Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

An International Women's Group which is actually for and about women and girls!

I seem to remember that there was recently a thread about women's or feminist groups we could join to meet like-minded women in real life. It did seem that the few which did exist have been infiltrated by TIMs.

Today, I met a woman from my local Soroptimist International. She has asked me to speak to them, after the summer sometime, about transgender issues - this was after hearing me speak today about the silencing of women, with particular reference to Heather Brunskell-Evans, Venice Allan and Jennifer James, encouraging people to read Andrew Gilligan's article in the Sunday Times, and the trade unionist attacked by TRAs on a picket line on IWD. She said that they have become aware that this is an issue which they need to learn much more about. They have had contact with a TIF - attending meetings I think, rather than as an invited speaker. I also mentioned what's happening with Girl Guiding, and she shared my concerns about that, and said that Soroptimists remains a single sex organisation.

I've now had a chance to look at what they do, and am very impressed. I've applied to join my local club, and as many of us here, like me, might not know much about them, thought I'd share here, and encourage you to check them out and consider joining.

I'm a Soroptimist too - and also not a granny. But one of the great things about Soroptimist is that all ages of women work together. There are clubs all over the UK (and the world). You can generally go along to a meeting for free and see if it appeals to you before joining. Super friendly and supportive women in my club in east London! If empowering women sounds like something you'd like to be part of - get in touch!

Well, how weird that I came across this on my twitter feed. I had never heard of SI until this thread.

It seems, at least in Philadelphia USA, they took the side of a TRA.

Read how ridiculous this has become below.

I'd like to be part of a female only organisation that works to empower women and girls, sadly I don't think any exist.

Thanks @MarSeeAh for your interesting thread. I'm sorry, I have hijacked it. I was really excited and hopeful on reading the title and a few of the opening posts.

(Anyone looking for more info on this issue feel free to DM me).

In my eyes if a person has an NHS number, DWP number, Tax code, Driving Licence and Passport in thier female name all legal documents and used as forms of ID, and they can still have a Penis, to me that's enough,

They can collect as much paperwork as they like, if they were born male they always will be male.

Troy Hendrickson has given lily kulp $50 towards electrolysis on her go fund me page. That's a hell of an apology towards someone you unintentionally offended.

Thank you for posting this OP. There is a group near me so I am going to join up as soon as I get paid.

Oh I’ve just seen that they allow TIMs to join. How disappointing. Won’t be bothering to join after all.
