"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

Oddly enough DH was way ahead of me re TRAs, it was him reading mumsnet (during his working day) and telling me I was CIS/natal woman, that made me look at the Trans threads here rather than ignoring them.

My previous stance was live and let live; I know one reassigned MtF whose wife stayed after transition, but its not a relationship where I can ask about the dissonance the wife must have undergone to be in a hetrosexual relationship one minute then in a 'lesbian' relationship the next. I baulked when hearing about a sex offended who cut his penis in order to simulate a period, then would only accept sanitary towels to stem the bleeding and when hearing that a male sex offender said he wanted to transition because he would get easier access to children as a woman. Though classing myself as a feminist I hadn't considered the wider implications.

Since then I've read around myself reading articles on trans issues such as autogynophelia, gender identity, trans widows, the writing is often well thought out and logical.
This is the opposite of much of the TRA stuff I've read and listened to which is often incomprehensible and involves illogical thinking. The more I read, the more worried I become at how the trans lobby is growing and industry is capitalising on and making money out of a defective ideology and the impact on women.

As a woman it worries me at how readily people are keen to jump on the bandwagon, also how little interest my female friends want to take.

So, thanks to all those lovely, brilliant women, men, transwomen and transmen on this site who have banged on and helped to enlighten me.

You lot are a bunch of hateful bitches!

Poor old Giuliana, desperately wanting a gold star for knowing the etymology of the word puerile and not one of you lazy ass slatterns can be bothered to post "Puerile?! Puerile??!! Did she just misgender me" or some such.

Forced to strawman, the poor love...

@Giuliana_London

Etymology: Next they’ll bleat that word “puerile” is misgendering. Whilst in Latin “puer” is boy and “puella” is girl, the adjective “puerile” deriving therefrom has no gender connotations. The word “puelline” has been used only in a literal sense, in a medical context.

Can't be bothered to look after your own children and would rather loll about on social media and even then you can't be bothered to post stuff that allows TIM's to neatly segue into mansplaining facts that no one asked or cares about. No wonder you are all despised. I mean, what is the point of your existence?

Shame. On. You. All.

Fekko · 25/02/2018 18:05

I like the word puerile. I use it at work quite a lot.

RedToothBrush · 25/02/2018 18:13

Huh wat?

I think I'll just stick a bit of projection in here about what happens to the other kids in the family and how all that built up sexism and need to justify impacts on them too as well as in addition to the continual focus on their sibling.

Of course since they have 'cis privilege' they are all just fiiiinnnnne....

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 25/02/2018 18:15

I didn't understand the puerile thing. Has someone done that? Said that you can't call wo/men puerile?

Surely no one is weird enough to make that all up? Really? Not even a TRA. Right? I mean, I'm not ACTUALLY speaking Latin when I use the word puerile am I? For a start.

It's a step on from strawmen - like fantasy arguing with yourself where you can make up stupid shit for the other side to say and then knock 'em down. Confused

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 25/02/2018 18:38

Y'know... thinking about it - if my mum had been such an example of blatant internalised misogyny, I might decide I was actually a boy too.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 25/02/2018 18:40

Haha transactivists are really really getting pissed off that people are not silenced on here. Very rattled Grin

Whats wrong with being a SAHM anyway, idiots.

Xenophile · 25/02/2018 18:41

Nice to see Helen whipping up support for hers and Susie's persecution fantasy.

No one cares about either of you, ladies, it's the lies and misinformation your organisation puts out that concerns us all.

(and for the record, I was a SAHM for a while, had no choice because of disability, I am well educated, and suggesting that those things are why women should just STFU makes you a misogynist fuck weasel. HTH)

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 25/02/2018 18:42

Meh. The NetHuns put up a better online banter "fight" than that.

At least they never wrongly accuse #Blessed.

#nethunsarebetterresearched

While I'm here, and at risk of derailing, what's the word for "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck" etc. It's been bugging me since seeing the other thread demanding the definition of "woman" if no periods / infertile etc.

