Thanks, Capn! - I liked this comment...

"What this means is - I don’t have an opinion on this issue so I will leave a foot in both camps in order to appear as reasonable as possible, therefore maintaining the illusion that I am a reasonable. compassionate, intelligent politician. Meanwhile, orders have been issued and names are being taken ..."

@Feared, I hope it's more than just Labour. Need to keep reminding them it's all parties, and led by Tories.

seafoodeatit · 29/01/2018 13:10

Thanks for posting, I'm listening to world at 1 one too now.

"It is my contention that young people today are being brainwashed and turned into Orwellian servants of the state for a much larger agenda. It has been suggested by others that the assault on sexual distinctions and on the perception of basic biological reality is part of a game to give absolute power to the state in the interpretation of reality itself. If the state can force people to admit that men are women, they can force them to believe anything. War is peace. Slavery is freedom. Men are women. "

This might already have been posted, but just thought it was interesting. From the Mail. I had suspected that JC was very pleased with himself about how many young people turned out to vote for him in the last election.

Grr, it's appeared in the first message now. Bloody mumsnet.

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 13:17

Its going to be debated on world at 1 today...

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 13:17

AWS that is.

seafoodeatit · 29/01/2018 13:18

Just heard the preview ' it's an all women list not all female' apparently.

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 13:19

Cross post with many it seems!

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 13:21

The dictionary is transphobic.

seafoodeatit · 29/01/2018 13:28

I think it's telling and disturbing how some are trying to take the female out of woman so as to alter the definition, it's not done out of inclusion either.

seafoodeatit · 29/01/2018 13:32

Labour doesn't allow hate speech. What about your nasty list?

pamish · 29/01/2018 13:39

TWs are already allowed on shortlists. Discussion should have focused more on the self-ID and we need to keep saying that. NB Lily does not have a GRC so is not 'qualified' to be on AWS.. Not explicit rule re Women's Officer positions which are voluntary. It's clearer with AWS which is a fast-track to a £70k job and so has to be legal.

Collidascope

I saw this on twitter earlier. If taken on face value it suggests that the Corbyn youth revolution might not be quite so revolutionary. I think they will realise at some point what a mistake it was to lose so many older left wing women.

nauticant · 29/01/2018 13:44

That's true OvaHere but I think that Labour have bought into the "reality" that the youth vote delivered the result and into the "reality" that self-ID will keep the youth vote on board. Labour are snaring themselves in a trap of truthiness.

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 13:45

Tweet bbc? Re world at 1? I'm not on twitter.

Justabunchofcunts · 29/01/2018 13:49

Yes Ova, he would need older women's vote just as much. Older women much more likely to question the motives and workability of a policy that effectively opens the door to women's and girls private and protected spaces to anyone with a penis. Funny that.

YesItsADebate · 29/01/2018 13:52

Jeremy sets Party policy now, apparently.

Collidascope · 29/01/2018 13:57

Thanks, Ova. That's interesting -and unfortunate for Jeremy Corbyn.

Ohforfoxsakereturns · 29/01/2018 13:59

Parnish LM has publicly said that they hold a GRC. 🤔
