That is very measured and dispassionate. Exactly what's needed ATM. Good job Pinky and Pinky's colleagues!

PinkyPieismyspiritanimal · 07/03/2018 19:15

I'm enjoying being called Pinky Pie...! Grin

Will head on over to the Girl Guide camp, although I was a Scout... Don't hold it against me Wink

Elletorro · 07/03/2018 19:19

Thanks Pinky

It’s a pretty longwinded thread.

Short story is GG are saying boys who are transgender are welcome but girls who are transgender are not.

Lots of safeguarding issues as an aside but I reckon all that falls away if the discrimination is dealt with and GG goes back to sex segregation

PinkyPieismyspiritanimal · 07/03/2018 19:20

Measured and dispassionate are what I aim for which is why my handle is that of a bonkers pink anthropomorphic horse.

bellasuewow · 07/03/2018 19:21

This is so encouraging and provides many of us with language that we need to voice our concerns. Due to my role I find it very useful to have it set out in this way. I am dreading, as are many of my colleagues, the legal implications of self ID. Thank you pinky.

Kneedeepinunicorns · 07/03/2018 19:46

Excellent, very hard to see what could (rationally) be taken issue with there. Just factual legal viewpoints. Great job. Flowers

OKMaybeIAmATERF · 07/03/2018 20:21

Very interesting response! I'm surprised the advocates didn't feel there were any legal aspects to the questions about recognising non-binary people, though... Any comment Pinky ?

PinkyPieismyspiritanimal · 07/03/2018 20:26

It was considered purely policy and anything we could say would be a reiteration of what had already been framed. I'm ok with it.

TheMonstrousRegiment · 07/03/2018 20:27

@PinkyPieismyspiritanimal More Flowers and Wine from me too. Thank you!

Carriemac · 07/03/2018 20:32

The Law Society of Scotland has published its response too. I haven't read it. I'm on a policy sub- committee but this consultation was not in its remit.

Oo-er. Does Bishop take Knight?

OP posts:
PinkyPieismyspiritanimal · 07/03/2018 21:53

Not so much - I expected something far more supportive of the proposed changes.

LassWiADelicateAir · 07/03/2018 21:53

ChampiontheWonderHamster Having now read the Law Society's very measured response I think that is a glib and unwarranted comment.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 07/03/2018 22:06

I can't open it (having computer issues)

Can someone cut and paste?

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 07/03/2018 22:07

The solicitors supported saying there was anecdotal evidence to do so.

Thats an oxymoron if ever I saw one. Anecdotes are anecdotes not evidence.

But! They do caveat that with reference to the EA2010 exemptions based on sex - I read it as self ID, agreed, but sex based protections under EA2010 not superseded by self ID.

LassWiADelicateAir · 07/03/2018 22:13

Very selective cutting and pasting there.
