/04/2018 15:07

[Flowers] welcome Jean you are awesome!

rowdywoman1 · 15/04/2018 15:13

As this awesome woman is now a mumsnetter, it seems like the perfect opportunity to mention her gofundme page. I suspect that the site rules won't allow me to link it but a google of ride for murdered women brings it straight to the top.
Donations go direct to Wearside Women in Need who are trying to replace council funding which they have lost for their women's refuges.

Welcome Jean,

Stick around, it's lovely here, most of the time 😉

Off to find your crowdfunding site ....

PissedOffWoman · 15/04/2018 16:27

Welcome Jean. I admire you so much.

What you do is incredibly important. Giving these woman a voice when they have crually had theirs stolen and highlighting their horrific stories is vital. Letting the world know their names when reports of their deaths are often about the perpetrators not the victims is crucial.

Thank you so much for doing this.

You are one of my heroines.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 15/04/2018 16:31

Thanks for mentioning it's Wearside Wpmen in Need, I didn't know that. it's where I was born. Off to donate.

I can see some recent donations - what a great outcome on a day where women are finally being heard.

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

that "y'all" thing! My STBXH is using that on his cross dressing/fetish forums. It is so weird, he is in reality a balding, middle aged, ashen faced man living in Scotland, yet online to his "girly girls" he's all Californian frat girl chat, lots of "hugs n kisses" etc. So cringeworthy.

Jeanhatchet · 15/04/2018 16:49

Awww what a welcome! Thanks women. So kind. And thanks for the donations too. BikeBlushSmile
