A Model Has Resigned As A Labour LGBT Adviser And Blamed Conservative Newspaper Attacks
"I refuse to be painted as a villain or used as a pawn in the press' efforts, especially those at The Daily Mail, to discredit the Labour Party and push their transphobic rightist agendas," Munroe Bergdorf said on Tuesday morning.

Me too Hesterton

SuperTimbs · 06/03/2018 10:23

Guardian doesn't mention the "hairy barren lesbian" tweet, or the other homophobic things Munroe tweeted. Just the "yes all white people'. Weird.

Haha! I have really gone off it. I especially hate how they always switch off comments for any article which might have debate below-the-line.

Patodp · 06/03/2018 10:45

I'm glad he isn't blaming feminists.

YourVagesty · 06/03/2018 11:07

I have boycotted the Guardian since the Marie Dean report and I have not missed it.

derxa · 06/03/2018 11:09

Let's hope they manage to appoint someone more appropriate. Really hoping this is the start of the fightback and Labour seeing sense.

NoqontroI · 06/03/2018 11:14

Good

invisibleoldwoman · 06/03/2018 11:14

hesterton
I think it's time for a radical separation between trans issues and those of the LGB communities.

Me too. At least a proper discussion of how trans issues can be recognised without taking women's rights and protections away.

Trumpdump · 06/03/2018 12:10

Typical "poor me" speech from a TRA... I hope the Daily Mail sue them.

BlindYeo · 06/03/2018 12:36

Good.

I was vaguely hoping after Andrew Neil, and the Times discovering those tweets, something would happen, but I didn't actually believe it would.

TerfsUp · 06/03/2018 12:38

Bye-bye, Munroe.

CabinFeverShorts · 06/03/2018 13:06

Thank fuck for that.
About time.

JessicaEccles · 06/03/2018 13:23

Munroe has a real problem with women's anatomy. She was on about 'hairy barren vaginas' - erm vaginas cannot be 'barren' - does she mean uteruses/ wombs- which aren't hairy.

Then she said that the pink pussy hats were racist as vaginas were different colours. NO- we are all pink inside (to quote peaches).

HelpTheTigers · 06/03/2018 13:26

Lefty here and not a fan of the Daily Mail (surprisingly). I must just be a TERF then! Amazing just how much crap people spout to justify themselves and cover up their actions and behaviours. I hope that Munroe is replaced by someone more grounded, reasonable and less phobic about anyone who isn't trans.

Have any TRAs/ Hand maidens thought about the messaging around 'facial feminisation surgery' and how it might be absorbed by young girls or even women for that matter? Is my jawline 'womanly' enough? Am I coquettish or sexy enough to be classified as a woman under these new ill-thought out rules?

Doesn't everybody want their 'inside' to match their 'outside'? But wouldn't it be delusional if I decided that I was Kate Moss inside and headed to my GP for a surgical route to becoming more Moss (because I've always known since I was little that I was a supermodel inside)? But yet Bergdorf is brave, to be lauded, celebrated for this absolute bollocks.

I cannot believe that this where we are. Madness.

Yes, this is why I have felt uncomfortable with Bergdorf and Lees going on about their facial feminisation surgery, particularly when neither of them have had bottom surgery I don't think? It just seems like 'forget about the penis, all you need to do to be a real woman is have a feminine jawline, and then pose for countless selfies which show off how feminine you look'.

WTF? I feel like i am just so done with being 'kind' about this.

UpstartCrow · 06/03/2018 14:23

Although I'm glad to see Berdorf has resigned, I'm wondering why women or feminists haven't been dragged into this. Have Labour started a damage limitation exercise? Or is this a TRA tactic, to link the slur 'transphobic' with 'right wing'?

Elendon · 06/03/2018 14:23

It's just been on the 2pm news on Radio 4.

YourVagesty · 06/03/2018 14:24

ikr imintheclubnow

and pouty lips and fluttery fake eyelashes too. Not a woman without those i'm afraid.

RedToothBrush · 06/03/2018 14:25

Damage limitation is in action.

Forced.

Keep plugging.
