Only two days left to complete the Scottish consultation questionnaire. I have made a short video explaining why it's important to fill it in. Please watch and share as widely as possible. Don't leave this up to Scottish women. Use this opportunity to speak. Don't waste it.

Deadline 5pm Thursday 1st March

Where is the survey? I don't understand where to find it to fill in

Xx

Thingvellir · 27/02/2018 21:21

Completed, and piece of my mind given. It was total legalese, almost like they didn't want people to actually wade through to the end

Italiangreyhound · 27/02/2018 23:55

Done it.

Italiangreyhound · 27/02/2018 23:56

@Lilymossflower

Info here too. fairplayforwomen.com/scotland/

Done. Mostly just ticked the boxes. Made my head hurt but good to do something positive. So what are the chances we will be listened to ?!

Loungingbutnotforlong · 28/02/2018 10:10

Done- annoyed with the inherent bias- I liked the killing puppy analogy upthread, which explained it nicely. It was cathartic to put my views down. I felt sad to say they could publish my comments, but not my name- ridiculous that I should be worried about possible repercussions for simply stating facts- this is how it starts.

AccioWine · 28/02/2018 10:37

Also done. I'm glad it's not just me who found the questions confusing. I checked my answers twice just to make sure I wasn't inadvertently supporting self ID. I'm still not entirely sure I haven't btw?! Arrgghhh!

LifelongVaginaOwner · 28/02/2018 10:41

Done. It was very confused. I mean doesn't the fact they are thinking about 'how many times' people can 'change sex' make them think that maybe lots of it is bollocks. Which I said but without the bollocks (appropriately)

OldCrone · 28/02/2018 11:14

Finally got this finished and submitted. Agree with others about how ludicrous the whole thing is. You sign a document to say you're going to live as your new 'gender' for the rest of your life, so how many times should you be allowed to swap? How about, if you change once, and then realise it was a mistake, you can change back.

As for non-binary requiring a separate category of marriage (neither same-sex nor between a man and a woman), I had to explain (yet again) the difference between sex and gender. I did point out that if they'd defined sex and gender at the outset, the whole consultation would have been clearer. They'd (probably) also have realised that whole sections made no sense whatsoever.

NightLion · 28/02/2018 11:27

Done. Bumping.

ForTheTimeBeing · 28/02/2018 11:38

Done. The whole thing is so depressing.

SoftMyrtle · 28/02/2018 11:40

Done. Just bumping.

0ccamsRazor · 28/02/2018 12:12

Done done done, BUMP

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 28/02/2018 12:14

Done.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 28/02/2018 12:19

It was difficult not to get very sarcastic in the comments. I also resent the time it took (which should've been spent doing other things I need to do). This whole thing is madness. Surely they recognise how badly the consultation was worded? Seemingly by someone who's never done biology at school?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 28/02/2018 12:23

Done.
And yes reading all the bumf and responding in full is about a 3 hour job but it's better to whizz through and put thoughts in comments section than to do nothing

haven't watched but it might help some folk
SuperLoudPoppingAction · 28/02/2018 12:24

No idea why video image is visible in my comment but not in OP but I only noticed once I had posted. Sorry, OP!

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 28/02/2018 19:00

Bumpity bump bump

HairyBallTheorem · 28/02/2018 19:56

Just done it.

Bloody hell, talk about misleading and leading questions. (Had a bit of a rant at the end too).

Grrrrrr.

"Should gender reassingment remain grounds for divorce?"

WTAF? You even think this is a reasonable question to ask? What happened to consent? Sexuality? Sexual attraction?

The whole thing was bloody nonsense from start to finish, but that question alone really underlines the fact that this is a men's rights movement. Women, we men can decide we want to don a frock, and we will not even allow you to walk away from us for doing so.

Need a stiff gin now, I think.

Freshlylaidterf · 28/02/2018 19:59

Done. Twice. From two different emails.

OldCrone · 28/02/2018 20:06

HairyBallTheorem
I hope you noticed that they turned that question around so that it said 'Should legal gender recognition stop being a ground of divorce or dissolution?'
I kept rereading the questions to check how many negatives were in them.

HairyBallTheorem · 28/02/2018 20:15

Was paraphrasing the question from memory, but that's a good point - loads of sneaky negatives. (I think I got it the right way round, you've got me worried now because I've got a stinking cold and my brain has been replaced with a ball of snot).

ScarletBegonias · 28/02/2018 20:49

Done.
I'd have liked to have had more time to do all the questions justice but I think I got the main messages across - including my extreme dissatisfaction with the nature of the consultation document!

Judder · 28/02/2018 21:39

Done. I do hope we get through.
