Very interesting case (I’m in HR). Primark have really messed up here to be honest (poor investigations and actions against those who have behaved very badly).

But what I’ve found interesting is that the recommendations regarding transgender policies and education. With being in HR, I struggle with this and it crossing with my own opinions on transgender women/men. At what point does the (employment) law apply if someone self ID’s.

Whistle blowing is a possibility but it can come at enormous personal cost, despite legislation that's supposed to make it possible.

I was thinking more of strongly worded statements to the govt. from your professional organisations, well researched and backed up with reference to the law and anonymised or hypothetical examples.

The challenge is to get your professional bodies to properly care about this and not just panic and embrace GIRES or whoever's spoon fed 'guidance' because they have no clue what the fuck any of it means really and they don't want to be sued and there was a GIRES link on a gov site.

The convictions in the old name/gender will show up but there’s a process so that you can get them to discretely avoid mentioning the name/gender change.

I imagine they’ve got systems in place so that even if you didn’t follow the rules and reveal your previous identity, they could still figure out that there had been a change. Otherwise, anyone could just use deed poll to change their name after a crime to pretend they had a clean record.
