Not seen this blog before. I think most regulars here will see what's coming from the first line. Grin

OP posts:

Because biological sex = make-up vs aftershave Hmm FFS

What a load of hyperbolic bollocks that article is.

UpstartCrow · 08/03/2018 17:46

I declare Poe's Law and claim my £5 prize.

SusanBunch · 08/03/2018 17:53

Hahahaha. Just googled 'Christin'. Christin seems to have an obsession with gendered bathrooms and has also written an article saying that he has a fully functioning penis but you would be so wrong to challenge him because he has a woman's body that he experiences as a woman. Also, you should take people's gender identity at face value without needing to see their genitals apparently.

HairyBallTheorem · 08/03/2018 17:55

Yup, Poe's law for sure! Batshit.

NotTerfNorCis · 08/03/2018 17:56

why in the first place must this person be a boy and that person be a girl?

Clue: BIOLOGICAL SEX

SeaWitchly · 08/03/2018 17:59

This bit made me chuckle out loud - When the doctor holds your child up to the harsh light of the delivery room, looks between its legs, and declares his opinion: It's a boy or a girl, based on nothing more than a cursory assessment of your offspring's genitals.

Yep, that is how it works mate. If you have a penis you are male and if you have a vagina you are female. And you know what, you can also be a male who enjoys wearing make up or a female who prefers aftershave to perfume.

Hmm
PrivateView · 08/03/2018 18:04

The natural conclusion of this article should be abolish gender! No gender stereotypes, no problem. This is what radfems want too!

MumOfTheMoos · 08/03/2018 18:05

Oh ffs!

2rebecca · 08/03/2018 18:17

I don't get the sort of mind that thinks that the problem is incorrectly gendering a child rather than rigid sexual stereotypes. Some of it is daft as well. Girls can have shaved heads and boys long hair if they want (certain schools can be fussy although some just say all long hair has to be tied back). Why not attack society by wearing and behaving however you want without insisting you're in the wrong gender. To me that is far more subversive and individualistic.

FencingFightingTorture35 · 08/03/2018 18:22

To think he actually wasted an hour of his life writing that bilge

It's actually offensive to people whose children need medical treatment which has some potential to do them harm.

HeyRoly · 08/03/2018 18:25

Why is it so wrong to be a feminine male or a masculine female? Hmm

Wanderingwomb · 08/03/2018 18:32

Or you could accept that penis most probably means they will produce sperms, vulva most probably means they will produce eggs, go home, model that humans of both sexes have diverse personalities, don't make gender based assumptions with regards to their behaviour and choices, challenge when other people do, and let them be a fucking child.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 08/03/2018 18:36

That is utterly, utterly batshit.

KatherinaMinola · 08/03/2018 18:39

Me too SeaWitchly. Surely it's a spoof?

QueenLaBeefah · 08/03/2018 18:41

What a load of horseshit.

No one is assigned their gender at birth. Rightly enough your sex is but that cannot be changed no matter how much fake hormones or brutal operations you under go.

Elendon · 08/03/2018 18:48

Why did they misgender the doctor? Did the doctor show them their genitals?

I don't know anyone who doesn't know the sex of their unborn child anymore. Is this sexing before birth transphobic?

CigarsofthePharoahs · 08/03/2018 18:48

My eyes glazed over in the middle of reading that.
Sex isn't irrelevant. Not for things like sport or healthcare.
As for career choice - that's up to my children. It's their lives after all.
I'd be no good at this sort of "journalism". I'm too good at getting to the point very quickly and I can't fill pages full of self important waffle.

holycheeseplant · 08/03/2018 19:00

Oh ffs.

A NIPT test (harmony test) told me I was having a boy at 10 weeks gestation. (I'm old and had had some miscarriages).

chambeni · 08/03/2018 19:00

Would be it acceptable to say "this child is of the female / male sex" rather than boy / girl?

I have to admit I'm not medically trained in this "gender assignment procedure" so I'd have to live in ignorance until the child told me what gender they were, or showed their orientation towards dolls or trucks, makeup or aftershave.

Thank goodness we have gender stereotypes to help us out!

Elendon · 08/03/2018 19:00

Surely it's a spoof?

I'm of the belief it's not a spoof. It's dangerous.

holycheeseplant · 08/03/2018 19:00

As it tests the dna.

Sex is assigned at conception.

Datun · 08/03/2018 19:05

Sigh.

The sex of a human is a description of their biological reproductive function.

That's it.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 08/03/2018 19:07

If sex is completely irrelevant, how do we know who needs cross-sex hormones? And which hormones would be "cross-sex" to give them!?
How do doctors make sure they don't accidentally give testosterone to someone who makes (lots of) their own?

No wonder doctors need years and years of med school. Having to work out the above is just too difficult for little old me. 🙄

OohMavis · 08/03/2018 19:10

That's a rather dramatic, lengthy case for disregarding gender stereotypes. What a fucking TERF.

Datun · 08/03/2018 19:10

BeyondDeadlySiren

Exactly. And what is it, exactly, they are identifying with or as?

If it's not the opposite sex.
