Hate and Misogyny Is Once Again Silencing Women.

Women are being silenced. This is rooted in hate and sexism and we must not stand for it.

Don't let others tell you that Terf is just an acronym. It is now used as a hateful slur and is deliberately used to demonise and incite other to hate us.

I'm going to stop legitimating its use and stop writing it in capital letters from now on, it's a word used by others with the same venom and malice like c#nt or b#tch.

This hate is designed to silence us through fear, shame and rejection. Its an age-old tactic used on women and it's happening right here and now in 2018.

I have written this article documenting the many ways women are being intimidated. I was shocked at how bad it really is. Seeing it all compiled in one place is quite sobering. The public needs to know what's happening. Please share if you can.

It's unbelievable that women are framed as bigots for wanting to discuss how changes to legislation will impact our rights. Rights that were put in place to protect us from discrimination as a direct result of having female bodies

I agree with the OP. Women need to push back completely against what is going on and this includes we must stop capitulating to the very notion that males are women. It's not a true statement.

We cannot control others calling us these epithets, but we can push back and say, you are not a woman. The irony being that they insist on labelling us, on confirming their identity through forcing language onto us, and then claim we are c&4ts if we do not mirror their self-image.

There are several issues at hand: that there is misogyny that is in full resurrection through this labelling of women; that there is misogyny by males forcing women to mirror their language & to stfu; and that society conveniently bows to these males and demands that women, not men, make space and sacrifice for these men.

We need to say: men are not women, women are not men, gender is performative and everyone is non-binary to varying degrees.

Those screenshots really do show what's happening - strangely I've seen many of them before but seeing them all at once and with it broken down into the type of hate and misogyny really makes it obvious. Thanks for the work compiling this - I can't imagine it was an enjoyable task but very important to have a record of it.

This is in stark contrast to a previous tweet by Shon Faye who summarised their own guidance to school children as ‘suck dick, get tits early‘

No but we can be clear that we don't like it and the motives behind it. The general public are bemused by all this. They have no idea the risks we take to speak up. We look like a fringe group that isn't relevant. Just a few lone voices. Whereas in reality loads of women agree with us. They just daren't say it. We are being abused and people need to know that.

Perhaps some of the best people to receive this would be our currently oh so silent MPs. They may be quiet about the eradication of women but maybe the violent eradication of free speech might help them find their moral compass? or maybe not .

And where are the men?? So many women are doing their level best to try to stop this tide of hatred and abuse and facing all kinds of evil as a result and what are men doing??? Fuck all as usual!!!😡

I think you could add Germain Greer (again) to the list of women being discredited after a wee wander onto twitter and the media.

Thank you for this. I've been thinking for a little while that nobody really, actually cares if someone is a "terf" (maybe some do but I would argue the majority don't), because, aside from the spectacularly deluded, pretty much everyone is going to hold some views (whether they dare to admit them or not) that qualify as "terfy".

Reading this has made me realise it's just an excuse to target women. A special type, of outspoken, not-afraid-to-challenge-this-nonsense, clever, woman. To put her back in her place.

One of the Twitter quotes, I think it was about ripping out a terf's ovaries, I found particularly chilling because it was so graphic. Sorry that you had to trawl through this bile.

This is a brilliant article It's so clear and reasonable and seems even more so when contrasted to the vindictive rage and hate displayed against women in the screenshot.