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 25/02/2018 18:43

I assume as education is such a bad thing, when they take their kids for these essential, life saving operations, they use the barber down the road and not the qualified surgeon?

Xenophile · 25/02/2018 18:46

I assume as education is such a bad thing, when they take their kids for these essential, life saving operations, they use the barber down the road and not the qualified surgeon?

Well, I suspect that as all surgeons ever are men, even if they present as female, they're all actually men, because gender stereotypes the fact that they're educated is fine.

It's just women with our silly lady brains full of glitter and fluff that shouldn't be educated.

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 25/02/2018 18:48

Ah but then, every mner who has a degree must surely have a man-brain (to be worried about such things that aren't sparkles and hair clips), and Helens criticism will mysteriously melt away...?

Mummyontherun86 · 25/02/2018 18:58

I’m an educated, occasionally bored sahm who is often in disagreement with the trans debates had on here (as in more pro trans than typical mumset).... just to ruin their stereotype.

That person sounds rude. FWIW I don’t think mermaids’ views represents all trans people. I’m generally of a live and let live disposition but they have a political agenda for children that’s OTT and not in line with medical evidence.

NannyOggsKnickers · 25/02/2018 18:59

Nope. Not a SAHM (not that there is anything wrong with that).

We represent a broad spectrum of women, from different fields and age groups. All of us have peak transed about different things at different times.

Mermaids needs to think about how representative people on this board are of the general public (because we’re a fairly good cross section of women). The collective WTF on here is tiny in comparison to the response when everyone out there cottons on to the homophobia/misogyny/lying and bullshit being peddled by Mermaids and TRAs.

Xenophile · 25/02/2018 18:59

I suspect we might all be frustrated TiFs, yes.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/02/2018 19:00

It's completely impossible for her to ever extricate herself from the rabbit hole. She'd have to accept that she's enabled a loved one to mutilate themselves.

YY. I actually feel pity for them, and for Jazz Jennings parents too - a few years down the line there is a good chance that at least one of these parents will realise how badly they have fucked up, and I can't even imagine how terrible that will feel.

Imagine the pressure of trying to keep up this illusion of the Emperor's new clothes when you know that when that illusion fails you will have to face up to what you have done.

Cunstancemarkiewicz · 25/02/2018 19:02

Pathetic. I work fulltime and have kids. But why would you sneer at someone who's at home with their kids? What a nasty sexist thing to say, belittling that job. She will spend the rest of her life defending her decision to castrate her 16 year old son, just pathetic.

KochabRising · 25/02/2018 19:05

Mermaids needs to think about how representative people on this board are of the general public (because we’re a fairly good cross section of women).

Exactly. And so do any government wonks scouring these boards to gauge the flavour of opinion. MN is diverse. And pretty much United on this (more so than any other issue I’ve ever seen raised.)

We are half the voting population. Don’t try to strip our rights away or you’ll be out the door quicker than you can say ‘six point drop in labour membership.’

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 25/02/2018 19:10

what's the word for "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck" etc.

Do you mean Occam's Razor?

ButteredScone · 25/02/2018 19:13

So, @sallyandherarmy are you planning to become a regular poster on the Jeremy Kyle-esque MN? Or are you popping onto a trans thread with a put-down try and never coming back?

We (Mumsnet; sanity) are winning this thing. Sure, TRA had the upper hand for a while. But no longer, because in the end evidence and science will win the day.

Bloody love MN.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 25/02/2018 19:13

CertainHalf - thank you!!!

SimonBridges · 25/02/2018 19:16

Occam’s razor is that the most simple solution is the most likely/ best one to take.

*It never crossed my mind that 'educated' women would use this place.

Surely not? Why would they?

Come to think of it, I know of no-one, in my RL, that uses MN. And I think they would be shocked/surprised/mortified if they found out that I do.

So I tell no-one. No-one.*

This has got to be the funniest post I have ever read on here!! Cheers for the laugh, Sally!!😂😂👍👍

TerfsUp · 25/02/2018 19:38

I, for one, participate in MN only because I don't have a television but still need my daily dose of Jeremy Kyle.

Hope this helps, Sally.
