Wow that was great! Was looking for Mumsnetters but found another mum from my kids' school! Great serendipity. I hope we can go to the Head with the transgendertrend resource pack soon...
Some really interesting points raised about language, power, making sure the rights of differently-oppressed peoples are not made to conflict and that everyone has their needs met.
Miranda Yardley said we shouldn't be saying 'she' and 'her' when referring to TIMs which was interesting as she (agh, he? I don't want to upset anyone!) said it was perpetuating a lie (words to that effect). Shortly before Miranda spoke, two other TIMs though they described themselves as TW spoke, about trying to find common ground, and trying to be the trans-reasonable as an antidote to the trans-activists. I thought they were brave. Some people didn't agree with them.
And the WEP party stuff was - well, Datun (yes the mighty Datun! Only a few rows behind me!) got it right when she said Sophie Walker should, on the strength of this meeting, go home right now and rewrite the women/TW policy and publish it on the WEP website tomorrow. Absolutely. How could she failed to be moved emotionally, and have any concerns answered factually and intellectually.
I was not brave enough to speak. Those who did were great. The Scottish woman in the gallery who called us all sisters, just WOW!
So pleased I went. 🍷🍷🍷 to you all xxx
